Position Overview

The Medical Education Manager is a critical customer facing role within Shockwave Medical with the remit to develop and execute medical education programs as part of a broader educational offering. The position will work across both coronary and peripheral therapies and reports to the Associate Director, Medical Education.

The successful candidate will join a team passionate about supporting physicians, nurses, and technologists in their journey to better understand the challenges of cardiovascular disease and the role Shockwaves products like Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) and Reducer can serve as a therapeutic option for their patients. This will have specific responsibility for enhancing our US and Canada local Medical Education offering. The role will offer an opportunity to work with world class physician faculty across interventional cardiology, vascular surgery, and interventional radiology. The individual will develop and maintain productive relationships with key opinion leaders and must be comfortable in appropriate coaching of physicians in the development and delivery of peer-to-peer education.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, plan, and execute Shockwave Medical company sponsored education programs, including identifying educational needs, and development of programs and formats that meet customer and business needs.
  • At a local/regional event level, lead agenda, faculty selection & scheduling, learning objectives, content creation and physician support. Work with Medical Education event managers to co-facilitate logistics planning and execution.
  • Act as an advisor and consult with the field organization to uncover HCP learning needs and develop educational solutions to meet those needs.
  • Responsible for local/regional speaker prep for key sessions.
  • Coordinate and manage completion, collection, and organization of reporting needs for measuring educational success.
  • Responsible for updating content regularly and ensures content stays up to date. Facilitating faculty assessment and onboarding processes.
  • Define local/regional educational tactics, including program formats, target audience, and ensure compliance with all corporate and government laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and manage relationships with local/regional key opinion leaders, faculty, and key decision makers and strategically leverage these relationships to advance messaging, impact, and influence.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field of study or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in education, training, sales, or marketing in the med-tech space. Prior experience in the endovascular or cardiovascular space is highly preferred.
  • Experience applying adult learning principles preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Execution
  • Support the execution of key discipline within the Customer Event Operations organization, focusing on deployment of customer-facing events across all modalities
  • Support designated vendors (contracted benefit educators), who support customer engagement activities/events
  • Oversee the coordination of customer event deployment in aligned markets, including facilitation with internal and external stakeholders, material preparation, creation, and ordering of items
  • Deliver cross -organizational collaboration regarding virtual or onsite customer educational events
  • Engage in customer engagement reporting, project work and support to Cigna Healthcare sales and account management organization
  • Focus on the achievement of assigned goals and support in achieving functional goals
  • Inform direct managers and teams to address resource, capacity, workload balancing and operational needs
  • Focus on short-term outputs and other work areas as assigned
  • Able to self-manage assignments and execute applicable components to support customer events without direct supervision

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide segment-agnostic, customer event support to Cigna Healthcare
  • Support benefit educators in a designated geographic area. Includes all aspects of benefit educator's hiring, onboarding and coaching
  • Responsible for end-to-end coordination of customer events including material development and ordering
  • Resolve inquiries, conduct research, collaborate, and provide information to various segment business partners regarding customer engagement touchpoints
  • Identify ways to streamline procedures between departments/segments
  • Escalate non-routine issues, consulting with leadership as appropriate
  • Engage in customer engagement/enrollment planning by providing insights to supervisor/leadership on market needs to promote efficiency
  • Support designated enrollment budget and escalation processes (where applicable) to align with appropriate resource deployment
  • Maintain customer engagement activities within Salesforce and other applicable tools
  • Fulfill local market report requests and analyze the local market customer engagement
  • Follow established guidelines and procedures of benefit education events and other events as assigned
  • Act as a liaison to the sales teams and client / producer as needed including coordination of materials for event support
  • Contribute to projects to focus on efficiency and effectiveness of customer engagements processes, guidelines, and systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; in health education, health administration, marketing, business, or related field preferred
  • Ability to obtain insurance license as directed if requested by management
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks is required
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with matrix partners in the organization; ability to leverage matrix resources to drive deliverables
  • Proficient in Microsoft Programs (PowerPoint, Word), CRM system (Salesforce.com)
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing workflows, in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Bilingual or multi-lingual a plus

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 62,100 - 103,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.

