General Summary and Purpose:
The Product Development Engineer II will lead the translation of market requirements into product concepts and design requirements. They will be responsible for designing a platform of single-use consumables to support cell and gene therapy manufacturing. In addition, the role will be responsible for verifying products meet requirements, developing production methods, and supporting activities required to bring products to market. The role will be assigned projects in both development and sustaining engineering and work with the cross-functional team to deliver the projects on time and within budget.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Product Development Engineer II will have responsibility for the design and development of all single-use
consumables, including but not limited to the items listed below:

  • Establish design input requirements to ensure products satisfy customer requirements.
  • Generate design concepts for single-use consumables and other similar products. Test product feasibility against requirements.
  • Create project schedules and budgets for new product development activities.
  • Develop product designs, prototypes, test plans, and manufacturing processes that will ensure a safe, effective, and marketable product.
  • Lead technical risk assessments and if necessary, establish mitigation plans to minimize product risks.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of small engineering team to complete technical projects according to established budgets and timelines.
  • Author technical documents (ex. test protocols, reports) demonstrating products are compliant with requirements. Approve documents authored by other team members.
  • Assure regulatory and quality requirements are followed and fulfilled.
  • Comply with department processes and procedures, including Design and Development Stage Gate process.

Job Requirements:
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles including plastics design, materials science, design for manufacturability, and systems integration.
  • Proficient in CAD systems for product design; SolidWorks preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, goal oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with Product Development Process, Risk Management, Root Cause Corrective Action, and Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience with materials, specifically plastics, is preferred.
  • Domestic travel up to 20%.
Job Specifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in product development with expanding responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical project management.
  • Familiarity with cell and gene therapy industry is preferred.

Job Responsibilities

• Job is an individual contributor and has no direct reports.

• Work directly with the customer, supplier partner, and/or internal cross functional teams to execute and identify new projects

• Completes food product formulation of a gold standard from bench top to commercialization using a continuously developing skill set in food formulation and processing equipment capability understanding.

• Participates in innovative customer presentations, cuttings, and product evaluations both internally and externally

• Developing and refining professional culinary skills for use in design and presentation.

• Able to analyze trend data and use trends hand in hand with the creative knowledge and design of food.

• Prepares bench top samples, evaluate ingredient and process performance of bench top samples against customer specifications and modify as needed.

• Completes the setup, performance, and evaluation of production tests on pilot plant equipment such as grinders, blenders, kettles, mixers, fillers, forming, coating, cooking, freezing, and packaging.

• Document processes, ingredients and results related to production tests, bench top samples and product evaluations. Provide information on product ingredients, yields, weights, in process and post process analytical data, throughputs, etc. for food formulations.

• Select and ship samples for customer evaluation.

• Responsible for assisting any internal or external luncheon requested activities.

• Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment in the Corporate Culinary Center.

• Prepare reports for management as needed.

• This role has the responsibility to understand and places in practice appropriate safety procedures. This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills

• 1-3 years of experience in related field is preferred.

• 2-3 years of experience of professional experience in a commercial kitchen with a food service operation

• Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.

• Culinary experience with commercialization, processing, and good science knowledge is preferred.

• Ability to creatively apply food formulation principles to large scale production requirements

• Ability to work accurately with different units of ingredient measurements; measure, add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Education

About the role

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will be responsible for providing consulting services to a high-profile client account to help achieve the company's strategic business objectives! This job is part of the Project Management function and involves a wide range of responsibilities, including program support, project controls, and product development.

Remote role with limited travel.

What you'll do

  • Support the development of products for hyperscale data centers.

  • Actively manage risks, collaborate with collaborators, and ensure timely communication and escalation.

  • Conduct regular check-ins, manage risk logs, attend risk workshops, and support Client TPMs as needed.

  • Assist Client TPMs with various tasks, including meeting minutes, note-taking, and action item follow-up.

  • Support engineering and design meetings across Client infrastructure portfolios.

  • Lead end-to-end (E2E) documentation to ensure on time delivery and readiness of information to enable deployment at a site level.

  • Support for change management, design documentation management, document upload and migration, issue tracking, risk management, presentation support, Product Life Cycle (PLC) checklist management.

  • Schedule, chair, and document technical meetings, including note-taking, action item tracking, and risk identification (as coordinated with the Client TPM).

  • Facilitate communication and teamwork within the team and across different functions, including attending design meetings and keeping stakeholders advised.

  • Ensure that all project-related information is accurately organized, archived, and accessible for future reference.

  • Lead all areas of project management for multiple real estate projects. This includes planning, design, construction, occupancy, and closeout.

  • Work directly with clients in order to prepare all elements of the projects. This includes the scope of work, project delivery resource requirements, cost estimates & budget, work plan schedule & milestones, quality control, and risk identification.

  • Define the project delivery resources from pre-qualified lists or through the project qualification process. Conduct complex requests for proposals, complete bid evaluations, and recommend resources to clients.

  • Facilitate the development of a charter and coordinated timeline.

  • Ensure all functions remain on schedule and issues get resolved or raised.

  • Facilitate regular meetings to review project status for active and pending projects.

  • Collaborate to develop solutions and guide the project team through implementation and completion.

  • Apply advanced knowledge to seek and develop new, better methods for accomplishing both individual and department objectives.

  • Showcase expertise in own job field and in-depth knowledge of other job teams within the organization function.

  • Mentor others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.

What you'll need

  • Experience with international data center projects is a plus.

  • Familiarity with critically important infrastructure.

  • A solid understanding of the commercial real estate industry in the areas of financial analysis, project management, construction, ethical practices, business operations, marketing, and business development.

  • The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.

  • Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.

  • In-depth knowledge of Google Suite products. Examples include Sheets, Docs, Slides).
