Job Description
Stone Tower Winery is focused on crafting premium, world-class wines that exude a sense of place while working to support our community and Virginia's growth as a premium winegrowing region. We are 35 miles west of Washington, D.C., situated on 500 acres, of which 95 are planted to Vinifera varietals that include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rhone Whites, Bordeaux reds, and Nebbiolo. We operate out of two onsite, state-of-the-art facilities that are designed specifically for the styles of wine we craft.
We are seeking interns for the 2024 harvest to complement our tight-knit and highly-skilled team. Internships start in mid-August (exact dates TBD) and go through early November, depending on the season. Lunch is included during harvest.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Sanitation
Fruit processing (intake, sorting, destemming, press operation)
Fermentation monitoring
Pump overs, rackings, barrel work
Tank digouts
Tasting with winemaking team
Assist with grape maturity sampling
Other projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Previous harvest experience is preferred, but not necessary
Positive attitude, self-motivated, and desire to learn
Ability to perform physical labor and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Willingness to work long hours, up to 7 days per week
Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
Ability to operate a forklift
Capable of working independently with an acute attention to detail
Compensation: Interns will be paid an hourly rate commensurate with experience, and are eligible for overtime.
