Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial reports, forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis. The Financial Analyst supports the Finance team and organizational departments by providing financial analysis, technical support with accounting/financial application systems, and recommendations for process improvements. May provide guidance to Accounting Clerks on the completion of more complicated transactions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not listed in order of priority)Prepare financial reports and statements for assigned areas, including analysis of historical financial information and trends.
Ensure all accounting is in line with financial principles (GAAP, PSAB, legislation, etc.).
Conduct analysis of capital data for use in completing ARO activities.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis to actual results.
Collaborate with managers in creating narratives regarding reasons for variances and recommended forecast figures.
Confirm budgeted capital projects are in line with asset management plans.
3. Internal Review and Analysis:
Responsibilities vary day to day reflecting the dynamic nature of the position based on department needs/requests.
Perform analysis to support new programs, projects, business cases and council reports.
Support the review and analysis of internal operations, processes, and controls. Provide recommendations and assist in implementing changes as required.
Provide tracking and analysis for capital asset projects including related funding including development charges.
Prepare user fee and revenue analysis for assigned departments.
4. Reconciliations and Audits:
Perform complex account and financial statement reconciliations as needed, including resolution of outstanding items.
Conduct payroll variance analysis, across union groups and including 24/7 operations.
Prepare detailed audit working papers and provide explanations to auditors as requested.
Maintain internal/external debt and reserve schedules and continuities.
5. Process Documentation:
Produce detailed flowcharts for financial processes within administrative departments.
Support the review, documentation, and recommendation of changes in policies and procedures as needed.
6. Government and External Reporting:
Aid in the preparation and review of government reports and other external reporting for complex transactions.
7. Journal Entries:
Review and post journal entries prepared by other staff members, may also prepare and post journal entries as required.
8. Compliance and Confidentiality:
Maintain confidentiality while working on analysis and costing for new programs, request for proposals, and projects as well as Council reports.
Comply with provincial and organization occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
9. Additional Duties:
Participate in committees as required.
Perform other duties as assigned, including redeployment in emergency situations.

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis, the Financial Analyst works co-operatively with Senior management and Managers to effectively and efficiently manage the financial resources of the organization. The SFA within the QuidelOrtho Corp FP&A team will support the financial planning, reporting, and analysis process.
There are three primary responsibilities of the role. The first responsibility will be to execute the month-end close activities, performance reporting, variance analysis, financial controls and to develop actionable insights for leadership. The second responsibility will be to consolidate and analyze forecasts related to the annual operating plans, periodic financial forecasts, and long-term strategic plans. The SFA will partner with other members of the finance team to execute the planning process. The SFA will play a critical role in developing clear and insightful management presentations highlighting the expected outcome, risks, and opportunities. The third responsibility will be ownership of the various Corp F&A processes, including project support as the company transitions ERP systems.
This is position prefers San Diego, CA based - working a hybrid (2-3 days with flexibility) schedule but is open to hybrid in Raritan, NJ or Rochester, NY.
The Responsibilities
- Perform month end close processes, including recording general ledger entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and other financial close related responsibilities
- Accurately calculate and record financial statement adjustments for intercompany transactions, royalty income/expense and joint business
- Ensuring Profit in inventory (PII), Intercompany revenue / cost of goods sold and other IC transactions are eliminated and accurately reflected in company financial statements
- Prepare monthly cash conversion cycle metrics and provide insightful commentary
- Ensure audit and control requirements are met, including development / refinement of policies, narratives, memos, etc.
- Construct latest thinking forecasts by partnering with other finance leads
- Support the development and improvement of new and existing reports & processes
- Assist Corporate FP&A team in reviewing presentations for senior management including data validation, supporting schedules and additional insights communications

Required:

Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000.
