ABF Freight is Now Hiring CDL-A Local Driver / Forklift Operator - Full-Time in Pittsburgh, PA
Pickup and delivery of cargo to and from various destinations usually within proximity of the consolidation/distribution center. The loading and unloading of trailers utilizing the same techniques, technology and procedures as a dock worker. Actual duties and schedule may vary depending on terminal location.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload cargo.
- Perform various tasks ranging from check-in, tractor/trailer inspection, tractor set up, and the pickup and delivery of cargo.
- Exercise independent judgment regarding the building and tearing down of the trailer to utilize time, resources, energy, and physical demands effectively and efficiently, while complying with all weight distribution laws.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Operate a forklift as needed.
- Complete routine paperwork effectively, and properly log loading sheets.

- Make more money! Wages are Teamster Union Scale which are greater than most other carriers! Hourly employees also receive overtime pay after 8 hours/day.

Requirements:
- 1 year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience (Candidates with less than 1 year experience may be eligible for training).
- Class-A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker and hazardous materials endorsements and no automatic restriction
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Good stable work record.
- Safe driving record (from MVR and previous employment).
- Be able to pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and meet DOT medical requirements.
- Shift days and hours required for this position vary by location and may include days, nights, and/or weekends. Being able to work the required hours at this location will be considered a minimum requirement.
Education:
- High School Diploma / GED
Work Hours:
- The schedule may vary depending on the Service Center location.
Compensation:
- This is an hourly position paid weekly.

Job Summary: Join our team as a Class B Commercial Driver, where you will be responsible for safely delivering and picking up containers at customer locations. Build strong relationships with customers while ensuring an efficient and incident-free service experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely operate commercial trucks equipped with a patented lift mechanism for loading and unloading containers.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Adapt to add-on deliveries based on business needs.
- Utilize company handheld computer for navigation and delivery verification.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes as necessary.
- Inspect and clean containers to maintain a presentable appearance for deliveries.
- Assist customers with rental paperwork and payment coordination.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding customer inquiries and issues.
- Perform necessary repairs on containers and lifts in both field and storage settings.
- Support storage center operations when required.
- Maintain cleanliness of the truck interior and exterior.
- Be flexible to take on additional duties as assigned.
Management & Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Report directly to management, typically including a Market Manager or Territory Manager.
- This position does not involve direct management of other employees.
