Position Overview:

As part of our Defense Systems Assembly Group, the Assembly Manufacturing Technician will have the exciting opportunity to work with high precision electrical products. This position is at the front line of our semiconductor device fabrication process and in this role, the technician will have the opportunity to be mentored and work hands-on in a lab environment within a growing and evolving aerospace company.

Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be responsible for:
  • Working to written standard work instructions to set up and run wafer fabrication/micro assembly processes within a regulated clean room environment
  • Monitor and evaluate wafer production results and promptly report on anomalous findings
  • Perform wafer fabrication manufacturing tasks associated with photolithography, lift-off, thin-film deposition, wet chemical etching, and other semiconductor processes
  • Operate equipment required for wafer fabrication processes including mask aligner, plasma cleaner, furnace, PECVD, etc.
  • Perform manual micro assembly processes including die mount, wire bonding, and optical bonding.
  • Perform precise alignments as part of micro assembly and masking operations
  • Aid Manufacturing Engineering in root cause analysis efforts
  • Willingness to assist team members to maintain productivity and efficiency for organizational objectives
  • Record completion of work and key parameters in build documentation or electronic build record system
  • Follow all safety and EHS protocols and follow all PPE requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • 2 years of manufacturing-related experience: semiconductor experience preferred
  • Experience with at least one of the following fabrication methods: micro assembly, wafer processing, or window photolithography
  • Demonstrate initiative with a curiosity and aptitude to learn
  • Ability to speak up as appropriate and escalate issues as required
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate an extremely high level of precision and accuracy with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of flexibility and assist others as needed
  • Ability to work comfortably under a microscope and have the willingness to learn new technologies
  • Must be comfortable working with solvents and acids
  • Solid interpersonal communication skills and basic computer proficiency required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience grinding or polishing small optics is a plus

Diagnose and determine cause and location of failures and malfunctions and perform the electro-mechanical operations necessary to repair, rebuild, replace equipment, components, sub-systems, and systems (electrical with mechanical) on weld related equipment, fabrication equipment where methods, tools and instructions are sometimes provided.

1. Receive direction from supervision.
2. Work closely with and take direction from weld engineering in diagnosing weld quality issues and working special project alterations to welding equipment to support production and related improvement initiatives.
3. Read and follow safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA 70E, HAZMAT), work authorizations, specifications and service manuals.
4. Install new/used fabrication equipment and stations as directed.
5. Diagnose and determine cause of equipment issues, component and system failures and malfunctions and identify defective parts. Utilize Manufacturer's Manuals, schematics, calls to service centers, and other troubleshooting as necessary. Use special test equipment as required.
6. Trouble shoot both electrical and mechanical issues on equipment and repair using various tools and equipment.
7. Plan the sequence of operations and methods to be used for complete and/or partial repair, rebuilding / replacement and adjust a variety fabrication equipment for optimum performance.
8. Maintain, manage, and order consumables and spare parts for Fabrication Equipment and machines
9. Replace, repair, splice, and install pneumatic hoses, gas lines, conduits, and electrical cables
10. Operate welding systems and equipment to determine machine performance.
11. Attend company-provided electrical and/or mechanical troubleshooting training, as necessary
12. Perform Preventative Maintenance on equipment as described by Manufacturer, such as blowing out filters, replacing fluids, changing consumables, lubricating fabrication equipment, and other activities
13. Be able to operate scissor lifts as necessary.
**Basic Qualifications:**
1. High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
2. Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 25lbs regularly.
3. A minimum of three (3) years of work experience performing any welding techniques such as GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding), GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding).
4. A minimum of three (3) years of experience performing Preventive Maintenance involving fluid and filter change, lubrication and fluid checks, testing and verifications on welding machines.
5. A minimum of one (1) year of experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) documenting completed work orders assigned, maintaining parts inventory, and parts ordering.
6. A minimum of one (1) year of experience utilizing safety protocols such as LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), PPE (Personal Protective Equipment e.g. face shields, gloves), & PAPR (Positive Air Purifier Respirator).
7. Vocational or Military Technical Certification in Welding, or Mechanical Technology.
8. United States Citizenship is required.
9. Successful completion of company-provided basic electrical troubleshooting training is required.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
1. Associate's Degree in Electromechanical Engineering or related technical field.
2. Experience maintaining and troubleshooting robotic welding cells and their associated PLC systems.
3. Miller Welding Equipment Maintenance Certification.
4. Experience with troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of high voltage (1K/1K VAC) welding machines and fabrication equipment.

