General Characteristics
Provides efficient and reliable storage allocation and defines backup, recovery, archival procedures. Develops and implements business continuity practices for storage management. Installs, configures, tests and implements storage management software and hardware. Monitors use and availability of storage resources. Maintains and modifies backup and recovery procedures to meet high availability and mission critical business needs. Troubleshoots storage related issues and takes appropriate actions. Generates reports and analysis on storage usage. Maintains storage configurations to provide capacity planning and performance monitoring/tuning of systems. Benchmarks, evaluates and makes recommendations for the selection of storage management software and hardware products. Possesses skills and knowledge related to network, operating systems, Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS) and tape backup solutions.

Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.

Experience : A minimum of 3 years of IT work experience. Requires a high level of expertise in multiple system environments. Experience with networking, storage and systems administration.

Complexity : Intermediate professional level role. Defines procedures for monitoring and evaluates, diagnoses and establishes work plan to resolve storage management issues. Works on multiple products, activities and projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project leader. May coach more junior technical staff.

**Responsibilities & Qualifications**
The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) was established as a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 1962. The NICHDmission is to lead research and training to understand human development, improve reproductive health, enhance the lives of children and adolescents, and optimize abilities for all. Components of the NICHD have differing environments and needs. Operating environments include UNIX, Linux, Windows, and MAC. **FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Develop capacity planning strategy to manage business as usual growth that would occur during the migration windows.
+ Plan project and manage SAN integration into existing server environment (production, test, and development).
+ Engage in performance management, fine-tuning.
+ Manage critical incidents via coordination of international teams supporting various storage,
+ backup, application and server technologies.
+ Create and configure both NFS and SMB shares and relate user permissions.

**ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS PREFERRED:**

+ Hands-on experience migrating on-prem infrastructure to the Cloud is preferred.

Job Description

The Associate, Self-Storage Asset Management position is responsible for helping maximize the value of the organization's self-storage real estate portfolio through ensuring the active support of managing, leasing, renovations + expansions, and recapitalization / dispositions of domestic real estate investments.
Nuveen currently owns approximately $2.5 billion of self-storage assets, in the U.S., making it one of the largest private investors of self-storage in North America. Nuveen's self-storage exposure stretches across several joint-venture partners and operators, including a platform it has invested in and is actively growing.
Nuveen's in-house asset management team takes a hands-on approach in optimizing cash-flow and minimizing risk exposures, as well as evaluating challenges and opportunities. This role requires working in a highly collaborative environment, to drive returns. The position will report to the Head of Self-Storage Asset Management and will be a part of the broader Nuveen Alternatives Housing team.
**Key Responsibilities and Duties**
+ Responsible for helping manage an existing, and growing, portfolio of real estate assets within the self-storage sector across a variety of risk-profiles (core, core-plus, value-add, and development).
+ Regularly engage with operating partners to ensure Nuveen's interests and performance in investments is maximized.
+ Helps in the preparation and review of annual business plans, operating budgets, capital budgets, as well as monitor actual performance against these budgets throughout the year.
+ Conducts financial analysis/modeling to assess current and projected performance of investments.
+ Supports in the assessment of capital needs/expenditures of each property and works with operating partners to develop a long-term capital plan for the portfolio that corresponds to stated strategy.
+ This includes identifying and executing on assets in the portfolio that should be candidates for 1) conversions to climate / temperature controlled, as well as 2) expansion opportunities.
+ Monitor capital improvements and draw requests.
+ Assist in the preparation of property activities and ensure quality of deliverables (monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc) including review of all financial data, variance explanations, compliance reporting obligations, property audits, other key reports.
+ Supports the transactions team in underwriting, due diligence, and on-boarding activities, for new assets, as necessary. Additionally, helps strategize and prepare owned assets for disposition/recapitalization, to optimize returns.
+ Research current issues impacting the real estate management business that may affect the company's existing and future portfolio.
+ In addition to financial aspects, the Associate is responsible for supporting the implementation of ESG, technology and other broader Nuveen initiatives.
+ Possesses knowledge of current real estate market conditions for submarkets in which assets are located.

Job Title: Software Engineer - Cloud Storage Solutions
Job Location: Reston, VA or Sunnyvale, CA
Experience: 8-10 Years.
Contract Type: C2C

Key skills:
• Design, implement, optimize private cloud-based Cloud Storage solutions using Ceph
• Build, tune, troubleshoot block and object storage systems in high availability Ceph storage clusters
• Design automation for storage optimization and other processes on private cloud platforms
• Enable Application teams to follow best practices to deploy on Cloud Platforms and optimize Storage spend and improve efficiency and performance based on utilization with Ceph
• Create and maintain technical documentation for operational readiness
• Design and maintain cloud storage best practices
• Become a solid contributor on our team, and build, extend and maintain some of the key infrastructure that powers our Private Cloud platform
• Provide troubleshooting expertise for storage performance and other issues
• Develop and integrate provisioning and lifecycle tools for storage services components
Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience supporting large scale, highly available, production Cloud Storage deployments with Ceph
• Strong familiarity with any combination of the following: OpenStack/Kubernetes/Rook with Ceph as an underlying storage solution
• Experience in programming, scripting and development
o Python or Shell Scripting
• Experience with Linux Administration and System Troubleshooting
• Networking concepts and administration
o TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, Load balancing
• Experience using source control systems (git)
• Experience in configuration management tools like Ansible/Puppet/Chef
• Experience with Containers (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
• Experience in Architecting infra solutions for applications
• Experience with monitoring, reporting tools and data analytics
• Good understanding of clustered/distributed systems
• Apply best practice and team standards while meeting service level objectives
• Experience working with cloud deployments (scaling, resiliency, load balancing etc) and solid understanding of Service Monitoring, KPI, SLA, Disaster Recovery
• Deep experience with the Linux ecosystem, automation of common tasks, and configuration of systems monitoring tools
• Experience with capacity/performance management, monitoring and tuning
• Experience with firewalls, VPN, routing, switching, load balancers, monitoring, security and DNS
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS or similar field of study OR work equivalent
