To Provide Timely, Quality Maintenance For Fedex Vehicle Fleet And Ground Support Equipment Which Requires Preventative Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Repairs, Modifications, And Documentation.
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Four (4) Years Fleet, Automotive Or Truck Vehicle Maintenance Experience And Applicable Licenses/Vocational Training. Knowledge Of The Use And Operation Of All Automotive Equipment And Testing Equipment, Gauges And Tools Normally Associated With The Troubleshooting And Repair Of Hydraulic, Gasoline And Diesel Automotive Equipment. Possession Of A Complete Set Of Hand Tools, Including Metric Sizes. Ability To Work Without Supervision For Extended Time Periods. Must Be Able To Lift And Maneuver Heavy Vehicle Components. Must Meet Qualifications As Outlined In Section 391 Of The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
FMCSA Covered Safety Sensitive Position. Medical Exam Required. Subject To Regulatory Alcohol & Drug Testing, which includes testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine & opioids.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Minimum Education
High school diploma/GED. Vocational training from an accredited automotive-related vocational school preferred. ASE Master certification preferred.
Minimum Experience
Four (4) years fleet, automotive or truck vehicle advanced technical repair and maintenance experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the use and operation of all equipment and testing equipment, gauges and tools normally associated with the troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic, gasoline, diesel, electric, and/or hybrid motorized equipment. Proficient skills in operating a personal computer. Demonstration of teamwork and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials and to respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.
Job Conditions
Possession of basic set of automotive hand tools including metric sizes. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and maneuver any weight above 50 pounds with assistance on a regular basis. Ability to work without supervision for extended time periods. Must be able to work in noisy, non air-conditioned/heated work area. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Must be willing to work any shift. Must possess a valid driver's license in state of residence. Must meet qualifications as outlined in section 391 of the federal motor carrier safety regulations. Medical exam required. FMCSA-covered safety sensitive position. The Prototype Vehicle Technician is a critical hands-on role responsible for the assembly, modification, maintenance, and repair of prototype vehicles and related systems.
What you'll do.
+ Assemble prototype vehicles and components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and instructions.
+ Modify and repair existing prototype vehicles to incorporate design changes and improvements.
+ Perform diagnostic testing on vehicle systems (electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic) to identify and resolve issues.
+ Fabricate and install custom parts and components as needed.
+ Maintain accurate records of work performed, including modifications, repairs, and test results.
+ Collaborate with engineers and designers to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions.
+ Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and company policies.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work area.
+ Participate in vehicle testing and data collection activities.

You'll have.
+ High school diploma or equivalent required
+ Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an automotive technician, preferably with experience working on prototype vehicles or in a research and development environment.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills.
+ Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and fabrication equipment.
+ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents.
+ Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Knowledge of vehicle systems (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, etc.).
