About the role:
The Ceded Reinsurance Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day ceded reinsurance operations. The Ceded Reinsurance Accounting Manager will report to the AVP of Ceded Reinsurance and is an integral part of the Insurance Finance team. The role will be responsible for reviewing and supporting monthly/quarterly journal entries as well as preparing regulatory and external reporting for Vantage. The position requires a strong understanding of ceded reinsurance contracts and must have strong Microsoft skills. This role blends Finance, ceded accounting, and ceded operations to create core deliverables in support of the entire organization. This role involves supervising a senior accountant, analyzing financial data, and working collaboratively with other departments to support the company's financial goals.
The base salary expectation for this role is between $125,000 and $135,000. Actual base salary for the selected candidate may be higher commensurate with candidate experience and expectations. Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Prepare monthly and quarterly ceded reinsurance results and analyses for internal and external reporting.
- Collaborate with the Ceded Reinsurance Placement Team, Actuarial, FP&A, and Claims departments to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Preparation and review of detailed journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare quarterly and annual Schedule F exhibits for the Company’s NAIC as well any additional regulatory filings.
- Participate in audits and work with stakeholders to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Oversee treaty, FAC, and proportional calculations, entries, billing, receipts, and disbursements.
- Manage the calculation, booking, billing, and collection of all ceded payable and recoverable including profit and sliding scale commissions.
- Lead and support ad hoc reporting and special projects.
- Assist in the ongoing implementation of a new ceded system.
- Drive continuous improvement in the reinsurance accounting cycle to improve close cycles, controls, and understanding.
- Maintain a strong control environment and associated documentation.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Over 5 years of experience in ceded reinsurance.
- Knowledge of GAAP and STAT accounting standards.
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Power BI, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with NAIC Annual Statement Software and Gain Compliance is a plus.
- Familiarity with accounting software; experience with Oracle a plus.
- Familiarity with ceded reinsurance software; experience with DXC SICS is a plus.
- Strong organizational abilities and the capability to multitask and reprioritize as needed.

The External Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager will help lead the quarterly financial reporting close process in close partnership and collaboration with the Company's accounting team and other internal stakeholders. This role will also help implement strong, sustainable financial reporting processes and controls and assist with technical accounting research and documentation as needed. The External Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager is a full-time role and reports to the Director of Accounting Policy & External Financial reporting with significant visibility to leadership throughout the Company, including the SVP and Chief Accounting Officer, VP of Investor Relations, Segment CFOs and Controllers, Division Finance Directors, VP of Tax, VP of FP&A, Sr. Director of Treasury, and other leadership throughout the Company.
Key Responsibilities
- Help lead the drafting and preparation of the quarterly financial statements along with other members of the financial reporting team
- Closely liaison with segment and business unit teams to provide oversight and proactive support on technical accounting matters, including researching the appropriate accounting guidance and documenting (or reviewing) conclusions
- Review work of Sr. External Financial Reporting Analyst, including financial statement footnote disclosure tie-outs
- Oversee and review standardized segment-level financial statement and reserve analysis to identify and understand any unusual trends and ensure the appropriate application of US GAAP and the Company's accounting policies
- Provide proactive support for any new business acquisitions or divestitures, including performing opening balance sheet reviews and coordinating with 3rd party specialists on valuation procedures
- Help lead and document annual segment, reporting unit and goodwill assessments
- Coordinate quarterly "roundtable" meetings with Segment Finance teams and other functional teams in Finance (e.g., Treasury, Tax and Internal Audit) to communicate deliverable timelines, policy, personnel and systems updates, key cross-functional initiatives, etc.
- Support implementation of new accounting guidance, policies, etc.
- Establish and maintain effective design and operating effectiveness of disclosure controls and support internal control assessments
- Drive continuous improvement and reduce cycle time in the quarterly reporting process through the increased utilization of technology and tools, implementation of standard operating procedures and other efficiency measures
- Monitor evolving reporting and disclosure trends and developments as well as performing benchmarking analysis to ensure transparent and high-quality reporting
- Help lead the assessment and implementation of new FASB ASUs, as applicable
- Assist with drafting, implementing and maintaining financial reporting policies
- Assist with researching accounting literature and preparing technical accounting memos, as needed
- Coordinate with and support external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audit
- Support ad hoc requests from Director of Accounting Policy & External Financial Reporting, Assistant Corporate Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer, as needed
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- Masters degree in Accounting or MBA strongly preferred
- CPA is strongly preferred
- 7 - 10 years of progressive accounting experience
- Large public accounting and/or large US public company experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding and experience in practically applying US GAAP and SEC rules

The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for all statewide locations across the United States. - Ensure revenue is recorded in accordance with the contractual terms, review the monthly revenue transactions to ensure the P& L and Balance Sheet is correctly stated
- Manage the internal and external audit process and provide leadership and supervision to the revenue recognition team
- Ability to lead team in the mitigation of internal control weaknesses and ensures processes have internal controls designed and operating effectively.
- Experience with large data visualization tools and preparation of summary reports
- Manage and develop Staff and Senior team of Revenue Recognition Accountants and FSC team in performing contract reviews and creating vision for team members' career path
- Experience with document reader and automation tools (e.g., UIPath) a plus

