We are currently looking to hire for the following shifts; weekdays from 9a-5p and for an opener on Saturdays.

POSITION SUMMARY

Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area while pool is in operation. Performs lifeguard duties with Lifeguard II and/or Head Lifeguard.
  2. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures. Completes related reports as required.
  3. Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff while enforcing pool rules and regulations.
  4. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
  5. Performs safety and program equipment checks and ensures equipment is available as needed.
  6. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
  7. Performs: chemical testing, bathing loads, and water conditions, as required, and documents results and takes appropriate action.
  8. Completes accident/incident reports for any occurrences while on duty.
  9. Maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
  10. Attends all staff meetings and a minimum of 10 hours of in-service training per calendar year.
  11. This position will adhere to policies and procedures related to boundaries and supervision with consumers. Manage high risk activities and follow mandated reporter requirements.
  12. Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Minimum age of 15.
  2. Certifications: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid.
  3. Certification: Current YMCA Lifeguard or American Red Cross Lifeguard.
  4. Ability to demonstrate (pre-hire) and maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
  5. Completion of required trainings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedules may vary per the Y’s hours of operation. Most Y’s are open 7 days a week: Mon. – Fri. 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Climbing, sitting, standing, pushing, walking, kneeling, and stooping.

Do you love the energy of the stage and inspiring kids to shine with confidence? Are you creative, enthusiastic, and ready to share your passion for theatre with young performers? If so, we invite you to join our Theatre Arts team at the Salem YMCA !
About the Role:
As a Theatre / Acting & Improv Instructor , you'll lead fun and engaging theatre classes that spark imagination and build confidence in young performers.
  • Saturdays: Acting and Improv classes for ages 4-13
  • Thursdays: Junior Actors Club for ages 5-7 , part of our youth theatre productions

You'll design creative lessons, guide students through games, scenes, and character work, and help them develop teamwork and stage presence-all in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Essential Functions:
  • Assist at and during rehearsal events, ensuring set-up and break-down are completed
  • Lead rehearsal and vocal warm-ups to prepare the cast before performances
  • Practice and run scenes or songs with the cast as directed
  • Attend all rehearsals and production events to ensure a seamless production process
  • Provide coaching to actors on character work as directed
  • Assist with all technical elements of the production
  • Support technicians and designers as needed
  • Participate backstage during performances or as assigned by the technical director
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Shift One: Thursdays, 4 - 5pm (1 class/production) plus tech/show weeks.
  • Shift 2: Saturdays 9am - 1:30pm (3 classes).
  • Prior experience working backstage or leading theater and musical productions.
  • Passion for theater and interest in developing and supporting productions.
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to lift, bend, twist, and reach as needed to execute job responsibilities
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to production locations
