**Position Summary:**
A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a **new graduate** direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they **transition into practice** . They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas, listed below.

**Qualifications**
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
+ 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience.
+ Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State in which s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residency if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
+ BLS certification - American Heart Association
+ Additional certifications may be required based on population(s) served and services provided.
+ Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

+ Take vital signs, collecting lab specimens, performing EKG's, and administering IM injections.
+ Perform all x-ray/imaging services according to provider's orders and updates patient charts accordingly.
+ Collect patient history and documenting EHR appropriately.
+ You may apply splints, dressings and bandages.
+ Assist with check-in/check-out when needed including auditing charts.
+ Maintain records and logs on activities including radiology, in-house lab work, drug screens, and lab work sent out to other labs.
+ Keep patients and visitors informed of clinic progress.
You should have:
+ 1+ year of clinical experience in a patient care setting is helpful.
+ Experience using an EHR system is beneficial.
+ High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
+ Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Assistants or completion of an approved program (BOTP) is required.
+ Radiological Technologist (RT) or Limited X-Ray Machine Operator (LXMO / LMRT), license is required in state of residency.
+ Current certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is preferred.
+ Current BLS Certification is required within 30 days of start.
+ Must obtain a Federal Breath Alcohol Screening Certification and Federal Drug Screening Certification within 3 months of employment or promotion.

Technical School/2 Years College/Associate’s Degree: Surgical Technology, or program board eligible for SFA certification require. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Experience:
Three to five (3-5) years surgical tech experience required. Five to eight (5-8) years surgical tech experience preferred.
Technical Skills:
Continuing education programs to maintain and enhance clinical competencies related to perioperative or First Assisting practice.
License/Certification:
Current CSFA Certification (through NBSTSA), CSA (through NSAA), or SA-C certification (through ABSA) required. Certification must be maintained for employment. Current American Heart Association (BLS).
Other:
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department.
