Summary

The Director of FP&A will play leadership role within the Finance team, providing financial oversight and strategic insights to support the company's growth and profitability objectives. This role will oversee financial planning and analysis for Kendo’s Emerging brands: Ole Henriksen and Lip Labs. The position will report to the VP of Finance and have one direct report.

Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Planning

  • Lead the development and execution of financial strategies that align with business goals.
  • Oversee the preparation of comprehensive budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-range business plans for Ole Henriksen and Lip Labs.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Provide insightful analysis on financial results including variance explanations for revenue, margin, operating expenses, and other key financial metrics.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly management reporting packages that include P&L and expense reviews along with analysis of key business trends.
  • Develop and present financial models to support decision making related to business initiatives, trade spend, new distribution opportunities, capital + marketing investments, and resource allocation.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities for financial viability including new Lip Lab boutiques.
  • Analyze Boutique financial KPIs to optimize store profitability, including managing store payroll.
  • Ensure timely delivery of accurate financial information to stakeholders. Partner with Accounting to ensure that month end close activities are closely coordinated and accurately reported in timely manner. This includes creating and managing monthly expense accruals.
  • Prepare presentations for Senior Leadership Team.

Process Improvement & Systems Integration

  • Drive continuous improvement in planning processes through automation tools or process re-engineering efforts in Anaplan and Power BI
  • Champion the implementation and integration of new FP&A systems such as Anaplan and Power BI to enhance data quality and efficient analysis.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting;
  • 10+ years of experience in finance ideally in consumer products and/or beauty with emphasis on budgeting, forecasting, planning, analysis, and strong modeling skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial and analytical concepts, practices, and procedures in Retail Store environment is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to articulate financial concepts clearly both verbally and written form across all levels of organization including non-finance executives.
  • Demonstrated project management skills; adept at balancing multiple priorities tight deadlines fluid environment where change is the norm rather than exception.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Preferred experience with AX, Anaplan, Power BI, and ability to learn & adapt to in-house system applications.
  • Must be curious, accurate, and detail oriented.
  • Must bring a positive attitude with fresh eyes and an appetite for change management.
  • Must work well in a fast paced, team-oriented, and dynamic environment.
  • Work in SF office 3 days a week with 2 days working remotely.

Job Description

This role is for Corporate FP&A Value Added Services (VAS) and Commercial and Money movement Solutions (CMS) lead, which is responsible for a broad range of Financial planning and analytics including Multi-year outlooks, budgeting, and various reporting and analysis for Visa's executive leadership.

This Senior Manager role will be heavily involved in the preparation of internal and external reporting for VAS and CMS. The VAS and CMS lead will be partnering cross functionally and globally with the partner teams to define parameters of reporting and disclosures and executing on Corporate priorities while bringing the financial discipline to the process.

A critical requirement for success in this role will be to promote a One Visa mindset across multiple stakeholders, encouraging a spirit of collaboration and building strong relationships. Communication skills will be key as you convert financial outputs into key insight for the business and challenge along the way to drive tangible benefits.

What we expect of you, day to day

  • Supporting & influencing senior leaders in Finance across VAS and CMS finance in global and region teams. This role is responsible for delivering on the budget, forecast and multiyear strategic outlook Corporate perspective for VAS and CMS as well as coordination and consolidation of regional submissions.
  • Driving the core FP&A planning agenda, performing assessments on the financial & business performance for VAS and CMS, and acting as the lead for Corporate FP&A in cross coordination with GARP, FSS, Controllership and VAS and CMS Finance regional and global teams.
  • Corporate FP&A lead driving financial planning and collaboration of VAS and CMS reporting and analytics in close partnership with the Global VAS and CMS Finance team and regional partners, and solving complex issues as they arise.
  • Embed P&L thinking into decision-making and providing succinct messaging for the CFO, quantifying the financial impacts of risks and opportunities throughout reporting and planning cycles.
  • Coordinate inputs from various stakeholders on revenues reporting, driving the reviews as part of the monthly and quarterly cadence of Scorecards and BAU
  • Provide timely and accurate financial management reporting, proactively delivering insightful analysis of key trends and understanding of the key business and financial risks and opportunities (including recommendations for call to action where applicable).
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge and understanding of VAS and CMS business drivers and develop a comprehensive understanding of how they fit into the overall business strategy for Visa globally.
  • Strengthen collaboration and partnership with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring synergies and coordinated efforts with other groups.
  • Deliver on a variety of cross-functional or process enhancement projects where VAS and CMS FP&A is key stakeholder, including ideation, planning, leading and execution.
  • Competitive analysis on performance of VAS and CMS throughout earning cycles and establishing benchmark against the industry leaders across Visa portfolios by developing an in-depth knowledge of the industry landscape.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • Graduate, undergraduate degree and/or other Finance-related professionally recognized accreditations (e.g. CPA, CFA, CIMA, ACA, ACCA)
  • Ten years of progressive professional finance experience, preferably in global publicly listed, government regulated payments company

