Upon completion of the program, you will have the opportunity to join a Financial Advisor team to deliver a consistent experience in support of the organization's goals-based wealth management strategy. What will you do? During the WPA Program period, you will learn from wealth planning experts, top Financial Advisors (FAs) and develop the skills necessary to become a successful wealth planner at RBC. In addition to training, you will successfully obtain one of the accredited wealth planning designations (CFP preferred, other targeted credentials would be considered, CFA, CPA, AWM). The WPA educational component combines e-learning, case studies, virtual group work, and hands-on training to educate you on the RBC product and service offerings as well as RBC’s Wealth Planning process and related tools. You are expected to have your Series 7 and Series 66 and begin pursuing your designation during the length of the program. The next phase of the WPA Program focuses on the application of the knowledge and skills you acquired. In addition to ongoing development through virtual classroom sessions, online modules and case studies, you will begin working directly with an FA and their team in an assigned territory. This will include working with the Minneapolis home office as well as the local territory. Additionally, you will complete your credentials coursework and capstone project during this phase. You will contribute regularly to the development of RBC WealthPlans and present plans to clients. You will proactively engage FA teams and lead financial planning meetings to deliver advice and wealth management solutions to meet the needs of each client. This phase is very hands on and will include a mentor from the Wealth Planning Group. You will complete the credential educational component and progress towards certification exam. At month 24, upon successful completion of the WPA Program and your credential plan, you will be eligible to join an FA team and establish yourself as a new FA in the local market. There will be opportunities to continue your technical development as a cohort of the WPA Program. In your new role, you will understand and communicate the benefits of engaging clients in a goals-based relationship, drive productivity by using best-in-class tools to deliver an exceptional client experience, and along with the Financial Advisor, provide comprehensive wealth management advice to your team’s existing client base while attracting new clients. This will include conducting discovery conversations, talking through wealth plan results, illustrating solutions and conducting annual reviews. The foundation of knowledge and skills you acquire as both a WPA and a junior FA will differentiate you in the marketplace as a true wealth manager and prepare you for a successful career as an FA. Provides specialized wealth planning for High Net Worth / Ultra High Net Worth (HNW/UHNW) clients to help meet their long-term financial objectives. Leverages specialized knowledge and experience to partner collaboratively with other planning professionals and Relationship Managers (Private Bankers, Investment Counsellors, Investment Advisors) to provide clients with comprehensive wealth planning advice and solutions encompassing financial, tax, succession, philanthropic, will, estate and trust planning in connection with their overall wealth planning needs. The Head Of Wealth Planning Specialists is responsible for leading a group of ~ 30 Wealth Planning professionals around the world. These professionals partner closely with Citi Private Bankers to assist in evaluating the client's holistic financial situation and opportunities to improve outcomes through a range of potential solutions including wealth structuring, insurance, trust management, and various investment and lending opportunities.
This individual will also work closely with Sales leadership to help identify client engagement opportunities to progress strategy and focus on increasing market share. This role will require an individual with extensive Wealth Planning knowledge, exceptional relationship management, communication and influencing skills, and strong sales experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Engagement Partner closely with Private Bankers and client facing teams to provide expertise on UHNW Wealth topics.
- Strategy Definition and Implementation Define the operating and engagement model on how best to maximize the resources of the Firm to help assist clients. This will also require partnering closely with Financial Planning and Insurance Product Heads to support the continuous enhancement of our capabilities, tools and ensure client needs are being met with optimal client experience.
- Distribution Team Leadership Effectively hire, mentor, retain talent and ensure a high-performance culture. Hold the distribution team accountable to client/ segment activity levels, performance metrics, results and adherence to our risk management process.
- Sales Material Work with Financial Planning and Insurance Product to develop and enhance internal and external presentations & marketing materials for offerings; ensure regional needs are met with global consistency and sharing of best practices.
- Education & Training Intimately understand the current Planning offerings; partner with Product and Segment teams to schedule and lead internal training sessions (regional and global).
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- Location: New York
- BS/BA in finance, accounting, mathematics, statistics, or related field required; Master's Degree preferred
- FINRA, SIE, 7, 66, 24 - Additional professional accreditation such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) a plus
- 15+ years of relevant work experience, with demonstrable Wealth Planning leadership, experience in insurance and/or annuity sales management.
- Strong knowledge of trust principles, financial planning concepts and insurance product positioning
- Ability to think strategically and navigate through a complex business environment to deliver results.
- Strong work ethic, organizational skills and the demonstrated ability to work productively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Collaborative team player and transparent leader with positive approach
- Superior written and verbal communication skills and effective presentation skills across various mediums and audiences
- Ability to travel
