Within the SP&A group, the Corporate Financial Planning team coordinates the budgeting and forecasting process for all of the Company’s business lines. They are also responsible for enterprise-wide analytics (cash availability, capital allocation planning, financial ratios, scenario analysis, etc.), executive reporting, and business intelligence initiatives. Summary of Job Description: The Vice President, Financial Analysis and Strategic Planning is responsible for the company's financial and strategic planning covering both corporate and operations finance. This position works with leaders within FAST as well as in Operations and other departments to generate financial and operating insights as the basis for decision-making, financial improvement opportunities, and enhancement of the business. The Vice President, Financial Analysis & Strategic Planning leads a team of managers and professionals, coaching and developing associates to elevate their performance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Leads the company's financial planning by taking a forward-looking perspective to the company's financial situation on a global basis. Oversees all financial analysis related to improving the company's financial performance. Develops future finance strategies and processes in collaboration with CFO. Integrates finance services and support across FAST and with other departments (Ops, RD, etc.) providing effective customer service. Promotes effective flow of communication related to financial planning across the company.
- Updates the five-year strategic plan on a semi-annual basis. Develops growth plans based on assumptions and metrics.
- Leads the Financial Planning and Strategy team (Corporate and Operations Finance, Analytics and Strategy) by managing, coaching, and developing associates, including managers and professionals. Responsible for hiring and retaining staff and developing and elevating associate performance to support the company's growth strategies.
- Responsible for Corporate Finance, leading the company's AOP and budgeting process, responsive to changing needs and to the company's evolution and growth. Provides financial modeling and analysis to senior leaders to support their decision making related to achieving the company's growth goals and targets. Oversees the Corporate Finance team's preparation of current and two year financial forecasts and reporting in support of senior leadership's decision making. Uses analytical tools to create dashboards and analyses to support decision making.
- Responsible for Operations Finance, working with Operations leadership to provide financial analysis that drives operating efficiencies and sales growth. Oversees the Operations Finance team's preparation of financial reports on Operations results on a periodic basis. Works with Operations Finance to communicate business results on a Zone, Region, and Area basis and provide recommendations for operational efficiencies and business enhancement. Oversees analysis related to the economic impact of initiatives undertaken by Operations (e.g., opening new stores) and provides operational insights derived from the analysis. Works with Operations Finance team to train and coach Operators to enhance their financial skills, as well as in identifying and delivering financial improvements to the restaurants.
- Leads or participates in the formulation and implementation of strategic business initiatives and contributes to the strategic planning process. Address discrete business problems and challenges thought processes when appropriate.
- Conducts research on key competitors and compares the company's market position to its competitors. Researches competitors' customer satisfaction, sales, market penetration and growth. Monitors and interprets current industry trends.
- Leads major company-wide, cross-functional projects with significant impact on the company's future when appropriate.

Job Summary Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Finance and Research Administration, the Director of Strategic Financial Planning and Analysis serves as a senior financial leader and principal architect of the Harris School’s financial strategy. This specialized role acts as a key liaison between the Harris School and University operational units, driving the strategic direction of financial planning, resource allocation, and risk management. The Director leads the development and implementation of sophisticated financial models, oversees complex budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensures robust compliance with evolving regulatory and institutional standards. Supervising a Financial Administrator and managing multiple high-impact projects, the Director provides expert guidance to senior leadership, translates organizational priorities into actionable financial strategies, and fosters a culture of transparency, innovation, and continuous improvement. The Director communicates with diplomacy and discretion, leveraging in-depth knowledge of University policies and best practices to support the School’s mission and long-term financial sustainability. This position remains vigilant regarding regulatory changes, proactively plans for departmental compliance, and implements corrective actions as necessary to safeguard institutional integrity and advance strategic objectives. Responsibilities Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis: Serve as the chief financial strategist, partnering with the Assistant Dean to design and implement long-term financial plans that align with the Harris School’s academic and research priorities. Lead scenario planning, sensitivity analyses, and multi-year forecasting to inform executive decision-making and optimize resource allocation. Develop and refine key performance indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and financial models to monitor and project financial health, identifying risks and opportunities for growth. Advise senior leadership on capital investments, program expansions, and new revenue streams, providing data-driven recommendations to support sustainable growth. Represent the Harris School’s interests in University-wide financial system transformations, ensuring seamless adoption and integration of new technologies and processes. Financial Reporting & Compliance: Oversee the preparation, analysis, and presentation