- Experience with financial systems such as: Workday, Salesforce Engage, HFM, SAP, Essbase, or others.
- Experience with period close procedures including preparation, review and approval manual JE strongly desired.
- Actively assess opportunities within our business in relationship to technical accounting matters to influence positively business process and results.
- Perform month end review of revenue to ensure the P& L is correctly stated for each brokerage service line and region
- Ensure compliance with all revenue accounting policies and procedures, drive process and system developments with respect to changes in GAAP and develop improvements and efficiencies as required

- Experience and fluent in finance systems (Workday desirable but not essential)
- 5+ years' post qualified experience in accounting, finance, or accounts receivable
- Prior people management experience
- Knowledge of billing / cash application system or equivalent knowledge of similar type of platform
- Knowledge of the Real Estate Industry including a familiarity with leasing documents, commission agreements and broker contracts (preferred)
- Familiar with compliance to Revenue Regulations (ASC 606) and commission controls

Position Summary
The Accounting Manager manages most accounting activities, including P& L reviews, monthly close, integration and acquisition project work, and other management duties. This position leads significant business-facing matters including the reporting and driving of key performance metrics in finance and business case development. The Accounting Manager leads staff and seniors on the Finance Team. This position is a key contact with various other managers within the company's shared service center.
Position Responsibilities May Include, But Not Limited To
+ Lead change management process for staff and seniors on the Finance team
+ Function as the key developer of talent for the team
+ Manage the monthly close process including preparation of financial statements, etc.
+ Lead business initiatives and strategies i.e., system rollouts, integration of new acquisitions, and process improvements
+ Manage the governance over key systems in SAP i.e., fixed assets, treasury, leases, and other general ledger systems
+ Partner with the Controls department to ensure effective internal controls
+ Manage the external audit process
+ Support auxiliary audits i.e., Sales & Use Tax, Accounts Receivable Securitization, etc.
+ Other projects or duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Skills And Experience
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, 6 plus years of related Accounting experience
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills
+ Strong quantitative skills
+ Strong problem-solving skills
+ Ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines
+ Ability to delegate and prioritize workload assigned to the team
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office i.e., Word, PowerPoint, etc.
+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
+ Master's degree and/or CPA certification

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
+ Supports preparation and delivery of corporation's monthly financial statement close process. Primary owner of all accounting or regulatory reporting. Ensures financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely, and analyzes and reviews financial statements for given area of responsibility. Responsible for complete and accurate preparation of all required reports on a quarterly and annual basis. (20%)
+ Prepares, reviews or approves account reconciliations for corporation's entities and accounts, as required. (25%)
+ Prepares the monthly reporting packages for corporate entities including analysis of current actual results to prior period actual results for corporation- for use in Board and Senior Management reporting and external reporting. (10%)
+ Supports the implementation of changes in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). (5%)
+ Supports in the accounting, analysis and budgeting of various accounts. (15%)
+ Consults and liaises with operating unit finance personnel on accounting issues. (10%)

Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or general business administration.
+ MBA in Finance, Accounting or Economics and/or CPA or other financial certification is preferred
+ Experience is typically career level (7-10 years) in accounting, financial reporting or related field. Public Accounting and/or Utility experience is preferred.
+ Experience with Financial Statement Consolidations and/or Derivative Accounting is a plus.

As the Accounting Manager, you will play a leadership role within the Accounting Department and report directly to the Divisional Assistant Controller. This position requires technical and leadership skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment by reporting on, analyzing, and influencing the accounting processes and internal controls performed by the company's corporate functions (such as pricing, legal, and warranty). You will act as a thought leader on a range of technical accounting, internal control, and finance related issues. In addition to core accounting roles and responsibilities, you will be a leader in driving projects, as well as identifying new performance improvement opportunities.
Job Description:
+ Review monthly general journal entries, income and balance sheet statements, account reconciliations, and various other accounting statements and reports as appropriate to support an accurate and timely monthly financial close for the Division.
+ Maintain integrity of general ledger transactions.
+ Ensure that all financial statements are presented in accordance with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and appropriate financial variance analyses are provided timely to management. If in a Division outside North America ensure the financials are also presented appropriately in other forms required for Statutory reporting (i.e. IFRS, German GAAP, etc.)
+ Mentor and guide staff with questions and accounting issues.
+ Lead the team to accomplish personal and professional goals.
+ Develop strong working relationships with coworkers and other departments.
+ Navigate and extracting data from financial systems to investigate and resolve outstanding items as appropriate.
+ Write quarterly balance sheet fluctuation narratives to support the external financial reporting process and external audit.
+ Identify process inefficiencies and helping to support the identification of the underlying root causes.
+ Partner with other finance and non-finance groups to support design and implement process improvements.
+ Perform periodic testing for compliance with written policies and procedures as part of the overall SOX program.
+ Assist in the continued development and documentation of SOX-related policies, procedures, and internal controls.
+ Provide timely communication to the Divisional Controller or other management to support effective resolutions

Job Requirements:
+ Bachelor's degree; Accounting or Finance referred (must be from an accredited institution)
+ 7+ years of Accounting experience required; mix of public accounting and industry preferred
+ Big 4 or Tier II public accounting experience preferred
+ 4+ years of experience leading or managing a team of two or more
+ Strong knowledge of US GAAP
+ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) certification required
