Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert agronomic consultation and support to farmers on crop management, nutrient optimization, pest control, and soil health.
- Implement and manage precision agriculture technologies, including GPS-guided equipment, variable-rate application systems, and remote sensing (drones, satellite imagery).
- Collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets from various sources (soil tests, yield monitors, weather stations, satellite imagery) to develop actionable recommendations.
- Develop and recommend site-specific management zones and prescriptions for seeding, fertilization, and irrigation.
- Conduct field trials and research to evaluate the effectiveness of new technologies, products, and practices.
- Train farmers and farm staff on the proper use and interpretation of precision agriculture tools and data.
- Collaborate with software developers and engineers to provide feedback and improve precision agriculture platforms.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in agricultural technology, agronomic research, and industry trends.
- Prepare comprehensive agronomic reports and presentations for clients and internal teams.
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues related to precision agriculture equipment and software.
- Promote sustainable farming practices that minimize environmental impact while maximizing economic returns.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in agronomy, with a significant focus on precision agriculture technologies and data analysis.
- Proficiency in using precision agriculture software (e.g., John Deere Operations Center, Climate FieldView, Ag Leader SMS Advanced) and GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Strong understanding of crop physiology, soil fertility, plant pathology, and entomology.
- Experience with data analysis and statistical software.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts effectively.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently to farm sites.
- CCA (Certified Crop Adviser) certification is highly desirable.
