The Facilities Maintenance Technician - Handyman is responsible for carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, minor mechanical and electrical maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Read, use, and interpret measuring devices, gauges and inspection tools

  • Brainstorms with other maintenance personnel, and outside technical support as needed.

  • Controls down time by scheduling repairs with the Facilities Manager.
  • Maintains good communications with Facilities Manager

  • Ensures the work is completed with technical excellence, and in an efficient and cost-effective fashion.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have 3 or more years of experience in a technical, hands-on position
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 40lbs with repetitive movements
  • Ability to push and pull items
  • Ability to stand and/or walk up to constantly during the shift
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications required and SAP experience preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responds to maintenance service requests in a timely manner.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Prior hands-on experience diagnosing and troubleshooting repairs on heavy equipment and building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and boilers.
  • Ability to become certified in AWS D1.0 & D1.4
  • Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Working knowledge of fabrication techniques including stick and wire welders.
  • Working knowledge of small engine repair.
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment, including but not limited to as well as overhead cranes, and forklifts.

**Facilities Maintenance Technician**
**Schedule** : 7:00am-330pm M-F (OT based off demands)
**Pay** : $28.00-$3.00 per hour
**Job Description**
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for completing day-to-day building repairs, preventative maintenance tasks, and recurring inspections as assigned through our online work order system. You will maintain equipment, tools, inventories, and logs in collaboration with your supervisor and will complete work orders based on priority level and urgency, ensuring clear communication with tenants and supervisors. Additionally, you will maintain the building lighting system, energy management system, and monitor various building equipment.
**Responsibilities**
+ Complete day-to-day building repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.
+ Perform recurring inspections as assigned.
+ Order supplies and maintain equipment and tools.
+ Communicate delays to tenants and supervisors.
+ Maintain building lighting systems, including bulb and ballast replacements.
+ Ensure energy management systems are running efficiently.
+ Monitor and maintain heating and cooling equipment, fire alarms, and plumbing equipment.
+ Perform preventive tasks as required.
+ Maintain property grounds, including sweeping, trash removal, and snow removal.
+ Respond quickly to emergency situations according to departmental protocol.
+ Oversee and inspect work performed by outside contractors.
+ Adhere to all safety standards and codes of conduct.
+ Act professionally and courteously at all times.
+ Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience with building automation systems, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work.
+ Strong customer interaction skills.
+ Proficiency in facilities maintenance and carpentry.
+ 5+ years of related work experience and/or technical training.
+ High school graduate or GED.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills.
+ Safety consciousness and ability to follow instructions.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is 28.00 - 33.00/hr.
Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be

Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the ammonia refrigeration system and related equipment. We are hiring for first (6a-2:30p) and second shift (2-10:30p).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors, adjusts and logs ammonia systems pressures and temperatures.

  • Follows Epac work orders.

  • Repairs and maintains all refrigeration related equipment including compressors, condensers, evaporator, pumps, valves, vessels and piping.

  • Repairs and maintains the glycol system associated with the refrigeration system including pumps, valves, tanks and piping.

  • Repairs and maintains the steam boiler and related equipment and piping.

  • Repairs and installs evaporator condensate drains.

  • Maintains HVAC systems based on Epac or instructions given.

  • Suggests ways to control labor and supply costs as well as improve processes.

  • Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) are followed.

  • Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).

  • Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free work place.

  • Reports any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management.

  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

Essential Skills and experience:

Education:

  • High school diploma, GED or trade school equivalent.

  • Two years Trade School in refrigeration field.

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to work overtime, irregular hours or rotating shifts.

  • Four years to five years experience in the following areas Ammonia refrigeration, electrical and plumbing.

  • Ability to read and understand a pressure temperature chart.

  • Ability to use a multimeter and refrigeration gauges.

  • EPA certified for refrigerants.

  • Previous food manufacturing experience is helpful.

  • Ability to speak, write and understand English.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, formulas, and policy and procedures manuals.

  • Ability to write standard information into related paperwork.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft applications.

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of diverse individuals within the plant and corporate environments.

  • Ability to effectively present information to management.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is helpful.

  • Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment.
