Brooks is looking for a Technical Support Engineer as we accelerate our growth journey.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Provides technical support to Customers and Field Service staff who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, and/or repairing complex equipment, sophisticated systems (computer, software and/or applications). Responds to situations where standard procedures have not isolated or fixed problems in equipment, systems, and/or software. Responsibilities include coordination of problem-solving efforts between customers and field service personnel, software support, investigation and analysis of product problems. Recommends and implements proposed solutions to resolve reported problems and/or escalates to appropriate parties. May be involved with installation/implementation and training programs.
- Use equipment to replicate field problems to establish knowledge management articles capturing standard methodologies, developing Best Known Methods (BKMs), troubleshooting guides, procedures, and incorporate into the global service training curriculum.
- Lead multi-functional teams to drive resolution of escalated field issues.
- Lead projects normally associated with product quality escapes requiring service activity to perform remedial action, retrofits or upgrades.
- Service lead to engage with New Product Introduction / Product Development program(s).
- Work with Brooks training group and product Business Unit to develop and deliver product training classes and customer demonstrations.
- Analyze tool performance data to find opportunities for more service and tool business potential including performance improvement upgrades for product Business Unit review and development.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the areas of customer escalation management, problem resolution / case management, and decision making. Prior experience in Product Support or 2nd level Technical Support is a plus.
- Experience in electro-mechanical / electronics problem solving, critical thinking skills, troubleshooting methodologies, problem resolution quality tools and continuous improvement methodologies. Relevant Military technical experience / training a plus.
- Experience communicating clearly and promptly with customers, sales account managers, field service engineers, business unit and management functions.
- Knowledge, operation and installation of Brooks Automation products is a plus.
- This position may require up to 20% travel (domestic and international) and availability for emergency work calls.
Base Salary Range: $98,769.66 USD to $33,629.54 USD
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Maintain and repair complex AV and Broadcast systems throughout a distributed campus in multiple cities
+ Provide strategy for preventative maintenance for components and systems within sophisticated broadcast AV systems
+ Conduct the preventative maintenance plan, suggesting ideas and providing solutions to consistent problems in collaboration with the Maintenance Supervisor
+ Utilizing your career experience, serve as mentor to staff and offer knowledge sharing on relevant areas of expertise
+ Work closely with engineering department to execute maintenance program
+ Provide technical support and the application of best practices in the field of AV engineering, supporting all related disciplines such as troubleshooting, monitoring, calibration, maintenance support, and documentation
+ Apply troubleshooting best practices and root cause analysis (RCA) to identify weaknesses, minimizing recurrence, and improve future design and integration
+ Research and write, contributing to SOP and RCA reporting in support of live show operations
+ Repair and replace equipment working with the in-house engineering teams as well as third party vendors, service personnel and/or outside contractors
+ Update database of equipment assets and inventory
+ Recommend alternatives to infrastructure including replacement of systems and equipment
+ Update system documentation and service manuals related to and useful for installation work, and diagnostic reference for current repairs and future upgrades

**Skills & Qualifications**

The Staff Reliability Engineer is responsible working with product development and sustaining teams to ensure Cepheid is developing highly reliable products through the application of Danaher reliability tools (e.g. Failure Mode, Effects & Criticality Analysis, structured problem solving, reliability modeling, reliability predictions, etc.). This technical role will be responsible to support assessment and improvement in final product reliability. + Designs, validates, executes, and documents test methods and protocols that are directly relevant to reliability testing (HALT, HASS, Accelerated Life-testing) and help mitigate risks in product designs
+ Hands on with statistical tools such as JMP, Minitab, DOE+, Reliasoft Weibull+, ALTA, BlockSim and experience in programming (Python, Matlab) and data acquisition tools and techniques, for measuring electrical and physical phenomenon such as temperature, voltage, current, torque, force, pressure, or sounds

**The Team**
As a member of our Reliability Engineering team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, performance, and resilience of our platform. The team applies advanced software engineering and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to drive system reliability, scalability, and operational excellence across the organization.
**The Role**
+ Join a highly technical, collaborative, and innovation-driven team that blends Site Reliability Engineering with modern Software Engineering practices to build resilient and scalable systems.
+ Lead reliability efforts for a fleet of 80+ FedRAMP-compliant microservices running on Kubernetes, applying SRE principles to drive observability, automation, and incident prevention.
+ Develop and enforce SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets to drive reliability-focused development.
+ Provide mentorship and technical leadership across the SRE and engineering teams.
+ Own high-priority application incident escalations, performing deep technical analysis and restoration within defined SLOs, while continuously improving detection and response mechanisms.
+ Engineer solutions to enhance the availability, latency, and performance of production services-automating manual processes to eliminate toil and scale operational efficiency.
+ Collaborate closely with platform and application engineering teams to conduct post-incident reviews, extract insights, and implement systemic changes that improve overall reliability.
**The qualifications you need:**
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
+ Minimum of 8+ years of experience in software engineering or SRE roles.
+ Deep experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
+ Proficiency in Java, the Spring framework, and Python (or a similar scripting language) in a Linux environment.
+ Prior experience contributing to Site Reliability Engineering initiatives or similar operational roles.
+ ?Demonstrated ability to lead projects and influence engineering culture.
+ Knowledge of SRE principles, including SLI/SLO design, error budgets, and toil reduction strategies.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
