The Mechanical Products Team (MPT), Shipboard Effectors Department is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for our Louisville KY site in both development and production support across multiple programs. This position is in Louisville, KY (on-site) This Principal Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to expectations in the design, development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle. Development work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and presentations in design reviews. What You Will Do Preparation of technical documents and presenting in design reviews. Be seen as a Subject Matter Expert for Mechanical Design issues providing mentorship, development and review of lower-level Engineer’s work. Strong collaboration and communication skills in working with the Chief Engineer, team leaders, and peers. Developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product life cycle including design, manufacture, integration and test and design solutions for multiple systems. Meet cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product. Coordinate with other disciplines in the development of design verification test plans, qualification test plans, and producible designed Occasional travel to suppliers may be required to resolve production issues, technical performance issues or attend critical program engineering reviews. Qualifications You Must Have Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Aerospace, Engineering Science, Math, or other Engineering disciplines 10 years of professional experience in mechanical design or related industry Experience in managing Engineers Experience with CAD solid modeling tools and analysis tools Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