of comprehensive financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal and external standards. Monitor compliance with University policies, governmental regulations, and best practices, proactively identifying and mitigating financial risks. Manage internal and external audit processes, coordinating with auditors and central administration to ensure timely and effective resolution of findings. Stay abreast of regulatory changes, leading the department’s response and implementing necessary policy or procedural updates. Budgeting, Forecasting & Resource Optimization: Direct the annual and multi-year budgeting processes, collaborating with academic and administrative units to align financial resources with institutional priorities. Oversee the development of detailed fiscal projections, monitoring expenditures for compliance and efficiency, and providing strategic guidance on budget adjustments as needed. Lead the Financial Administrator in the production of monthly budget forecasts and variance analyses, ensuring timely and actionable insights for stakeholders. Procurement, Disbursements & Internal Controls: Oversee all procurement activities, ensuring alignment with University policies and strategic sourcing initiatives to maximize value and mitigate risk. Approve high-value reimbursements, purchase requisitions, and non-salary disbursements, ensuring proper documentation, fund availability, and compliance. Provide policy guidance, training, and troubleshooting support to faculty and staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Leadership, Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Mentor and supervise the Financial Administrator, fostering professional development and a high-performance culture. Serve as a trusted advisor to faculty, researchers, and administrators, offering expert counsel on internal awards, policy updates, and financial best practices. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with University financial officers, external partners, and regulatory agencies, representing the Harris School in strategic negotiations and initiatives. Innovation & Process Improvement: Champion the adoption of new financial technologies, process enhancements, and data analytics tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and strategic insight. Lead continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging institutional knowledge and industry best practices to enhance financial systems and services. Serves as an experienced liaison interacting with financial administrators within operational units on financial, budget or accounting matters to prepare, advise and recommend. Analyze, organize and communicate business information to ensure deliverables are meeting or exceeding expectations. Conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses to monitor and manage for expense optimization by identifying market drivers, enhance strategies, or improve revenue generation. Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field. General Purpose: The NICU Data Manager will apply specialized clinical/medical knowledge regarding data definition, coding, and accreditation standards and best practices. Manages multiple Microsoft Access databases to combine data from various internal and external source. Ensures timely, accurate, and quality submission of all data registry elements. Prioritize, organize and meet tight deadlines for multiple concurrent tasks and team requests. Develop database structures and features customized to departmental needs. Creation and ongoing monitoring of procedures to ensure data integrity. Prepare and present performance reports to leadership. Identify process improvement efforts and conducts surveys and audits. Designs and manages SharePoint and intranet website. Organize quality reports, review outcomes, and identify process improvements. Develops workflows and priorities for data collection and reporting. Oversees Documentation Office and data staff. Provides direction and resources to departmental staff. Develops protocols and tools to achieve department and staff goals.
Essential Functions:
- Management of multiple Microsoft Access Databases. Data Management of Neodata, NYS NICU Perinatal Data system NICU Module, HERDS, and various QI Databases.
- Ensure accurate recording of metrics into Neodata and internal databases which include demographic, maternal, pregnancy, delivery, clinical and outcome variables for NICU patients.
- Develop and maintain, and modify Microsoft Access queries, as well as VBA macros and Excel pivot tables, queries to ensure efficient data processing and visualization within various dashboards and QI monitoring projects.
- Extract and analyze data from electronic health record (EPIC/eRecord) as well as other registries.
- Collaborate with team to understand the scope of project, best data sources, and develop reporting metrics.
- Conduct chart abstractions including identifying eligible patients, apply definitions, and validating data.
- Collaborate with and mentor staff at affiliate hospitals.
- Provide education and training for new and existing staff, clarify registry data definitions, troubleshoot data entry issues and perform data analyses for affiliate NICUs as required.
- Meet with affiliate registry staff as needed.
- Directs staff activities in gathering, compiling, and analyzing information.
- Train new departmental staff on MS access queries and reports as needed. Monitor staff progress towards self and departmental goals and provide further direction as needed.
- Ensure staff are providing accurate data documentation and reporting through development of audit tools.
- Engage staff in department projects that advance skills and knowledge.
- Designs and implements action plans to upgrade support tools such as Neodata and eNICQ applications.
- Create user accounts; provide database access and training as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant experience in clinical and/or hospital environment. Or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Access database management, MS Excel, clinical data abstraction and interpretation, as well as report building.
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis and predictive modeling.
- Ideal candidate will have highly specialized knowledge with medical terminology as well familiarity of clinical unit workflow.
