The Senior Civil-Structural Engineer/Designer should have at least ten years of design engineering experience in an EPC setting. Responsibilities are varied and include preparing and providing estimates, scope of work documents, technical reviews, analysis and design, and input for
Proposal/Geotechnical Investigation, Engineering, Bid and Construction phases.
As well, assist project and engineering teams in developing and implementing site-specific civil-structural design methodology, estimates, and scope of works with the company budget and schedule in mind.
Emphasis is on experience with Hydraulic and Hydrological design of industrial plants in the Gulf Coast and other regions across the US.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate with in-house Engineering Delivery team and other E&C Centers as well as third-party contractors and firms.
- Verify input received from internal and external design team members and vendors by highlighting apparent inconsistencies, errors and omissions.
- Interface and expedite outside EPC/engineering entities to perform scope, budget and schedule.
- Check EPC construction deliverables for thoroughness of design and engineering
- detail.
- Perform engineering and design as required for civil-structural design typical for industrial infrastructure and plant construction
- Assist the project and construction team in resolving civil-structural issues as they
- arise during engineering and construction.
- Review vendor/fabricator shop drawings as required.
- Answer RFIs and TQs as required.
- Support the engineering delivery group on other technical requests as required.
- including interdisciplinary aspects (piping, E&I, etc)
- Contribute to the improvement of design in-house or techniques, or improvements
- (dynamic equipment, cooling towers, piling etc)
- Be able to obtain PE and provide responsible charge duties for civil-structural
- scope
- Have a good understanding of structural design in terms of foundations, structural
- steel, connection designs
- Have a good understanding of civil-related activities, including hydrological design,
- routing for both greenfield and brownfield developments
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering with PE (hard requirement)
- 10 -25 years of experience in an EPC setting. Over 25 years is overqualified
- Travel on average 25% to project locations and engineering offices as required. Travel will be international mostly.
- Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection
- Current TX Professional Engineering License
- Hydrological Design of Stormwater and Effluent Systems for Industrial Plants, including hydraulic structures and conveyances
- Ability to understand, interpret and implement local regulations pertaining to temporary and permanent detention, retention, and sediment basins
- Capability with Civil-3D, Storm CAD, HEC-RAS, Atlas 13 & 14 (Texas) etc
- Design of Concrete Structures & Piles as required
- Design of Steel Structures and Anchorage as required
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Smart Plant Review and Navisworks.
- Capability with Structural Design Programs, Such as STAAD, Mat3D
- Ability to use standard and national building codes (IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC etc) for design, population of site data sheets, and more
