Job Title: Project Controls- EstimatorJob Description
We are currently seeking an Estimator to join our growing PM/CM team. The Estimator will collaborate closely with owners, project managers, engineers, construction managers, and other stakeholders to deliver accurate cost estimates and evaluate scope change orders. The role primarily supports government projects, including PM/CM contracts, Design/Build projects, and Design/Bid/Build, with project sizes ranging from $50,000 to $ Million. These projects encompass K-12 Education Projects, Water/Wastewater Projects, and various government facilities.
Responsibilities
+ Perform quantity take-offs.
+ Read and interpret construction drawings, focusing on civil, architectural, and structural areas.
+ Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
+ Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
+ Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure accurate and timely cost estimation.
+ Monitor and report on project costs, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
+ Conduct risk analysis and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential cost overruns.
+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction methods.
+ Provide support during the bidding process, including reviewing and analyzing bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
+ Conduct value engineering studies of selected projects.
+ Analyze change order requests to determine and ascertain the validity of cost elements.
+ Analyze bidding activity in the local market to assist in developing bidding strategies for upcoming projects.
+ Solicit vendors, suppliers, and contractors for pricing and confirm scope.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field OR 5+ years of detailed cost estimating experience without a bachelor's degree.
+ Minimum 3+ years of proven experience in developing and managing cost estimates for medium to large-scale projects.
+ Strong understanding of project management principles, including scope, time, cost, and risk management.
+ Familiarity with local codes, building regulations, and AACE estimate classification systems.
+ Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools such as Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, etc.
+ Strong knowledge of construction estimating tools and Microsoft Excel.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders.
+ Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
+ Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Certifications such as CEP, CCE, CCEA or ASPE.
+ Experience conducting market analysis for bidding strategies.
+ Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.

**Primary Responsibilities**

    • Logistics loading operations

  • Assists the Sr. DD Manager in overseeing the dry dock management system administration and development.

  • Follows up with Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure the scope is entered into the dry dock management system with technical specifications and financial information within the required timeline.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in ship/shipyard operations and project management
  • 5 years of experience in cruise ship, naval, or offshore industries
  • 5 years of project management experience
  • Knowledge of classification society and flag rules and regulations
  • Autodesk CAD experience preferred
  • Experience with cultural, organizational, and change management
  • Proficient in computer applications and project management tools
  • Experience with multiple drydocks in the cruise industry
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • PMP certification and AMOS experience preferred

This position is hybrid, requiring three days in the office per week (Tuesday Thursday). Starting in 2027, employees will work on-site at our new headquarters in Miami, FL.

+ Travel - movements of contractors and berthing
+ Work with all Project Managers and ship's team to develop the interferences, mitigation and outages plan. Preparing Gantt charts to identify overlap and mitigate to ensure all projects are completed on time
+ Assist the Sr. DD Manager with oversee the Drydock management system administration and development.
+ Support the Sr. DD Manager in following up post drydock retrospectives, and identify best practices for implementation, as well as areas for improvement
+ Follows up with Superintendents and Project managers, to ensure the planned scope is entered in the dry dock management system, with technical specification and relative financial information within the required timeline.
+ Works with external & internal stakeholders in the redaction of the Dry Dock general **Risk Assessment.**
**Requirements**
+ 5-year ship/ Shipyard operations and project management or 5-year ship Cruise ship, naval or offshore industry experience or 5-year ship Project Management
+ Knowledge of classification society and flag rules and regulations
+ Autodesk CAD experience preferred.
+ Experience with significant cultural, organizational, and change management
+ Proficient in the use of computer business applications and project planning/management tools.
+ Experience in multiple drydocks in the cruise industry.
+ Strong organizational and communication skills.
+ PMP Certified & AMOS experience preferred.
**Beginning in 2028, this position will remain on the same Tuesday-Thursday in-office schedule but will transition to our new headquarters in the Miami, FL area.**

  • Manage facility project design and construction by coordinating, reviewing, and administering the work of Architects, Engineers, Consultants, and Contractors.

  • Create cost management solutions for facility projects. Manage vendors, engineers, and consultants to ensure facility projects are completed on budget and per schedules.

  • Responsible for project management, project planning, budgeting, cost control, value engineering, and project cost analyses.

  • Review and evaluate bid proposals/estimates with procurement.

  • Manage facility projects and project planning efforts, including both new installations and upgrades to existing facilities.
