- Nursing certification in one or more specialty-specific areas issued by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or other approved national governing body needs to be obtained within 2 years, and
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and enrolled into a Master's Degree in Clinical Nurse Specialist Program.
Experience Required:

Overview:
• Department: Operating Room / Surgery
• Schedule: Nights, 8 hour shifts. 11:00PM - 7:00AM
• Facility: Prime Healthcare St Francis Hospital
• Location: Evanston, IL 60201
The Registered Nurse (RN) reports directly to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor.
The RN is responsible for delivering both direct and indirect patient care in the perioperative setting, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This includes care for patients across the lifespan: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
The RN collaborates closely with the surgical team-including the surgeon and anesthesiologist-to coordinate patient care. They also supervise and guide OR Technicians and other support personnel, ensuring professional nursing standards are upheld.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care throughout the perioperative experience
Promoting seamless care coordination across departments to support continuity of care
Maintaining compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
Actively participating in unit-based Performance Improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and ongoing education
Serving as a resource and mentor to peers and support staff as appropriate
The RN plays a vital role in sustaining a culture of excellence, safety, and collaboration within the surgical services department.
Qualifications:EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
4. Current PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
5. Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training
6. Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred
7. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