As a VP, FP&A at Redwood Trust, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the company can plan for growth, execute on, and track performance against the budget. + Evaluates complex business environment by conducting financial assessments (e.g., Situational, Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats, Opportunity-Based Strategic Planning, system value chain analysis); and interpreting reports summarizing business, financial, or economic data.
+ Leads internal audit process, reviews audit results, and may engage with auditors to resolve material weaknesses, implement changes to internal controls and proactively assess high risk areas.
+ Creates budgets and/or forecasts in accordance with business strategic initiatives by analyzing and interpreting budgeting trends; reviewing results of budget and forecasting; coordinating with others to develop department/regional budgets; and making recommendations.
+ Advises region/business unit leaders on strategic fiscal matters by reviewing regular and special reports for both financial and statistical matters in order to facilitate financial management throughout the organization; participating in regular meetings with leadership to review financial results for their areas; and acting as an internal consultant to Kaiser Management team on reading and interpreting financial results, analyzing variances, and improving performance.
+ Conducts financial modeling by developing best-practice and complex models; analyzing and optimizing risk alternatives; and developing, reviewing, and recommending what-if scenarios and forecasts using in-house models or software.
+ Assesses the business vision, objectives, and strategic initiatives by conducting and/or reviewing research provided by others to assess financial impact of strategies and initiatives.
+ Completes costing activities by identifying and suggesting cost avoidance and cost recovery opportunities.
+ Evaluates performance/operations/financial state by using and implementing templates (e.g., cash flow, RFA process, weekly unit case report) and computer applications; reviewing and conducting complex financial analyses (e.g., operating cash flow analyses, pro forma P&L, line item walk forwards, volume building blocks, NPV, IRR, Discounted Cash Flow, statistical analyses, economic analyses); and reviewing and completing complex variance analysis (e.g., volume, P&L line item, cost of goods, rate).
+ Reports region/business unit financial information by evaluating and communicating financial trends, findings in data analysis reports, and forecasts of income and expense; reviewing and communicating assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses; and using data/inputs from region/business unit systems to support analyses (e.g., membership and utilization reports, volume reporting, day sales inventory, analysis spreadsheets, investment schedules).
+ Supports field operations by analyzing and interpreting their operational/financial performance; and determining areas of improvement.
+ Conducts Financial Statement Analysis of business partners (e.g., suppliers, customers, co-packers, acquisition targets) by reviewing information reported from software systems (Internet, Bloomberg, and D&B), annual reports, and/or interviews; making recommendations regarding the financial status (viability) of business partners; and assessing risk implications.
+ Improves financial performance by analyzing financial trends; and in partnership with the business leaders, uses results of analysis and understanding of operations to identify actions that address operational performance issues.
+ Informs strategic financial planning by performing and evaluating complex financial, utilization, and benchmark analytics.
+ Assists with strategic financial planning by preparing recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, financial requirements, and operating forecasts; and developing and interpreting financial concepts for financial planning and control.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Minimum two (2) years finance experience managing a portfolio of departments, business lines, and/or functional/service areas.
+ Bachelors degree in finance, business, or related field and Minimum six (6) years Financial Planning & Analysis experience, or directly related business experience. Additional equivalent work experience in a directly related field may be substituted for the degree requirement.
