POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintenance Mechanic - 3rd Shift 10:30pm to 7:00am

The Maintenance Mechanic conducts repairs to the physical plant and plant equipment, conducts preventative maintenance and project work and ensures continuous operation of mechanical and electrical systems on mobile and fixed manufacturing equipment.

Ways you will make a difference

Disassembles, inspects, reassembles, troubleshoots, repairs, welds and replaces malfunctioning parts or equipment

Installs change parts on our production machinery to allow us to run a different size, shape or product.

Performs routine preventive maintenance procedures as per schedule.

Sets up tablet presses for operation (tooling changes).

Adjust tablet presses during operation to improve operation.

Cleans, lubricates and adjusts sections or parts of plant equipment to improve efficiency, quality, or operation.

Reads blueprints, diagrams and machinery manuals to diagnose problems, identify parts, and learn proper equipment operation.

Installs new equipment.

Actively seeks to find problems in assigned area and corrects before the problems become critical (under close supervision).

Communicates conditions of equipment by: completing appropriate maintenance records, transferring knowledge of conditions to incoming mechanics or lubricators at shift change, and informing the supervisor of significant problems.

Displays cooperation by working closely with manufacturing personnel.

Improves work related skills by actively pursuing outside schooling or plant provided programs.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

2-year Technical Degree in Maintenance field such as Industrial Maintenance or Mechanical Maintenance, OR related area of study, OR Journeyman Certification preferred

Experiences that will support your success
Completion of 2-year Technical Degree in Maintenance field such as Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance or related area of study AND 1 year of prior experience as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is required.

Experience must include diagnostic troubleshooting, repairing and replacing defective parts, adjusting machinery, and modifying units to meet proper operating specifications.

Experience in a food-manufacturing environment is preferred

Working knowledge in the area of pipefitting and rigging

Basic knowledge of steam distribution systems and principles

**Job Summary:**
This role is the primary service and maintenance contact for Trane Technologies customers in a defined market with a diverse commercial base including Healthcare, Process Manufacturing Facilities, Education Institutions, and Office Complexes. You will be commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and starting up HVAC systems in a commercial environment. In order to perform your task you will utilize your knowledge of air conditioning theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts. This position affords you the opportunity to work with internal and external partners ranging from new facility set ups to existing facility retro fits. + Coordinates with team leader/project manager and customer to precisely understand requirements for all on-site installation and repairs by forecasting issues, gathering materials and synchronizing on-site work.
+ Represents the company by serving as the direct customer contact and is responsible for products and equipment on assigned projects, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at customer's location.
+ Uses cutting edge software and technology, along with a variety of hand-tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.
+ Displays team effort and dedication to customer by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weekends as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays.
+ Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.
**Qualifications:**
+ A High School Diploma or equivalent required, and typically 5 plus years of experience in HVAC. Technical School or formal training is preferred.
+ Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad).
+ Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:
+ DUI in the previous 5 years.
+ Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
+ EPA Certification
**Additional Requirements and Environmental Exposure:**
+ Must be able to safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt
+ Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties
+ Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction
+ Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands
+ Must be able to reach your hands over your head
+ Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours
+ This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing ladders. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs.
+ Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 350 lb. total weight limit, while carrying equipment of 50 lbs. or less
+ Must be able to maneuver confined access areas, as small as 30" vertical x 45" horizontal
+ Must be able to comfortably and routinely access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15' to 20', and occasionally, up to 50 feet + This role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment and other variable environmental conditions based on location

This role is performed in a variety of environmental conditions with exposure to outdoor temperature variations, noise, vibrations, gas or fumes, grease, cleaning solvents, degreasing agents, machinery and its moving parts, odors, and dust particles.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Independently diagnoses and repairs various HVAC equipment and components. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
+ Air-cooled and water-cooled systems up to 1000 tons and hot water boilers up to 200 hp.
+ Hydronics and piping systems
+ Various sizes of air conditioners, pumps, air handlers, cooling towers, Spot Coolers, gas heaters, controls and electrical components
+ Maintain accurate field service reports, including refrigerant tracking and timekeeping logs
+ Regular use of power tools, hand tools, and other mechanical equipment to service and repair rental systems as needed
+ Operate equipment vehicles, including forklifts
+ Load and unload trucks
+ Communicate professionally with coworkers, subcontractors, and customers
+ Perform other duties to support the business as needed, including inventory count, general maintenance, cleaning and organizing
+ Provides sales leads to office personnel
+ Promotes Carrier products and services to customers
+ Assist in orienting, training, assigning and checking of work
+ Adherence to EHS protocol at all times
+ Start-ups and teardowns
**Required Qualifications**
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ Valid Driver's License
+ 2+ years of Commercial HVAC experience
+ Ability to obtain and maintain Forklift Certification
+ Must possess a EPA Universal certification
+ Ability to travel up to 25%/50% of the time
+ 1+ year experience with Windows operating system, MS Outlook, Internet Explorer and/or other web browsers
+ Must be able to lift and manipulate objects up to 50 pounds
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Expertise in creating, mapping and updating project applications
+ Associate's Degree or HVAC technical certification
+ Rentals experience
