Job Summary
The Night Custodial Assistant Supervisor works alongside the Night Custodial team, within assigned areas, and ensures all duties are completed safely, thoroughly, and on time. In the Supervisor's absence, this position assumes full supervisory responsibilities of the team. In addition to assisting and monitoring the work of the team in their areas, the position is also responsible for completing custodial duties in an assigned area.

Salary Range
$21.00-$23.00. This is the expected hourly range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget.

Essential Functions
  • Monitors the work of the Night Custodial team in all assigned tasks and projects, working collaboratively alongside team members and managing personal cleaning assignments.
  • Organizes team workflows by setting priorities, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Completes timekeeping procedures for Night Custodial team members.
  • Arranges and participates in staff training sessions, workshops, and demonstrations to improve custodial methods and practices.
  • Promotes a safe work environment through routine safety inspections and ensures all team members adhere to safety practices and procedures at all times.
  • With the Night Custodial Supervisor, assists with equipment upkeep, identifying repair or replacement needs.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with custodial staff and other departments across the University.
  • Routinely makes rounds between buildings to inspect work areas, monitors supply usage, verifies inventory levels, and ensures custodial equipment is in safe working order.
  • Regularly inspects work performed by assigned custodial staff, providing feedback and coaching to ensure standards are understood and met
  • Performs daily cleaning tasks, maintaining the same standards expected of the Night Custodial team, including trash collection and removal, restroom servicing, floor cleaning, dusting, window cleaning and other glass surfaces, light bulb replacement, snow shoveling, and de-icing building entrances.
  • Uses janitorial equipment such as automatic scrubbers, high-speed buffers, carpet extractors, upright vacuums, and low-speed floor scrubbers.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with custodial staff and other departments across the organization.
  • Frequently performs physical tasks, including climbing ladders to clean high surfaces or replace light bulbs, and lifting or moving custodial equipment, furniture, and supplies as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of custodial equipment and supplies including their proper usage.
  • Experience with special project skills, e.g., floor stripping, carpet shampooing, etc.
  • Ability to make competent decisions concerning custodial duties.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback when needed.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with students, staff, and the general public.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions (temperatures varying from below 32 degrees to over 90 degrees) for periods of over one hour, subject to hazards such as proximity to moving parts, electrical current, etc., and involves heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly in order to move objects. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and lift 50 pounds.

Join a team of experienced and diverse geotechnical engineers, where you will provide high quality design and consulting services as part of multi-disciplined project teams for challenging domestic and international, power and industrial projects. These engineering services include but are not limited to the geotechnical aspects of foundation design (shallow & deep), earth retention systems, dam stability analyses/inspections, insitu instrumentation/monitoring programs, subsurface exploration, seismic stability, liquefaction analyses, ground improvement, groundwater supply wells, and field oversight of exploration and construction activities. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of diverse geotechnical field and design experience.
Typical responsibilities may include:
+ Provide designs and work closely with all design disciplines and business groups within S&L
+ Prepare and review detailed calculations to
+ Develop soil parameters for both static and dynamic conditions
+ Determine drilled and driven pile capacity
+ Evaluate shallow foundation capacity and settlement