The hourly rate for this position is $16.11/hourly with a $1.00 shift differential per hour.
This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

**What you'll do:**
**Position Overview:**
The Fabrication Technician I will prepare aluminum and copper busbars for assembly by operating manual presses, hand grinders, and taping bars prior to being sent to the Epoxy process. This role may also be responsible for gathering material for work centers.

**In this function you will:**
- Comply with the environment, health, and safety guidelines.
- Sustainment of 5S+ in area.
- Handling of housing to be hole punched and cut and supporting taping processes.
- Operate press brakes according to manufacturing instructions and/or assist other operators while bending heavy or large parts on press brake.
- Tape bars based on order requirements to ensure that copper and/or aluminum is protected during the epoxy process.
- Utilize hand grinders to remove excess weld material and support loading and unloading the robotic welders.
- Assist in gathering all items, welded and single pieces, by shop order and monitor their location through the weld and then deliver to proper work centers.
- Work to established procedures, manufacturing information, drawings, blueprints, sketches, written or oral instructions from supervision or engineering.
- Use material handling equipment to move product and supplies. May lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally with assistance.
- Flex to other fabrication work areas as needed, including press brake, downdraft, masking, and housing punch.

SAIC is seeking multiple levels of **Cable Fabrication Technicians** to join our team in **North Charleston, SC** to support the **US Navy** to perform cable fabrication work by reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, and cable run sheets to assemble cables.
**JOB DESCRIPTION:**
+ Perform cable fabrication work for multiple government projects
+ Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and cable run sheets to verify correct build of cables
+ Assemble cables to specifications via cable run sheets and/or schematics; to include but not limited to multi-pin connectors and RF cables
+ Assemble cable harnesses and junction box assemblies; including MIL-SPEC cylindrical connectors, back shells, terminal boxes, and radio frequency (RF)
+ Proficient in the use, care and maintenance of crimp tools, heat gun, and various electrical and mechanical tools
+ Maintain, troubleshoot, test and check all of the cables that are built and produced in the shop using TMDE (test, measure, and diagnostic equipment)
+ Keep accurate inventories of all tools and materials on hand
**Qualifications**
**REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:**
**Level 1 Engineering Technician Requirements:**
+ **Education:** Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED
+ **Experience:** No experience with degree/formal training or three (3) years with HS/GED of practical experience to include performing one or a combination of the following duties: assembling or installing equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting; performing simple or routine tasks or tests such as tensile or hardness tests; operating and adjusting simple test equipment; records test data; and gathering and maintaining specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.; performing computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas; plotting data and draws simple curves and graphs. Individual shall be capable of performing simple routine tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures. Work is checked in progress or on completion
**Level 2 Engineering Technician Requirements:**

**Level 3 Engineering Technician Requirements:**

+ **Experience:** Three (3) with degree/formal training or five (5) years with HS/GED of practical experience to include design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings. Individual shall have notable experience performing one or a combination of the following duties: constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions; following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment; conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data; extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation; and assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information. Individual shall be capable of performing assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. **Level 1 Electronics Technician Requirements:**
+ **Education:** High School diploma or GED. Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or four (4) year electronics apprentice program. Formal electronics training, to include: Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors
+ **Experience** : Two (2) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair, maintenance and checkout
**Level 2 Electronics Technician Requirements:**
+ **Education:** High School diploma or GED. Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or four (4) year electronics apprentice program. Formal electronics training, to include: Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors
+ **Experience:** Four (4) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair, maintenance and checkout. Must demonstrate at least one (1) year of practical experience in electronics installation. Experience may be achieved simultaneously
**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:**
+ Must have experience with cable fabrication, to include assembling connectors, cable harnesses, junction boxes, etc.
+ Must have related experience in laboratory testing, manufacturing, or maintenance
+ Must be proficient with all tools related to cable fabrication
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**
+ Must be able to lift, pull, push and carry up to 50 pounds, unassisted, on a regular basis
+ Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, sit, stand or squat for extended periods
+ Must be able to walk distances of at least one-half mile daily
+ Must be able to repeatedly manipulate and handle objects needed for cable fabrication, including reaching, grasping, twisting, turning and operating equipment and tools
+ Must be able to move and arrange heavy cable supplies and electronic equipment
