We are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our Main Office in Nashville. This is a full-time position. Compensation: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 (depending on experience). A background check, including a credit check, is required.
Day-to-Day Job Duties: Develop financial models through benchmarking and process analysis as well as analyze and report on current financial status. Coordinate and participate in the design, testing, implementation, and review of complex manual and automated financial and accounting processes. Keep records of financial transactions while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for the Credit Union by performing the following duties:
- Summarizes details in subsidiary ledgers or data files and completes updates to accounting software systems.
- Verifies, allocates, and posts details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts by journal entry from various source documents.
- Conduct thorough research of historical financial data to forecast quarterly and annual cost projections.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports.
- Analyze financial performance and develop forecast models.
- Assist in managing and coordinating the key financial measures (revenue, gross profit, expense, profit, and cash), and advise on cost-reducing techniques.
- Able to develop automated accounting/financial applications to improve productivity.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank accounts and high importance accounts as assigned. Assists with maintaining the chart of accounts in the core and accounting system, including GL translations, as directed by the Finance or Accounting Supervisor.
- Assists with month-end and year-end close processes, audits, and tax reporting. Prepare ad-hoc accounting reports and analyses as requested.
- Records fixed asset acquisitions, dispositions, and depreciation in the accounting system and reconcile the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger. Recommends to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets and prepares property tax returns.
- Displays a strong aptitude for and understanding of accounting concepts. Ability to take the lead on more complex accounting assignments and projects. Ability to propose recommendations for new processes and improvements to existing processes to management.
- Effectively communicates with internal personnel and third parties when matters require special coordination. Acts as primary lead in the department to address accounting related questions from other internal departments.
- Participate in budgeting (for departments and projects).
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and investment decisions.

- Assists in training new personnel and overseeing the cross-training of Accounting Department staff to maintain backup in all positions.

In this role you will
Underwrite income-producing assets using ARGUS and Excel.
Analyze historical operating statements, budgets, leases, and loan agreements, as well as current market conditions to determine financial underwriting assumptions.
Review, analyze, comprehend, abstract, and interpret various types of real estate documents (including leases, appraisals, property condition reports, environmental reports, etc).
Identify critical property level financial issues
Present and discuss financial models to brokers and clients.
Assist in developing content, writing presentation packages, and offering memoranda.
Coordinate with debt/equity team members to underwrite based on debt placement scenarios.
Gather and track critical financial data points for research and negotiation purposes.
Analyze mortgage documents and understand prepayments, yield maintenance, and defeasance.
Present results of analyses in a formal client setting to audiences with a wide range of financial acumen.
Discuss financial metrics and implications on the phone with clients and defend the projected numbers.
Participate in pitch presentations with prospect and client meetings and lead discussions on financial modeling.
Communicate with Capital Markets professionals, property managers, asset managers and principals to clarify inconsistencies found during the underwriting process and address other property specific issues.
Keep up with market trends and industry knowledge.
What you bring
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Commerce, or related area.
2-3 years' experience in a related role. Experience in commercial real estate preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and skill set with ARGUS required.
Experience with developing financial models, cash flows, IRR, DCF, Cash on Cash analysis, etc. for cash flowing assets and development opportunities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organization skills and initiative

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from a 4-year college or university required, or equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the functions of the position.
- Minimum five (1-3) years prior accounting experience required, preferably in a credit union or financial institution environment, with demonstrated progressive supervisory experience.
- Experience in or knowledge of financial institution products, services, and records preferred.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer for long periods of time.
- Ability to stand, twist, bend, squat, crawl, and climb.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Job Description
The Analyst supports transactions generated by the Capital Markets team with a focus on multifamily real estate asset dispositions. During this process, the role of the Analyst will be to prepare underwriting and offering materials, support the senior team members in various areas related to forging ongoing and new client relationships, conducting due diligence, completing in-depth research, creating written content and performing complex financial analysis and underwriting of significant transaction value.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform valuation financial analyses and market analyses
- Support senior leadership with valuation models, analytics, research, due diligence and marketing analytics.
- Manage/Create/Edit BOV proposals, offering memorandums (OM's), presentations and other marketing materials.
- Support overall execution of transactions with tasks related to analysis, research, due diligence and documentation
- Gather market information through research, interviews and property tours
- Attend and participate in client meetings
- Perform continuous market research of specific property sector fundamentals, local market trends and the changing universe of equity investors and lenders
- Maintain database of real estate transactions
- Identify and leverage various internal resources to produce the best outcomes
- Other job duties as needed based on transaction assignment and team structure
- Ability to problem-solve and exercise independent judgement while displaying a high degree of initiative and accuracy.
