Under the direction of the Property Manager, the Building Mechanic will ensure a clean and effective YMCA facility operation of maintenance of the facility, supervise evening housekeeping staff, and perform routine and preventative maintenance as per the in-house system
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 year's experience managing large facilities or multiple facilities. Must have a valid PA driver's license.
Essential Functions:
Drywall repair, painting, and minor electrical/plumbing/tile repairs.
- Maintenance and cleaning of the Y Facility and grounds.
- Assist in managing, coordinating, and scheduling work projects to be completed with minimal disruption to members.
- Snow removal from walkways.
- Set up and tear down of various activities.
- Conduct daily evaluation of equipment and facility and follow up on all safety and cleanliness-related issues.
- Assist in creating staff schedules and monitor time sheets
- Be an active member of the management team working with all directors to ensure facility cleanliness, maintenance of facility equipment, and recommend improvements

The Swim instructor plans and delivers effective swim instruction, using the Y of the USA swim curriculum, in a designated program area for YMCA members, program participants and non-members. Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate skills and explain them clearly to class members. Instructs at the appropriate skill and age level for the class.
- Plans each teaching class in advance, prepares to start class on time, with proper material, equipment, and in proper attire.
- Observes all YMCA attendance and safety rules when teaching classes.
- Maintain positive rapport with participants and parents of participants.
- Conducts all classes in accordance with YMCA of Cleveland standards and guidelines.

About the Job
If you are passionate about teaching kids, and the sport of swimming, then the YMCA is the right place for you. We are looking for a fun an energetic swim coach to provide supervision and direction for a safe, positive, and organized competitive swimming program. The swim coach will follow the philosophy and goals of the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington aquatic program, which support youth development in spirit, mind, and body by strengthening family support and encourage social responsibility.
Some of the exciting tasks you will do as a Swim Coach include but are not limited to:
- Ensures adequate safety procedures are in place for all practices times
- Designs and delivers practice sessions that teach competitive swimming stroke skills and train swimmers in preparation for competition
- Evaluates stroke technique of all team members
- Provide continuous, positive corrective feedback to students and parents on their swimming efforts.
- Attends and participates in the YMCA swim team program, meetings, and trainings
- Attends parent meetings, competitions and other team activities
- Must be 17 years of age
- Current YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguard certification
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Obtain YMCA Swim Coach Certification within three (3) months of hire
- Will be required to complete the YMCA Principles of YMCA Competitive Swimming and Diving within first year of employment
- Obtain ASCA (American Swimming Coaches Association) level 1 certification- The Foundations of Coaching within first year of employment
- Must have the physical ability to meet all prerequisites for Lifeguarding
- Must be able to lift and move around objects of 40 pounds or more
- Must be able to stand or sit on the pool deck for up to 4 hours
- Must be able to actively teach the YMCA competitive swim program in the water
- Must be able to communicate clearly with both children and adults
- Ability to see and hear participants in distress or asking for assistance

GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Program/Senior Program Director, the Group Exercise Instructor will be responsible for leading classes and giving general fitness and health education information to participants.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience Requirements:
(Conditions of employment will vary depending upon which Track you are on when hired)
1. Track 1: Current, Accepted Group Exercise Certification
Track 2: No Current Group Exercise Certification
2. Track 3: No Current Group Exercise Yoga/Pilates Certification
3. Minimum age of 18
4. Must have completed entry-level instructor training
Physical/Mental Requirements:
1. Must be able to use weight and frequently perform the following physical activities; jump, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for extended periods of time, walk, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, hear and have visual acuity to perform detailed tasks
2. Must have ability to motivate people and communicate effectively; both orally and in writing
3. Must possess problem solving, organizational and task management skills and have ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment
4. Must be detail oriented and exhibit a high degree of accuracy and alertness
5. Must demonstrate initiative in absence of supervision
6. Must be able to build meaningful relationships and relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner

Job Requirements:
1. Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision and values
2. Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire
3. Complete CPR/AED, FA, Oxygen, YUSA Online Trainings, Foundations of Group Exercise or ACE, AFAA, Yoga
4. Alliance Certification, in accordance with Conditions of Employment
5. Possess a clear and complete understanding of the general principles of health education and be familiar with basic concepts of fitness and exercise
6. Must learn all emergency procedures and action plans for the branch
7. Understand and abide-by all policies and procedures as set forth by the association
8. Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch; including evenings and weekends
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Fulfilling confirmed seasonal teaching schedule or finding substitutes for the remaining schedule if the need arises.
2. Responsible for consistently maintaining class attendance above 8 to remain on the schedule.
3. Beginning and ending classes on time; being available to answer participant questions as needed.
4. Responsible for organization and clean-up of studio equipment; reporting any facility or equipment irregularities, unsafe conditions or feedback to supervisor verbally and in writing.
5. Responsible for staying current with trends in the field/industry by attending outside/inside trainings; developing a base of information that is current in particular discipline from which participant's questions can be answered and specific information given out as requested.
6. Responsible for maintaining required number of CEC's to keep certifications current; required expired certifications will result in being pulled from the schedule until it is current.
7. Notifying your supervisor 24-hours in advance of any expected absenteeism and finding subs in as far in advance as possible.
8. Being able to substitute classes for other instructors when needed.
9. Contacting Group Exercise Coordinator/Fitness Director/Wellness Director and/or Manager on Duty if there are problems arising; no matter what the circumstance, instructors are not permitted to cancel class.
10. Responsible for becoming familiar with other family YMCA programs, membership policies, and general information.
11. Responsible for attending staff meetings; understanding that missing two in a row may result in disciplinary action.
12. Supporting Strong Community Campaign fundraising efforts.
13. Other Duties assigned.
