Successful candidates will perform maintenance and repairs on pre-production test vehicles, conduct safety inspections, perform specialized test procedures and document findings on reports in a clear and concise manner.

Role Responsibilities

• Perform instructed tests and repairs with great attention to detail
• Document tests, repairs, and configurations in descriptive and understandable notes
• Fabricate and install instrumentation as required to perform tests
• Must be flexible and willing to travel and/or drive a tractor-trailer for full shifts when needed
• Other duties as assigned; cleaning shop, oil changes, engine overhauls, driving, etc.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who offers many of the following skills:

• Minimum of two years of heavy-duty mechanic experience.
• Knowledge of diagnostic programs and willingness to learn new diagnostic programs
• Be prepared to work weekends or overtime if test validation is necessary
• Be highly organized, dedicated to assignments and committed to safety
• Must be able to understand and operate current electronic office equipment (PC hardware and Microsoft Suite software (Office/Word/Excel) and interface with data collection devices

The Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) will work on equipment and systems that are unique to emergency vehicles. The Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) is required to apply knowledge to engage in the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and testing of emergency response vehicles in accordance with Emergency Vehicle Technician Qualification standards for Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT). Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) must be able to perform physically demanding tasks that may require accessing confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Technician should understand the Out-of-Service Criteria, Inspection, Diagnostic Checks and Maintenance, Road Tests, Performance Testing

• Technician should understand the design & performance requirements for Aerial, Pumper, and Initial Attack Fire Apparatus and understand the test and delivery data requirements for a Pumper Fire Apparatus

• Technician should understand the hydraulic principles of water movement in pump operations, the theory and mechanical principles of pumps, pump controls and accessories, the operation of a fire pump and related accessories, the periodic preventive maintenance and inspection requirements, the necessary procedures to repair and overhaul a fire pump and the procedures of conducting a pump performance test

• Technician should understand the function & application of electrical components and accessories, system requirements and performance evaluation, evaluation of wire size, insulation, and circuit protection, proper wire repair procedures and proper routing techniques, equipment and component protection, and the function, operation, testing of gauges & warning devices, vehicle batteries, starting systems, charging systems troubleshooting practices used to diagnose and repair.

• Technician should understand the design requirements for aerial fire apparatus; the testing, inspection, and documentation requirements of all aerial fire apparatus; hydraulic systems of an aerial apparatus; electrical systems of an aerial apparatus; accepted practice in service and repair of aerial apparatus; understand the principles of operating aerial apparatus.

• Technician should understand the principles Foam Systems to include: transfer pumps, flushing systems, instruments and controls, interlocks, check valves, foam tanks, metering valves, proportioning systems, foam agents, eductors, foam pumps, testing foam system, foam concentration range, wind speed, and order of discharge.

• Technician should understand the principles Nozzle and Turret Systems to include: piercing nozzles, discharge patterns/distances, non-aspirated, aspirated, electric controls, manual overrides, micro-processors, joysticks, auto oscillation, hydraulic controls, actuators, ground sweep systems, under truck nozzles, dual agent turrets, dual rate turrets, bumper turrets, roof turrets, interlock systems, elevated water-way systems, and parallel multiple agent nozzle.

• Technician should understand the principles Ancillary Agent Systems to include: instruments and controls, refilling agents, caking and fluffing, plumbing, discharge and blowdown systems, check valves, safety valves, pressure regulators, pressure vessels, hydro chemical nozzles, dual agent nozzles, propellant gases, interlocks, flow and range, and performance parameters for clean agent systems

• Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using Technical Manuals (TM's) and/or Electronic Technical Manuals (ETM's).

• Technician should understand the basic operating principles of Allison On-Highway transmissions; preventive maintenance support of the Allison Transmission; basic troubleshooting procedures; basic understanding of Allison electronic controls and Allison Transmissions output retarders.

• Have a working knowledge of how to operate lifting devices, hand and pneumatic tools. Repair, and replace components, engines, transmission, and sub - assemblies.

• Assist team members in solving maintenance problems by analysis and troubleshooting.

• Maintains appropriate government required paperwork and files (Job Packets) necessary for the maintenance and repair of the equipment.

• Engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.

• Maintains tools and equipment, and cleans work areas to maintain a safe work environment. Be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions when necessary.

• Ensure that all tasks are performed safely and meet NFPA / Government/Army standards when applicable.

• Ensure all deficiencies and parts are annotated properly on all forms as required by applicable policies and procedures.

• Perform duties as required to support the mission and contractual requirements.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.

• Minimum two (2)+ years of experience as an EVT Level I Certification.

• Employee is required to maintain a valid state-issued Driver's license and applicable Government/Army license.

• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Do you want to work with an outstanding team? We are now seeking a full-time Emergency Vehicle Technician to perform installation and repair to customer agency vehicles per Fairview and/or manufacturer's guidelines. This position is eligible for a $3,000.00 sign on bonus!

Full-time, 80 hours per two weeks

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00AM - 3:30PM. No weekends!

Job Expectations:
