**General Summary:**
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Thermal Limits Systems Engineer to join our team in San Diego. As a key member of the Thermal Limits Systems team, you will be responsible for maintaining the thermal and power control of Qualcomm's chipsets and developing algorithms and techniques to optimize product performance through thermal, peak current and battery power control and deploying new system-level optimizations (hardware and software) to align with a product's specified requirements. Finally you will ensure these new mechanisms can ultimately be tested and successfully productized.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Develop and maintain thermal and current limits control of Qualcomm chipsets for mobile handsets, compute or automotive products
+ Develop algorithms and techniques to optimize performance, power consumption and thermal performance for various use cases, ensuring that they fit in their given envelope
+ Define and review thermal and limits system testing and validation on silicon and system-level platforms
+ Collaborate with architecture, design, verification, and process teams to ensure thermal and peak current requirements are met throughout the product development lifecycle.
+ Analyze thermal data and feedback recommendations to the design team for improvements
+ Work closely with power and performance teams to optimize thermal and power trade-offs.
+ Define and review competitive analysis to benchmark our products against industry standards and competitors' offerings.
+ Analyze power/thermal limits solutions of competitors' devices and identify areas for improvement and innovation to maintain a competitive edge.
+ Define and develop a roadmap for thermal and limits management strategies for chipsets
+ Provide technical guidance and support to other engineering teams on thermal-related issues.
+ Collaborate with other departments such as product management, marketing, and customer engineering to ensure comprehensive product development and optimization.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited university with 12 years of engineering experience, or a Master's degree in STEM from an accredited university with 10 years of engineering experience
+ Strong understanding of thermal management principles and techniques
+ Proficiency in thermal testing and validation
+ Strong background in Systems Engineering.
+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
+ Strong communication and collaboration skills
+ Familiarity with thermal simulation tools and methodologies
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
+ Experience with thermal management for high-performance mobile handset, compute and auto products
+ Working knowledge of power distribution networks and power management
+ Knowledge of power and performance optimization techniques
+ Familiarity with system-level thermal modeling and simulation.
+ Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for thermal management.

**General Summary:**
Qualcomm's XR System Architecture Team is looking for power and performance analysis engineer who will work on driving the next generation technologies and architectures of Snapdragon SoC, enabling the future of Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality applications.
The successful candidate may be responsible for:
+ Understanding various power domains and voltage rails of the Snapdragon SoC and the interdependencies among the power architecture elements. Capturing and analyzing system performance through power waveforms, compute performance (utilization, MIPS/cycles), and bandwidth (memory/cache traffic).
+ Characterizing the performance of XR algorithms by quantifying the software and hardware workloads as well as collective system performance by performing on-silicon execution. Gathering and analyzing complex empirical data (power, compute workload, memory traffic etc.) to isolate factors that impact optimal performance of future SoC architectures.
+ Managing the power analysis lab setup consisting of hardware and software resources/tools like prototype power boards, power waveform equipment and software tools. Developing automation/scripts for controlling test scenarios execution and output data analysis.
+ Using system level use case modeling to validate power and performance KPIs.
For this multi-disciplinary role, an ideal candidate has good knowledge of SoC blocks and characterization of power, performance, thermal aspects of chipset architecture as required by AR/VR algorithms and applications. Knowledge in one more of the following areas is preferred:
AR/VR, camera and display technologies, GPUs, NPU, CPU and Hardware Accelerators. Computer vision, machine learning, perception algorithms.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Master's degree in engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- 4+ years' experience in power analysis, SoC architecture with emphasis on areas listed above
- Experience in conducting power/performance analysis, SoC architectural trade-offs, and/or SW-HW trade-offs
- Knowledge of graphics pipeline, computer vision pipelines, machine learning methods and/or camera pipelines
- Knowledge of AR/VR technologies and CV/ML based algorithms like 6DoF,
- Experience with system level modeling and on-silicon analysis and profiling (performance and/or power)
- Outstanding problem-solving skills

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**

**Job Qualifications:**
