Job Overview:
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer - Apparel to join our growing team. This role supports the buying team in managing vendor relationships, purchase orders, product data, and inventory to ensure the successful execution of our apparel assortment. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Vendor Communication & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with apparel vendors and suppliers.
- Communicate clearly with vendors on order status, product availability, delivery timelines, and issue resolution.
Purchase Order & Inventory Management
- Accurately enter and track purchase orders, ensuring all orders are processed efficiently and on time.
- Monitor and follow up on open orders to address discrepancies, delays, or adjustments.
- Assist in managing inventory levels, ensuring stock aligns with sales forecasts and customer demand.
Product Data & SKU Maintenance
- Support the Buyer in managing a broad assortment of SKUs, ensuring product information is accurate and up-to-date.

Email & Communication Management
- Handle a high volume of email communications with vendors and internal teams.
- Respond promptly to inquiries and manage information flow to support efficient collaboration.
Sales & Trend Analysis
- Assist in analyzing sales performance, trend data, and vendor metrics to support product selection and buying decisions.
- Provide insights and recommendations to optimize the apparel assortment based on performance data.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with allocation, planning, and logistics teams to ensure timely product delivery and smooth inventory flow.

Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, Marketing, or related field (preferred).

- Purchase order management: Ability to enter buys into the system with an understanding of how the product and

- Manage Style Outs: Responsible for sample management for respective brands and coordinating pass offs to marketing, ecom, and visual merchandising teams. Work efficiently creating visual presentations of product information and color, that can be used by VM, Marketing and Ecommerce teams.
- Merchandise Analysis: Analyze weekly and monthly sales, stock, and on-order with the goal of optimizing sales and minimizing markdowns. Identify Key Trending in the marketplace and reacts quickly, both major and minor, in the business, whether they be product related, or store related. Driving sales and margins through vendor communication, internal design and product development,
- Merchandise Planning: Works closely with the Buyer and Planner revising plans to ensure that sales and margin are optimized by class. Ensure the buying direction is on target based on partnering with Buyer and comprehensive analysis of the business, e.g., last year results, current trends, attribute selling, etc.
- OTB (Open-To-Buy) Management: Manage the financial elements of the business, e.g., OTB, IMU, MD's, etc. Ensure that the receipt plan is tightly managed and that orders are placed on a timely basis (neither too late or too soon) and that receipts flow correctly throughout the month.
- E-Commerce: Assist in selecting new product for e-commerce division from retail's assortment. Suggest category extensions / web exclusives to further growth. Provide vendor/style investments by quarter in order to promote product through our web platforms
- Vendor Relations: Develop effective and beneficial relationships with key vendors. Sit in on vendors' appointments and participate in product development and purchasing in the market. Prepare for meetings and projects with Business Analysts. Manage vendor performance through effective negotiation and communication to maximize profitability, achieve financial objectives and ensure optimal supply chain operations.
- Communication: Ensure that all communication (listening and directing) is conducted appropriately with the stores, vendors, ecommerce and warehouse. Develop collaborative relationships with internal colleagues including Planning, Visual Merchandising, Ecommerce, Buyers, Marketing and Community, and the Operational team. Gain understanding of all roles and responsibilities within the organization and be flexible and cooperative in working with teams to achieve a common goal.

Job Description: As a Buyer, Merchandise for our merchandise team, you will play a vital role in driving our product assortment strategy and ensuring a compelling product offering across multiple sales channels, both online and in-store. This role will either report to the Manager, Merchandise or the Sr Manager, Merchandise. Key Responsibilities Assortment Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute a cohesive assortment strategy that aligns with company goals and customer preferences. Analyze market trends, consumer insights, and sales data to identify growth opportunities and inform product selection. Vendor Management And Negotiation Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers. Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and promotional support to achieve optimal buying conditions. Monitor vendor performance and ensure compliance with agreements. Product Selection And Procurement Curate a balanced assortment of products that cater to different customer segments and sales channels. Collaborate with suppliers to source new products and maintain existing product lines. Develop and execute purchase plans that align with demand forecasts and inventory targets. Inventory Management Collaborate with inventory management teams to optimize stock levels and prevent stockouts or overstock situations. Monitor product performance and take timely action to adjust inventory levels as needed. Market Research And Analysis Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences. Analyze sales data and market insights to make informed recommendations for product assortment adjustments. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with marketing, e-commerce, and operations teams to ensure alignment of merchandise strategies with overall business objectives. Communicate assortment plans, promotions, and product launches effectively. Sales Forecasting Collaborate with demand planning teams to provide accurate sales forecasts and contribute to inventory planning efforts. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Supply Chain, or a related field. Proven experience in merchandising (or other applicable roles), with a strong understanding of merchandise procurement. Excellent negotiation skills and vendor relationship management. Proficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret market trends and consumer behavior.