The Opportunity

  • Participate in and help coordinate education programs, committees, and live events to ensure a positive end user experience such as scheduling, taking notes, tracking attendance, managing action items, ordering catering, facilitating room set up, troubleshooting issues, overseeing technical support, and creating event materials. Example programs include Clinical Education Committee meetings, CME workshops and webinars, Professional Development, and Leadership Development programs.
  • Coordinate onboarding processes such as orientation scheduling, facilitating live virtual orientation meetings, Buddy Program matching, and new hire welcome package ordering.
  • Coordinate internship program Educational Sessions scheduling and facilitation.
  • Serve as a key program contact for established programs and identify ways to increase engagement. May present at education sessions.
  • Assist with and delegate action items and conduct subsequent follow ups to maintain project timeframes to adhere to project deadlines.
  • Support instructor-led delivery and logistics and help identify which learning platform may be the best solution for the program or course.
  • Design, gather, and analyze program metrics to measure effectiveness and impact.
  • Brainstorm and research new ideas, tools, techniques, and cost-effective solutions and provide recommendations on potential usage with our programs to address goals and problems.
  • Maintain education program supply inventory and organization; coordinate shipping for in-person events.
  • Coordinate collection and organization of financial disclosure forms for clinical education initiatives.
  • Coordinate collection and processing of invoices, faculty/speaker stipends, and expense reimbursements.
  • Assist with the production of badges and printed event collateral for in-person education events.
  • Assist with Continuing Medical Education (CME) applications.
  • Coordinate with faculty on event logistics and slides.
  • Support post-event follow up such as billing, evaluation, metric gathering, and analyzing.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to two senior-level leaders including internal/external meeting scheduling, reviewing calendars for conflicts, accepting/declining meetings on behalf of leaders, reminders of meetings and logistics and/or materials that may be needed.
  • Prepare and edit professional correspondence, communications, reports, presentations, and other documents on behalf of senior-level leaders.
  • Complete senior-level leaders expense reports and track for reimbursement.
  • Attend department and project meetings and take minutes.
  • Manage Clinical Education and Learning & Development SharePoint sites and Yammer through updating content, driving traffic towards the sites, and monitoring site analytics.
  • In collaboration with SMEs, create and edit emails, letters, reports, job aids, infographics, presentations, flyers, process documentation, and newsletter announcements.
  • Edit and distribute event recordings.
  • Partner with other teams and workgroups on continuously improving administrative processes, and activities cross-functionally to create best possible learning experience for users.
  • Help track training completion status and follow up with managers and users as needed.

Required Experience and Competencies

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of administrative coordinator experience required.
  • Some college or equivalent experience required.
  • 2+ years of administrative coordination in learning and development or related area preferred.
  • College graduate preferred.
  • Data entry with minimal errors.
  • Analyze data accurately and thoughtfully.
  • Troubleshoot technical or live event issues effectively.
  • Intermediate MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills.
  • Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level of proficiency.
  • Video conferencing experience preferred.
  • Eye for presenting visual material.
  • Create engaging presentations.
  • Ability to establish and complete general office procedures and records administration.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments and action items with varying priorities underconditions requiring speed and accuracy.

We are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $4.28 - 30.36/hr., exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible to participate in our annual corporate Success Sharing bonus program, which is based on the company's annual performance. Position Overview

Shockwave Medical is committed to supporting the clinicians that use our products with a robust offering of educational programs and working closely with clinicians to improve the products and solutions we offer. The Medical Education Manager is a critical customer facing role within Shockwave Medical with the remit to develop and execute medical education programs as part of a broader educational offering. The position will work across both coronary and peripheral therapies and reports to the Associate Director, Medical Education.

The successful candidate will join a team passionate about supporting physicians, nurses, and technologists in their journey to better understand the challenges of cardiovascular disease and the role Shockwaves products like Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) and Reducer can serve as a therapeutic option for their patients. This will have specific responsibility for enhancing our US and Canada local Medical Education offering. The role will offer an opportunity to work with world class physician faculty across interventional cardiology, vascular surgery, and interventional radiology. The individual will develop and maintain productive relationships with key opinion leaders and must be comfortable in appropriate coaching of physicians in the development and delivery of peer-to-peer education.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, plan, and execute Shockwave Medical company sponsored education programs, including identifying educational needs, and development of programs and formats that meet customer and business needs.
  • At a local/regional event level, lead agenda, faculty selection & scheduling, learning objectives, content creation and physician support. Work with Medical Education event managers to co-facilitate logistics planning and execution.
  • Act as an advisor and consult with the field organization to uncover HCP learning needs and develop educational solutions to meet those needs.
  • Responsible for local/regional speaker prep for key sessions.
  • Coordinate and manage completion, collection, and organization of reporting needs for measuring educational success.
  • Responsible for updating content regularly and ensures content stays up to date. Facilitating faculty assessment and onboarding processes.
  • Define local/regional educational tactics, including program formats, target audience, and ensure compliance with all corporate and government laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and manage relationships with local/regional key opinion leaders, faculty, and key decision makers and strategically leverage these relationships to advance messaging, impact, and influence.
  • Identify local/regional speaker development needs, vet appropriate candidates, onboard, monitor progress and identify ongoing training needs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of clinical data, interventional techniques, and educational needs.
  • Collaborate closely with meeting planning and other business partners to ensure program logistics and registration are well supported and aligned with business strategy.
  • Manage expenses within assigned budget, ensuring annual goals are achieved.
  • Mentor, train and educate sales partners on Professional Education applications and program management processes and requirements.
  • Contribute to annual Needs Assessment Process and maintain compliance and reporting standards in line with Shockwave Medical HCP education procedures and guidelines.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field of study or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in education, training, sales, or marketing in the med-tech space. Prior experience in the endovascular or cardiovascular space is highly preferred.
  • Experience applying adult learning principles preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and strong project management skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.

The anticipated salary range for this position is 121,000.00 - 217,000.00

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
