**What is the job about?**
As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will be responsible for identifying, onboarding and developing new external suppliers to become key partners to Peerless. The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will also be a key participant in the continued development of the existing supply base.
This position reports directly to our Senior Quality and Sourcing Manager and will operate out of the Indianapolis, IN facility in a hybrid function.
**Your main responsibilities:**
+ Identify potential new suppliers with manufacturing capabilities and business models that match Peerless business needs - specific to casting and fabrication commodities.
+ Conduct supplier visits, establishing initial vendor relations and evaluating potential future business relations.
+ Working with legal counsel to ensure that all contracts relating to product procurement contain all details of the negotiation.
+ Prepare RFQ package and manage the process.
+ Conduct detailed supplier audits to gauge full capability, performance and business fit, and make recommendations for the next steps.
+ Manage parts sampling and approval process for select suppliers.
+ Lead full boarding of selected new suppliers.
+ Conduct new supplier performance evaluation.
+ Participate in performance management of existing supply base.
+ Implementing inventory optimization strategies within the company.
+ Guide supplier improvement initiative if deemed necessary.
+ Assessing quotes and compiling a detailed assessment of cost breakdowns, utilizing Total Cost of Ownership concept (TOCO).
+ Key member of Peerless cross-functional sourcing team for castings & Fabrications.
**We imagine that you have:**
+ Proven track record from previous strategic sourcing activities, growing and improving external supply base.
+ Detailed knowledge of casting and fabrication commodities and their manufacturing processes.
+ Some previous experience with sand casting, investment casting, and other casting technologies (i.e. lost foam, vacuum cast, etc.).
+ Knowledge of manufacturing technologies and machining processes.
+ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and quality standards.
+ Experience using various supplier evaluation and auditing tools.
