The Senior Antenna Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing new aircraft antenna products from concept to production. He/she will research new antenna designs and upgrade current designs to meet ever-expanding customer requirements. They will perform computer aided design and analysis utilizing state of the art software packages. He/she will help troubleshoot manufacturing problems and improve process yields as well as manufacturing efficiencies. They will assist in writing Technical Proposals to win contracts and bring in new projects. The role also includes performing additional tasks as assigned by management and ensuring compliance with all DG safety procedures under company policies and guidance from the Facility Engineer/Safety Director.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; MSEE or PhD in EE preferred

  • Minimum 7 years' experience with VHF/UHF/L/S/C and Band antennas. RF Antenna design engineering experience in the aerospace industry a plus.

  • HFSS software experience and Hardware Implementation experience required

  • Advanced problem solving skills to follow a project through from conception to design, to finished product.

  • Great people skills to be able to interact with effectively with customers, management, Quality Control Engineers, project team members, as well as workers on the shop floor.

  • Implementation of conformal techniques and SMART/ Reconfigurable Antenna knowledge a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

This engineering position will report to the manager of RF Solutions, primarily support the Tactical Solutions business unit of BAE Systems SMS, and will have Radio Frequency (RF) engineering as its area of specialization with design and test of RF antennas, systems, and components as the focus.
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers missions. **What You ll Do:**
+ Be responsible for the hands-on design and realization of individual antennas, phased array antennas, RF circuits, passive RF components, and RF systems.
+ Use computational electromagnetic analysis software to design and predict performance on various types of antennas and apertures (spiral, sinuous, Vivaldi, patch, slot, horn, etc.).
+ Design frequency-selective surfaces (FSSs) for use with various radiating apertures.
+ Implement various design techniques (materials, shaping, etc.) for RCS mitigation where necessary.
+ Collaborate with other engineers and technicians to realize RF designs.
+ Participate and guide the testing of RF hardware for required performance metrics: VSWR, insertion loss, gain, polarization, radar cross section (RCS), etc.
+ Antenna requirement evaluation, initial concept trade-off and development, in-house and customer presentations, travel, and technical proposal writing and cost/schedule estimating.
+ Investigate new technologies and applications for radiating apertures, antennas, and RF systems.
+ Mentor and guide more junior engineers and technicians in the design, build, and test phases of RF projects and programs.
+ Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems involving antenna/sensor-based applications such as electronic warfare, electronic attack, electronic support measures, communications, geolocation, direction finding, etc.
+ Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
+ Interface well with other people at all levels including customers, use initiative in applying solutions to assignments.
+ Provide technical input and support to proposals and new business opportunities.
+ Assist with the preparation and delivery of presentations.
+ Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

**Your Impact**
The antenna engineer will be responsible for the antennas that are part of our products from the definition phase to shipping. + To be confident and familiar with the processes, practices, and tools required to build and run accurate simulations models (XFDTD, HFSS, CST, etc.), measuring material properties, building prototypes, taking measurements in the anechoic chamber (MVG and ETS systems), and generating relevant reports and presentations.
+ Exploring new technologies and processes to be implemented in the next cycle of Cisco products that could also be conducive to patents and publications.
+ Availability to attend to evening video-calls throughout the week with our partners in Asia.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ MS in electrical engineering with emphasis in electromagnetism and antenna design with 5+ years of industry experience or Ph.D. in electrical engineering with emphasis in electromagnetism and antenna design with 2+ years of relevant experience
+ Deep understanding of electromagnetism and antenna design concepts, and experience with antenna designs for Wi-Fi/BT, Cellular, UWB, GNSS, and antenna arrays.
+ End-to-end product development experience on at least one product from design to shipment
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Basic level of RF (design and testing), programming (Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW) and basic understanding of EMC, ESD, Surge, and radio compliance testing
+ Exposure to working with Contract Manufacturing (CM) model and/or Joint-Development Model (JDM)

**Your Impact**
The antenna engineer will be responsible for the antennas that are part of our products from the definition phase to shipping. The process includes simulations, prototyping, measurements (in the field, in the lab, active and passive), writing antenna specifications and test plans, guiding and reviewing the work of our partners, reviewing compliance lab reports, providing technical materials to the marketing and sales teams, and leading the efforts to solve any antenna related problems that may surface.
+ Interaction with cross-functional teams, JDM partners, antenna vendors, compliance labs, and other organizations.
+ Mentoring junior antenna engineers for lab related activities such as the use of soldering stations, microscopes, network and spectrum analyzers, RF connectors, attenuators, PCB designs, and the tools required to build reliable prototypes.
+ To be confident and familiar with the processes, practices, and tools required to build and run accurate simulations models (XFDTD, HFSS, CST, etc.), measuring material properties, building prototypes, taking measurements in the anechoic chamber (MVG and ETS systems), and generating relevant reports and presentations.
+ Exploring new technologies and processes to be implemented in the next cycle of Cisco products that could also be conducive to patents and publications.
+ Availability to attend to evening video-calls throughout the week with our partners in Asia.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ MS in electrical engineering with emphasis in electromagnetism and antenna design with 5+ years of industry experience or Ph.D. in electrical engineering with emphasis in electromagnetism and antenna design with 2+ years of relevant experience
+ Deep understanding of electromagnetism and antenna design concepts, and experience with antenna designs for Wi-Fi/BT, Cellular, UWB, GNSS, and antenna arrays.
+ End-to-end product development experience on at least one product from design to shipment
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Basic level of RF (design and testing), programming (Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW) and basic understanding of EMC, ESD, Surge, and radio compliance testing
+ Exposure to working with Contract Manufacturing (CM) model and/or Joint-Development Model (JDM)
+ When required by our projects, the antenna engineer may be required to work on an extended schedule to complete urgent tasks and should also be available for occasional international travel to Asia **(up to 5%).**

The RF Antenna Team at Raytheon is seeking a talented Principal Engineer to join our team in Tucson, AZ.
The candidate will be responsible for leading and shaping antenna, radome, and antenna measurement system technology within the Company. The selected candidate will also be expected to lead teams, provide technical oversight, delegate tasks, and work with the Engineering organization to establish technology roadmaps, enable modernization, and contribute to general innovation. In addition, the candidate will work with government personnel and programs, and define and refine requirements to validate hardware compliance. The candidate will be responsible for providing guidance, coaching, mentoring, and training to other employees across the business within the candidate's areas of expertise.
This position is an onsite role, located in Tucson, AZ.
**What You Will Do**
+ Development of antenna or radome hardware and requirements
+ Work with interdisciplinary engineering teams including thermal, structural, mechanical, systems, etc.
+ Work with antenna manufacturing suppliers
+ Analyze simulation or test data to verify performance to requirements
**Qualifications You Must Have**
+ Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 6 years of experience to include any combination of the following:
+ Antenna element design and fabrication
+ Antenna simulation and modeling
+ Antenna measurements in near or far field systems
**Qualifications We Prefer**
+ Master of Science (MS) or PhD in electrical engineering
+ Strong experience managing and presenting technical data to stakeholders and customers in design reviews and technical interchange meetings
+ Strong experience designing and delivering conformal antenna designs
