Job Description

The Senior Data/Business Analyst, Data and Analytics (Manager), is responsible for being a hands-on data and business analyst, working with and leading data analysts within the AbbVie Complete Access function. This role is tasked with enhancing the team's capabilities in data storytelling, business alignment, and insights delivery. Additionally, the role ensures that business operations are synchronized with data-driven processes and business objectives.

This position is based out of North Chicago, IL (Abbott Park) & requires the individual to work onsite 3 days per week/2 days remote (this is not a 100% remote role & relocation assistance is NOT available)

Responsibilities:

-Collaborates cross-functionally with business partners and internal teams to drive meaningful, data-driven business outcomes and insights.

-Drives the overall development and implementation of the organization using advanced data analytics techniques to set PM goals and optimize data-driven projects, ensuring accurate and insightful reporting of activities and outcomes.

-Leads projects centered around complex data models, ensuring comprehensive reporting of activities and outcomes using predictive analytics by translating complex data into clear, actionable business insights.

-Directs data-related investigations by employing analytical frameworks to validate data by designing and building dashboards, visualizations, and reports to support strategy and operations.

-Provides oversight for accuracy and quality assurance, leveraging data mining techniques to identify improvements and address emerging data trends.

-Oversees the management of reporting systems and performance metrics, utilizing sophisticated analytics tools to track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and extract actionable insights to drive operational improvements.

-Develops and supports other functional analytics-driven initiatives, programs, and systems that enhance operational efficiency and data utilization.

-Acts as a mentor and quality reviewer for Data Analysts, responsible for selecting and hiring, guiding them with performance expectations, and developing staff by coaching and elevating the team to enhance analytical skills that drive business goals

Qualifications

-Bachelor's required/Master's degree in business, physical or life science, pharmacy, nursing, engineering or related field if combined with relevant work experience

-8+ years' experience in data and analytics, service center or technical field in a regulated industry or relevant experience

-2+ years of managerial and/or project management experience in a data analytics, or similar organization highly desired

-Experience driving key process improvement initiatives based on data-driven insights and key performance indicators (KPIs)

-Strong communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across the organization

-Six Sigma / continuous improvement methodology, certification, or experience is preferred

-Regulatory, compliance, and/or information security experience is desired.

He/ She should be able to direct research and/or project activities by effectively mentoring, guiding and/or supervising scientific personnel. Should conceive, execute and communicate novel multi-disciplinary research or development strategies that achieve project and strategic goals. Serve as a lead scientist on projects and contribute scientific insights into multiple other projects and initiatives.
He/she must foster productive collaborations within the global Analytical R&D organization and with R&D cross-functional partners such as Pre-Clinical Safety (PCS), Process Chemistry, Process Engineering, Drug Product Development (DPD), and Quality Assurance (QA) and CMC-Regulatory?
Responsibilities:
+ Manager a small team (3 direct reports) to support the development of NCE candidates (RSM to API to DP) from pre-clinical through Phase II clinical trials and accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals.
+ Responsible for method development, testing procedures, and implementation of analytical control strategies to help the advancement of drug discovery candidates.
+ Apply analytical separation and detection modes for complex impurity profiling of pharmaceutical products to further the understanding of emerging cGMP manufacturing processes.
+ Generate new scientific proposals and lead those efforts. Anticipate and critically evaluate scientific or regulatory advances or competitive threats and respond with appropriate new strategies.
+ Utilize understanding of a range of analytical techniques to conduct research and development studies related to small-molecule drug products, active pharmaceutical ingredients, intermediates, starting materials, impurities and impurity profiling.
+ Routinely demonstrate scientific initiative and creativity in research or development activities and maintain a high level of productivity in the lab.
+ Embraces the ideas of others, nurtures innovation and manages innovation to reality.
+ Encourage ideas and drive for continuous improvement and champion initiatives within Analytical R&D and across R&D partner functions.
+ Raises the bar and is never satisfied with the status quo.
+ Understand and comply with AbbVie safety, quality and regulatory policies and government regulations.
Qualifications
+ Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry typically with a minimum of 14 (BS), 12 (MS), or 6 (Ph.D.) years related industry experience.
+ Direct people-management experience.
+ Strong technical background in analytical chemistry, excellent analytical problem-solving skills. Capable of independently developing and troubleshoot analytical methods.
+ Demonstrate creative 'out of the box' thinking to solve difficult problems.
+ Champion new technologies to achieve project goals.
+ Hands on experience with HPLC analysis and method development along with fundamental understanding and working knowledge of various analytical techniques including MS, GC, ICP-OES, IC, and NMR.
+ Self-motivated, hard-working, detail-oriented individual able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
+ Experience in the use of computerized data handling systems.
+ High-quality written and oral communication skills and ability to interact effectively with interdisciplinary scientists and engineers.
+ Learns fast, grasps the "essence" and can change course quickly where indicated.
