Associated Bank is seeking a high-caliber, experienced tax professional to join our team as a Tax Manager. This is a unique opportunity to step into a well-structured, evolving tax departmentthat is executing a strategic shift-enhancing efficiency, modernizing workpapers, leveraging Workday integration, and optimizing tax compliance processes.

The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing income tax provision and compliance functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with ASC740 and federal and state tax laws. This role plays a key part in quarterly and annual tax provision calculations, managing the outsourced tax compliance process, and identifying opportunities for process improvement within the tax department. The Tax Manager will also provide technical guidance on state and local tax matters, support tax planning initiatives, and collaborate closely with finance and accounting teams on strategic tax considerations, including M&A and business transactions. Additionally, this role will be instrumental in integrating Workday into tax workflows, mentoring junior team members, and supporting audits by serving as a primary point of contact for internal and external auditors.

This person will also manage:

  • Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740 & Provision Process) - Lead and managequarterly and annual tax provision calculations, ensuring compliance with ASC 740. Review workpapersprepared by the Senior Tax Analyst, including deferred tax inventory, rate reconciliation, and return-to-provision adjustments. Ensure seamless integration of tax provision workpaperswith financial and regulatory reporting.

  • Tax Compliance & Oversight - Serve as a liaison to Big 4 tax advisors, ensuring accurate and efficient outsourced tax return preparation. Oversee state and local tax filings, providing technical guidance and review. Monitor legislative tax changes and assess their impact on the company's tax position.

  • Tax Strategy and Efficiency - Collaborate with finance and legal teams to analyze the tax impact of corporate initiatives, including capital investments, restructurings, and strategic transactions. Support tax-efficient structuring, acquisitions, and business transactions while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Process Optimization & Technology Integration - Contribute to ongoing modernization efforts, ensuring workpapers are structured efficiently and reduce manual effort. Support integration of Workday with tax provisioning and reporting processes. Identify opportunities for automation and process streamlining.

  • Team Leadership & Collaboration - Provide mentorship and guidanceto the junior team members, ensuring skill development and strong performance. Collaborate closely with the financial reporting teamto align tax reporting with broader corporate objectives. Support audit processes, serving as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors.


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting or Finance. Required

  • 7-10 years Tax Accounting. Required

**Tax Planning Consultant Minimum Requirements**

+ Support external and internal audits by providing the required documentation and responding to inquiries.

As a Tax Senior, you will work within an engagement team and draw on experience in accounting and taxation to provide tax compliance and tax process advisory services to multinational clients. Qualifications:
Required:
+ Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week
+ 3+ years' experience providing tax compliance services or preparing and reviewing client work, with a focus on international taxation
+ Bachelor's degree
+ Technology skills include the following: Advanced Excel, VBA, Alteryx, and Power Query, Power BI, and/or Python
+ Advanced Excel includes the demonstration and use of formulas such as Index Match, SumIf, Xlookup, and other data analytical formulas
+ Advanced international compliance software skills including the following: Corptax and/or Thompson Reuters OneSource
+ Full use and knowledge of the international modules of either software system is desired. Includes using software to perform calculations for sub-f, GILTI, 163(j), and FTC. Knowledge of global trial balance imports, E&P automation, and analytical analysis of software results is also desired.
+ Experience performing tax calculations (i.e., sub-f, GILTI, FDII, 163(j), FTCBEAT)
+ Experience in U.S. tax return compliance requirements, ie: Form 5471, Form 8858, Form 8865, Schedules K-2/K-3, Form 8990, Form 8991, Form 8992, Form 8993, Form 8975 and Form 1118
+ Experience with foreign tax credit (FTC) planning including gathering income sourcing data and performing computations of FTC
+ Understanding of International tax process improvements and other areas affecting international tax such as, earnings and profits studies, outside tax basis analyses, transfer pricing, debt capacity analyses, amended returns, and PTEP analysis.
+ Basic understanding of Pillar II rules, and general knowledge of Pillar II compliance processes
+ Ability to travel up to 30%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $77,070 to $175,500.

Work you'll do
As a Deloitte Tax intern, you'll work with diverse and talented teams to help clients analyze the tax effect of complex decisions, reduce overall tax rates, and pursue performance objectives. You will collaborate daily with our tax team to perform research and analysis, and utilize your consultative skills to turn findings into actionable solutions. During your internship you'll interact with multiple clients, providing you exposure to a variety of organizations and a stronger understanding of applicable tax implications for different clients.

- Manage multiple assignments in a team environment in-person and virtually
- Apply problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills

- Bachelor of Science/Business Administration, Master of Science in Accounting or Taxation
- Strong academic track record (minimum GPA of 3.0)
- Definitive plans for meeting minimum educational requirements for CPA eligibility (which may differ from the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam) in the state of your assigned office location
- Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within in a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 - 3 days per week
- The start date for this position will be in Winter 2027
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment
- Technology-related coursework highly desirable
- Strong academic track record (GPA of 3.2 or higher)
- Relevant work experience (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs)
