Job Description
Bowhead seeks a Junior GCCS-J System Administrator to support our customer on the PICRD II contract in Colorado Springs, CO.
Responsibilities
• Provide computer network systems and client support for LANs and stand-alone systems/intranets. Coordinate with Host Base communications squadron to ensure and maintain security, integrity, and operations of HQ USSPACECOM systems and networks. Operate and maintain J6 processes, IT system hardware, and software.
• Provide on-site administration for GCCS-J classified network servers and Agile Client workstations during core hours and during after-hours or weekend work if needed.
• Complete STIG checklists, vulnerability patching, configuration, and operation of GCCS-J and Agile Client/Server.
• Assist USSPACECOM JOC watch standers with trouble reports, configure network channels, KML, full motion video, and Agile Client plugins, and install/configure Splunk universal forwarder.
• Ensure HBSS components' antivirus and point products are up to date.
• Implement changes affecting systems and enclave and provide changes to J6 approval boards for approval.
• Administer systems using Red Hat® Enterprise Linux 8, Windows Server® 2022, Windows® 10/11, Sybase, PostgreSQL, and JBOSS Enterprise Application Platform.
• Coordinate and respond to the Global Management Center (GMC).
Qualifications
• BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science, from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience.
• Must meets the Core and Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Tasks (KSATs) defined in the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework for Work Role 451 (NIST: OV-SA-001).
• Must be capable of providing hardware configuration, server administration, and sustainment of a Global Command & Control System - Joint (GCCS-J) v6.x or newer server enclave consisting of approximately six physical servers running a mixture of Red Hat Linux, Windows Server, and VMWare operating systems, and up to approximately 61 virtual Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers.
• Extensive knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods.
• System Administrator experience with Global Command & Control System - Joint (GCCS-J) version 6.X
• Computing Environment certifications to include Microsoft Windows and Linux+
• Preparing for Cyber Command Readiness Inspection (CCRI) inspections
• Splunk Enterprise
• Supporting GCCS-J Version 6.1.0.x hosted on various OS platforms
• Operating Full Build Architecture large build, which includes the entire baseline
• SACOP/SA Build Architecture
• Basic COP Build Architecture
• Administration experience with Red Hat Linux environments (minimum of three years preferred)
• Ability to maintain cyber security compliance and install necessary Windows or PM system patches from Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) DADS website
• Intrusion detection using AESS and Tychon software and install necessary patches/updates available through DISA
• PC over IP (PCoIP) environments
• Red Hat System Administrator (RHSA)
• VMWare Certified Professional (VCP)
• Graduate of DISA's GCCS-J 6.x Advanced System Administration Course
• Experience with GCCS-J Agile Client (AGCLT) v6.x or newer software, COP, and I3.
Certification Requirements:
• Required: CompTIA Security+
• Desired: Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP.
Must currently hold a Top Secret security clearance with SCI, SAP/SAR, and NC2-ESI eligibility.

In this role you will organize, install, and support government organization's computer systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems. The Network / System Administrator will help to architect, design and analyze network models. Requires participation in decisions about buying future hardware or software to upgrade organization's infrastructure. Provides technical support to computer users to help solve users' problems. This position will support activities within Special Access Programs (SAPs) supporting Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, such as HQ Air Force, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and Military Compartments efforts. The position will provide "day-to-day" support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) activities.
- Provides Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to Tier 1 (Service Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems. Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
- Manages system and server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability
- Researches and recommends upgrades, patches, new applications, equipment, and tool sets that enhance the systems capabilities
- Designs automation solutions for systems using scripting languages such as Windows PowerShell, and Unix Shell for troubleshooting and routine tasks to reduce manpower time
- Strong ability to produce and maintain varied technical documentation
- Develop and document system administration standard operating procedures
- Manage system and server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability
- Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems
- Provides SME support during security incident response follows up all incidents with necessary reporting requirements
- Works with Cybersecurity Personnel to establishes a Disaster Recovery (DR) / Business Continuity Plans
- Follow Operations and Maintenance (O&M) checklists to maintain the service (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly O&M checklists); build Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Advanced Experience with Toolkits such as: SEIMs (Logrhythm), Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) / Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP), Mandatory Access Control (MAC) / Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) concepts (e. g. SE Linux extensions to RHEL, PitBull, AppArmor, and Sentris), video teleconferencing/ Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Oracle/MS SQL database security
- Technical competency in one or more of the following supported platforms: MS Hyper-V/VMWare/ESXi/Xen Hypervisors, Enterprise networking and firewall systems, Group Policy configuration, WSUS, Lumension, Bitlocker, SQL Server, TomCat, Internet Information Service (IIS), Windows Server 2016/2019, and Windows 10/11
- 100% onsite is required in Colorado Springs, CO
- Must have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or other relevant Engineering field from an accredited university with minimum 15 years of experience
- Top Secret (TS) security clearance with eligibility for Secret Compartmented Information (SCI)
- Willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph to achieve SAP security Clearance within 6 months of hire
