**Job Summary**
Dominion Energy's Power Delivery Group is seeking motivated and experienced Power Systems Studies Engineer(s) to be part of the Electric Transmission Planning Team. The successful candidate will mainly be responsible to conduct various power system studies including power flow & contingency analyses, short circuit, congestion & production-cost modeling, and transient stability to support the development of the PJM Regional Transmission Expansion Planning (RTEP) process. Primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
+ Perform power system studies including power flow & contingency analyses, short circuit, congestion & production-cost modeling, and transient stability in accordance with NERC Reliability Standards, PJM Planning Criteria, and Dominion Energy Electric Transmission Planning Criteria.
+ Participate during competitive FERC Order 1000 open windows (Market Efficiency & Reliability) by conducting various power system studies and developing innovative and cost-effective transmission solutions.
+ Passionate about solving difficult technical problems, providing innovative solutions and taking ownership of the solutions provided.
+ Develop and maintain power flow and short circuit models required for the development of the Regional Transmission Expansion Plan.
+ Prepare reports and presentations to support activities of the Electric Transmission Planning Team.
+ Work collaboratively with PJM Planning, the Electric Transmission Planning Team, and the Electric Transmission Operations Engineering Teams to perform annual PJM RTEP assessments, generation interconnection and retirement analysis, and develop transmission solutions to address the system needs.
+ Provide support to other member of Electric Transmission Planning Team to solve complex engineering problems.
+ Assist in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of computer-based tools for the Electric Transmission Planning Team.
+ Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
There are multiple positions available which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.
**Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience**
**Senior Engineer:** Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
**Staff Engineer:** 8+ years of relevant engineering experience (An Engineering PhD can be substituted for up to 5 years' experience based on research engineering work on related projects approved by executive leadership.)
+ Knowledge of power system analysis software packages such as PSSE, Power Gem's TARA software, PROMOD, Aspen One-Liner, Transmission Operations Energy Management System (EMS), etc., is preferred.
+ Demonstrated experience in power system studies (power flow, short circuit, congestion & production-cost modeling, and transient stability)
+ Experience writing scripts, macros, or code to develop tools to automate work processes is preferred.
+ In-depth knowledge and understanding of substation components and their functions.
+ Understanding of the protection principles and practices for transmission lines, distribution feeders, and major substation equipment.
+ Self-motivator who can work cooperatively in a team environment but is comfortable independently seeking knowledge and information.
+ Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments.
+ Provides expert technical consultation to other engineers and management.
+ Strong technical and organizational leadership skills, including the ability to provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
+ Candidates should have a strong electrical engineering background, preferably in electric power systems.

**What you'll do:**

In this function, you will:
+ Follow customers specifications and internal specifications for project implementation.
+ Prepare submittal documentation for projects and meet with customers to discuss project requirements and review submittals.
+ Select components and create bill of materials.
+ Provide sketches, mark-ups and direction to Electrical Designers to develop project drawings. Review and approve project drawings. You may also be responsible for completing the CAD drawings.

+ Write operating sequences and instruction manuals.

+ Paralleling Switchgear Applications
+ Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required.

As a Senior within the Sustainability: Renewable Energy practice, you will advise clients on tax issues related to renewable energy clients and projects. Timmons Group is seeking aCivil Project Engineer II/III forourRenewable Energy Group locatedin our Richmond, VA office. Projects in this group focus on land development for utility scale wind and solar farm projects around the country.A typical scope on a project includes road design, crane path design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design, mass grading, erosion and sediment control design and field reconnaissance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling and AutoCAD Civil 3D technology.
  • Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems.
  • Prepare reports complete with all text and exhibits
  • Prepare specifications materials through the use of research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection and payment of items specific to a project.
  • Work to complete design details and plan sets.
  • Perform research and writes objective summary reports which are used in the completion of the project work or inspection.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates.
  • Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff.
  • Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff.

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • A bachelors or master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related degree.
  • Ideal candidates would have 2 or more years of hydrologic and hydraulic experience
  • EIT preferred.
  • CFM certification preferred
  • Working knowledge AutoCAD Civil 3D strongly preferred
  • Technical writing skills

+ Act as the Subject Matter Expert for the renewable remote operations market and Emerson's solutions for Wind, PV & BESS energy applications. Understand SCADA, APM, EMS & GMS systems, NERC CIP requirements and IT/OT convergence solutions. Understand operations, asset management, control applications, and the government/industry drivers within the market and provide knowledge and training to the North America Sales force.
+ Identify target applications, competitors, and/or customers in which Emerson controls are particularly well-suited to fill niches and opportunities in the power utility market. Identify potential third-party business partners to fill gaps in our solution portfolio.
+ Develop solution messaging for renewable energy solutions to address pains and desires of North America Power Users. Coordinate with and drive the sales force as needed to promote Emerson's renewable energy solutions.
+ Collaborate with PWS Marketing and Communications team to develop product literature, presentations, and other media to support renewable energy promotions.
+ Collaborate on New Product Development processes for solar and energy storage market products. Capture 'voice of the customer' feedback and marketing information to drive future product enhancements.
+ Identify, prepare for, and attend trade events that promote Emerson renewable energy solutions.
**Who You Are:**
You use serve as a strategic partner to build, grow, and maintain profitable and long-lasting relationships with key accounts. You use customer insights to drive and guide the development of new offerings. You are capable to be a visionary and able to articulately paint credible pictures and visions of possibilities and likelihoods. You adjust communication content and style to meet the needs of diverse customers.
**For This Role, You Will Need:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing or a similar STEM related field
+ Proven strong understanding of how utilities, IPPs, ISPs and others operate and manage Wind, PV and BESS facilities, how they use enterprise software solutions and how they are applied in the North American power market
+ Knowledgeable of Renewable energy control room requirements and NERC CIP requirements
+ Familiar with CAPEX / OPEX budgeting process for utilities and IPPs
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in the utility scale Wind, PV or BESS operating industries for a technology provider, service provide or end user
+ Minimum of 5 years of related experience in utility scale power generation marketing, sales, projects, operations or product development
+ Ability to travel 25-35% of the time
+ Legal authorization to work in the United States
