Catalent Pharma Solutions in Philadelphia is hiring a Accountant which is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of an organizations general ledger and financial records. This role involves managing account reconciliations, supporting invoice billing processes for Depot. Distribution, Storage, and other areas, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. A solid understanding of GAAP, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate with other departments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
**This is a full-time role position: Monday-Friday -8:30am-5:00pm. Hourly, Onsite**

**The Role**
+ Prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts. Manage and reconcile balance sheet general ledger accounts. Assist with Audit teams- external/internal and Tax returns.
+ Prepare financial statements and financial reports. Research technical accounting issues for compliance
+ Provide support for month-end and year-end closing processes by ensuring the accuracy of accounts
+ Analyze and report budget variances. Assist and generate billing of invoices, review and maintain work file process. Work with Contracts Administration to resolve contract inquiries
+ Send invoices to clients
+ Provide support for distribution, freight, credit memo, IOR
+ Collaborating with other departments to ensure financial data is accurate, complete, and in compliance with GAAP
+ All other duties as assigned;
**The Candidate**
+ Required a Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with strong Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles )
+ Ability to interpret financial data highly desired
+ Advanced proficiency with various ERP ( Enterprise Resource Planning ) systems, Sage or JDE preferred
+ Advanced Computer skills in Excel functions (e.g. Pivot Tables, Lookups, Formulas)
+ Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds.

Primary Role
Responsible for the compilation and analysis of accounting/financial information within the Fixed Assets (Plant Accounting) Department for the American Water subsidiaries as assigned, and the maintenance of complete and accurate subsidiary general ledgers.Assists in the consolidation process and provides reporting support and other services to the External Reporting, Financial Analysis and Decision Support, Budgeting and Internal Reporting, Tax and Rates Support/Regulatory Operations teams.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide accounting for all fixed asset related activity to include asset additions, retirements, depreciation, cost of removal, and salvage.
- Prepares journal entries and assists in analyzing financial results and variances, ensuring completeness and accuracy of the subsidiary general ledgers.
- Prepares account reconciliations, including the timely investigation and resolution of discrepancies and reconciling items.
- Provides reporting support, information and analysis to assist in consolidation and the External Reporting team's fulfillment of the Company's quarterly and annual SEC reporting requirements.
- Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual subsidiary financial statements and state commission reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, state-specific utility regulation, internal controls and Company policies and practices.
- Assists the Rates Support team in fulfilling rate case requests and analyses for filings and/or other reporting requirement reports.
- Interfaces/liaises with the Capital Administration, Financial Analysis and Decision Support, Budgeting and Internal Reporting, Cash/Treasury, Accounts Payable, Call Center Operations and Tax teams, providing information on accounting and reporting matters.
- Assists with special projects and initiatives to optimize the effectiveness of existing business applications, technologies and systems and to build efficiencies/improvements into current business processes.
- Prior public accounting, corporate and/or multi-subsidiary company experience a plus.
- Prior experience working in the utility industry and knowledge of regulatory accounting a plus.
- Knowledge and prior experience working with SAP, PowerPlan, Hyperion, Blackline, SharePoint a plus.
- Knowledge of fundamental accounting/analytical concepts and financial analysis.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); knowledge of advanced Microsoft Excel functionalities (i.e. pivot and look-up tables, etc.) a plus.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, systemic and problem solving skills, including the ability to work in teams or effectively work independently.

+ Oversee ledger reconciliation and manage accounts payable/receivable.
+ Participate in budgeting processes.
+ Brief senior managers regularly on the company's financial status.
+ Liaise with Tax Accountants to track tax payments and returns.
**Requirements:**
+ BS degree in Accounting or Finance.
+ CPA certification preferred.
+ Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
+ Experience with accounting software/ERP systems (SAP and NetSuite preferred)
+ Advanced MS Excel knowledge (experience with formulas, VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).

Job Description
W2 hourly based on experience and client requirements: $50 - $85 hr
**Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:**
+ Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
+ Organize and update financial records as needed.
+ Analyze transactions and prepare reports.
+ Perform regular, detailed audits to ensure accuracy in financial documents, expenditures, and investments.
+ Forecast revenue and analyze profit margins.
