**The Role:** The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical sales support to both external sources (consulting engineers, contractors and end users) and internal sources (regional managers, project management/ engineering, manufacturing and after-sales service) to obtain sales orders to meet set sales goals.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Provide technical support for preparation of bids and proposals.
+ Design aeration and biological systems for wastewater treatment applications.
+ Provide technical specifications for use in municipal bid documents.
+ Work with project management/ engineering and operations to develop and maintain cost to complete equipment.
+ Develop pricing estimates for both direct purchases and competitive bid applications.
+ Interact with third party sales representatives, regional managers, consultants, contractors, and end users on a daily basis through verbal and written communication.
+ Administer equipment procurement bids including: submission of applicable bond request, preparation of bid forms, pricing and providing of all requested information.
+ Oversee project hand-overs to project management/ engineering group.
+ Respond proactively to all sales calls.
+ Utilize proprietary software platforms (AXP, Treatment Select, Xylect, Mids, etc.) to address technical questions. Utilize third party software (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and PowerPoint) as needed to enhance customer support.
+ Maintain sales files and customer information database in Salesforce.com
+ Maintain product knowledge through training and seminars.
+ Follow and comply with all ESH&S policies.
+ Support cross-Treatment training and development opportunities
+ Provide and/or receive mentorship for other Treatment and Xylem team members
+ Participate in local water-treatment efforts / organizations
+ Other duties may be assigned as needed including special projects to help improve processes or tools for the sales group or key account management
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or related B.S. degree in engineering/environmental studies)
+ 3+ years of experience working in the field of water and/or wastewater treatment industry or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
+ Specific hands-on field experience with controls, electrical panels, and/or mechanical equipment is a plus
+ Demonstrate proficient problem solving techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications in the development of project tenders, designs, cost estimates, and proposals.
+ Superior customer service, interpersonal, effective communicator and influential is required. Ability to facilitate a presentation and technical aptitude of the product/process.
+ Possess ability to complete tasks and resolve difficult technical issues with minimum oversight.
+ Ability to prioritize, focus, and complete most critical tasks while handling multiple assignments with shifting priorities.
+ Ability to network effectively within organization to get things done
+ Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and CRM software
+ Be a self-starter with high motivation to achieve corporate and personal goals.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Flexibility to travel as required (25%)
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Green Belt Certification

**THE ROLE** : The Applications Engineer will be responsible for providing cordial, timely, and accurate Vertical Turbine Pump product and order support. This role will collaborate with other technical and engineering groups, production, and sales to understand the needs and desires of the customers and provide them with service levels that meet or exceed customer expectations.

+ Collaborate with other technical and engineering groups to provide the required customer solution.

**QUALIFICATIONS** **:**
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
+ One to Five years+ related experience with rotating equipment preferred. Candidates who possess <2 years of relevant experience will be considered Associate Application Engineers
+ Knowledge of pump hydraulics, mechanics and construction
+ Excellent interpersonal relationship building skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Experience with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Configure Price Quote (CPQ), and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools
**PLUSES** **:**
+ Salesforce and Pump selection software experience is a plus.
+ Ability to work with ambiguity, manage multiple projects at once, and review technical documents and drawings.
+ Ability to be self-managing and self-leading.

The estimated salary range for this position is $75k - $85k plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range. + Extensive knowledge and experience running and testing paper packaging coatings.
+ Works closely with Business Development to meet the technical needs within our paper coatings platform.
+ Manage and steer innovation development programs in partnership with the business development team and field associates
+ Scale up new paper coating products, technology, and tools to the field/market.
+ Connect with external stakeholders (suppliers, customers, research institutes) to support development initiatives.
+ Prepares laboratory reports which present findings and conclusions and prepares direct customer correspondence.
+ Understands lab procedures presented in technical journals, can adapt, and modify procedures to meet project requirements and effectively communicate technical information back to Business Development.
+ Interprets laboratory results and recommends next experimental steps or products.
+ Sets up and operates standard lab equipment of moderate complexity.
+ Establishes and leverages external networks and partnerships.
**What makes you a good fit**
+ BS Chemistry or ChE or other equivalent degree with paper coatings industry experience.
+ 1-5 plus years of technical service, product development, or paper coatings industry experience.
+ Ability to multi-task with strong laboratory, analytical and mechanical skills.
+ Travel in North America, approximately 30%.
+ Excellent project management and organization skills.
+ Effective written and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience in troubleshooting complex / difficult problems.
+ Computer experience with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and preferably SAP and GPM.

The salary for this role is $85,000- $120,000. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.

**Job Description**
**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Available to quickly respond and resolve critical service outages severely impacting consumers
+ Establish performance baseline, capacity thresholds, correlate events, and define monitoring/alerting criteria
+ Develop automated solutions to address potential problems before they result in a service interruption
+ Provide impact assessment and mitigation plan for changes going into the production environment
+ Investigate root cause of severe and systemic outages, identify corrective actions and apply across the enterprise
+ Develop availability measures that align with consumer experience to accurately assess the usability of crucial services
+ Build capacity models to baseline transactional load compared to resource performance and leverage data to predict overall system capacity while automating load placement to avoid outages
+ Identify thresholds for all critical links in the data path to quickly isolate where imbalances may result in potential outages
+ Analyze failure points in services to model risk level and resolution steps if failure occurs. Assist in driving architecture enhancements into system to mitigate potential failure points
+ Programmatically monitor for and remediate configuration drift of critical devices
+ Develop response plans to potential failure points and evaluate effectiveness during planned tests
+ Perform comprehensive operational health checks of the entire services to identify areas of concern and track activities to drive improvements at all levels of the architecture

**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 4 years of professional experience OR Associates degree with minimum of 7 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 9 years of professional experience
+ Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Supply Planning, Supply Chain and overall Planning Modules
