Job Description

The Financial Analyst will provide financial support to each area of the Finance Department. The role will require an understanding of accounting, the SAP P15 system and have the ability to analyze data and financial transactions. The role will be expected to help drive efficiencies in the financial organization by improving processes and supporting the Finance Leader as well as other departments within the organization.

** PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES **

• _ Pricing / Costing _
• Provide quotes on new and existing items for the Sales Team
• Enter customer selling prices, transfer prices, and standard costs into ERP system (SAP).
• Support the contract negotiation process through price & margin analysis
• Create price curves to aid in the quoting process
• _ General Accounting _
• Assist in the month end close process
• Account reconciliations, post journal entries, ensure proper completion of SOx documentation
• Work with the Finance Leader to complete the quarterly financial forecast
• Review and code invoices with the proper GL accounting
• Update key financial metrics for reporting performance to the organization
• _ Backup/Support for Credit Manager: _
• Customer collection activities
• A/R reporting and analysis
• Credit/Debit memo follow-up
• Billing process oversight

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree required
• At least 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong PC skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Outlook, Power Point, Excel, SAP, and SharePoint.
• Self-motivated and self-disciplined.
• Bi-lingual skills of English and Spanish a plus but not required.

Salary Range: The expected salary range for this position is between $75,000 - $85,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law

Location: Hybrid, mostly remote, Monday to Friday, 8-5. There may be some occasional in person training or meetings or to meet other business needs at 1855 Folsom St in San Francisco.

CANDIDATES MUST ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS AND HAVE THE ANSWERS IN THE BEGINNING OF THE RESUME:

1. 'This role involves managing multiple complex financial programs and collaborating with various departments. Describe a situation where you managed a cross-departmental project or financial program. How did you approach leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making, especially when handling competing priorities or addressing complex issues?

2. In this role, you'll be responsible for analyzing payment transactions and reconciling financial data. Walk us through a time when you analyzed a large set of financial data or reports to identify trends, discrepancies, or areas for improvement. What tools and methods did you use in Excel to ensure accuracy and provide actionable insights?

3. How do you use Pivot Tables to summarize large sets of financial data? Can you give an example of how you've used them to analyze transaction data, reconcile payments, or generate financial reports?

4.Can you explain how you would use the INDEX/MATCH function combination to pull financial data from different tables or worksheets? How would you apply this to reconcile payment transactions or perform audits?

5. How would you use Excel to perform a financial reconciliation, such as comparing bank statements or payment receipts to the general ledger? What tools or formulas would you use to ensure accuracy and policy compliance?

In this role, you will:

• Perform structured analysis; conduct data mining; identify, clarify, and investigate discrepancies and exceptions; proactively develop solutions and processes.
• Maintain, reconcile, review, combine, and validate financial data sets and accounts, utilizing financial reports, financial databases, and key financial information.

• Develop reports and presentations of complex financial data and metrics for management and third parties.
• Prepare and analyze accounts receivable aging reports and resolve billing or payment issues.
• Reconcile discrepancies between accounts and resolve billing issues.
• Maintain positive relationships with students and clients, answer finance related inquiries, and provide excellent financial service.
• Accurately record financial transactions and maintain organized records; receive, record, and apply payments from students and clients to their respective accounts; Generate and send out invoices to clients promptly and accurately.
• Maintain and review accounting process controls; recommend and implement any approved modifications; preliminary analysis and recommend solutions. Develop and maintain desktop procedures and process documentation for area of responsibility.

• Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

• Advanced proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
• User knowledge and demonstrated experience of financial systems; internet and computer literacy.
• Understanding and ability to apply basic accounting skills and concepts.
• Demonstrated communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal audiences and client groups.
• Basic project management skills and ability to contribute as part of a project team.

• Knowledge of Oracle or other business financial systems
