FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist customers in the proper selection of company products as they relate to systems as well as to discrete components.
  • Assist customers in the application, installation, start up, calibration, troubleshooting, and problem solving of company products and related systems.
  • Travel, as required, to determine product potentials and customer needs and assist in the sale of products and systems.
  • Maintain proper communication with all sales territories to ensure systems application assistance is provided as may be required in sales plans.
  • Present company products, systems, and problem solutions to customers at conferences as scheduled by sales personnel.
  • Assist in promotion activities including product literature reviews and industry functions such as trade shows, technical conferences, and schools.
  • Actively participate in interfacing and communicating with marketing personnel and project teams to provide market feedback for successful product specifications and development.
  • Survey and define market needs.
  • Assist in market research and competitive information collection, as required.
  • Present technical papers at industry conferences, as required.
  • Assist in creating sales tools including application notes.
  • Lead other application specialists in daily activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BSEE or equivalent experience.
  • Willingness to travel at least 50% of time in assigned sales territories.
  • Minimum five years’ experience as Application Specialist - Systems, or ten years equivalent experience and working knowledge of generating power systems and analog and digital circuitry.
  • Experience with excitation systems or rotating equipment.
  • Experience with 3 phase power systems in the Utilities and Industrial Market
  • Experience with static frequency converters as well
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to move or lift up to 50+ lbs.
  • Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
  • Ability to utilize hand/eye coordination.
  • Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time

The Role: The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical sales support to both external sources (consulting engineers, contractors and end users) and internal sources (regional managers, project management/ engineering, manufacturing and after-sales service) to obtain sales orders to meet set sales goals.

Develop pricing estimates for both direct purchases and competitive bid applications.
Interact with third party sales representatives, regional managers, consultants, contractors, and end users on a daily basis through verbal and written communication.
Administer equipment procurement bids including: submission of applicable bond request, preparation of bid forms, pricing and providing of all requested information.
Oversee project hand-overs to project management/ engineering group.
Respond proactively to all sales calls.
Utilize proprietary software platforms (AXP, Treatment Select, Xylect, Mids, etc.) to address technical questions. Utilize third party software (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and PowerPoint) as needed to enhance customer support.
Maintain sales files and customer information database in Salesforce.com
Maintain product knowledge through training and seminars.
Provide other duties as assigned.
Other duties as may be assigned as needed including special projects to help improve processes or tools for the sales group or key account management
Follow and comply with all ESH&S policies.
Support cross-Treatment training and development opportunities
Provide and/or receive mentorship for other Treatment and Xylem team members
Participate in local water-treatment efforts / organizations
Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or related B.S. degree in engineering/environmental studies)
0-3+ years of experience working in the field of water and/or wastewater treatment industry or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
Specific hands-on field experience with controls, electrical panels, and/or mechanical equipment is a plus
Demonstrate proficient problem solving techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications in the development of project tenders, designs, cost estimates, and proposals.
Superior customer service, interpersonal, effective communicator and influential is required. Ability to facilitate a presentation and technical aptitude of the product/process.
Possess ability to complete tasks and resolve difficult technical issues with minimum oversight.
Ability to prioritize, focus, and complete most critical tasks while handling multiple assignments with shifting priorities.
Ability to network effectively within organization to get things done
Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and CRM software
Be a self-starter with high motivation to achieve corporate and personal goals.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

**Responsibilities:**
The **Senior Electrical HVDC Application Engineer** is responsible for leading all aspects of HV/EHV substation design and execution, ensuring technical excellence, quality, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
+ Define and manage the HVDC engineering quality plan with the Project Engineering Manager (PEM); ensure adherence to the Engineering Management Handbook (EMH).
+ Serve as the technical lead during the Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) phase, coordinating with the HVDC Product Delivery Group (PDG) in Stafford, UK, and North America teams to develop technically and economically sound solutions.
+ Lead technical scope development, including system configuration, performance estimation, and cost analysis; interface closely with commercial teams.
+ Ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of project deliverables under the PDG scope; lead design reviews and change control processes.
+ Provide technical leadership for the design, integration, and execution of AC/DC substation projects, including equipment layout, grounding, cable routing, and control buildings.
+ Coordinate efforts across engineering disciplines, sourcing, and project management to meet cost, schedule, and specification requirements.
+ Lead and guide engineering teams by setting clear expectations and reviewing deliverables; identify and engage key stakeholders to align on execution strategy.
+ Oversee development of bid packages, technical specifications, scope of work documents, and vendor evaluations for high-voltage equipment and subcontracted services.

**Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college (BSEE strongly preferred)
+ Ten (10) years minimum experience in HVDC system, FACTS, industrial, renewable, or utility HV & EHV substation design and commissioning.
+ Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time, including international, and must comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies.

As the Regional Application Engineer, you will be responsible for providing application engineering support and managing customer communications related to Sales Orders.   • Quote Administration - Provides timely and accurate quotations and bid proposals to customers. Works with Sales and Engineering teams to identify the appropriate equipment selections. Manage quotation pipeline and maintain follow-up communications with customers to drive sales.
  • Specification Review – Provides accurate detailed review of Engineering Specifications related to Aerzen scope of supply, including recommendations and comments to best position Aerzen in sales opportunity.
  • Vendor Equipment Inquiries – Utilize customer specifications and datasheets to source pricing and scope proposals from third party vendors. Work directly with vendors to ensure compliance with specifications and project budget requirements.
  • Order Entry – Confirms the accuracy of customer data, order information, and alignment to quotation. Enters orders into ERP system and/or works with internal partners to ensure accuracy for entry of complex orders.
  • Order Confirmation – Engages directly with customers to confirm receipt of orders and communicate estimated lead time of Aerzen deliverables.
  • Submittal Tracking – Communicates with customers regarding project submittals and drawings for Aerzen standard equipment after order confirmation. For complex, non-standard projects, works with Aerzen Project Management in submittal preparation and communication.
  • Order Administration – Responsible for tracking milestone dates related to sales orders. Manages communication between internal and external customers to ensure clear and accurate details. Tracks on-time delivery to ensure customer satisfaction and minimize disruption to our production schedules. Engages with Aerzen Project Manager, as necessary, to ensure project remains on track with Customer timeline and expectations.
  • Communication – Acts as a filter for all communications between customers and production teams. Timely, detailed, and clear communication is required for success. This includes face-to-face, video conferences, phone calls, and e-mails.
  • Invoicing – Ensures all milestone invoices are sent to customers. Works with A/R team to encourage timely payment of open invoices.
  • Startup Coordination - Works with customers to confirm all parties are prepared for startup requirements of new packages. Responsible to follow project through customer sign-off of project. Ensures a clean handoff to the Aftersales team.
  • Quality and Warranty – Responsible for addressing customer related complaints prior to project sign-off. Works with customers to confirm accuracy and details of complaint, as required, and engages with the Project Manager, Aftersales, and Quality to ensure a solution is developed and NCP are generated.
  • Customer Visits – Will travel with Regional Sales Managers to customer locations to develop relationships, discuss projects, and support outside sales efforts.
  • Learning – Desire to learn and grow in the role. This position is meant to provide future opportunities within the organization; including, but not limited to: Regional Sales Manager, Project Manager, Service Coordinator.
  • Lead Generation - Generates sales leads/opportunities while interacting with customers and work closely with the Regional Sales Managers to effectively identify and pursue opportunities.

Requirements:

The pay range for this position is $90,000 - $101,000 per year and is eligible for an annual bonus. In this role, you’ll serve as the technical bridge between internal stakeholders and external customers supporting production systems, driving software deployments, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring high availability of critical applications. You will play an essential part across the full software lifecycle from requirements and configuration through deployment and post-release support. Primarily Responsibilities: Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, network, and OS-related application issues (2nd and 3rd level support). Partner with developers, system administrators, and IT teams to resolve complex problems. Leverage CI/CD pipelines and automation tools to streamline releases and implement rollback procedures. Maintain and communicate release notes and documentation for internal and client use. Summary
The Senior Package Applications Engineer provides technical expertise and support on the entire SIG product offering for existing and potential customers across all industries: beverage, industrial & chemical, aseptic, food service, wine, spirits and processed fruit.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead bag n box and spouted pouch assignments as the primary technical contact to core customers.
  • Technical expert in flexible materials, flexible film manufacturing, film lamination and film converting processes.
  • Provide core customers and new strategic opportunities with proactive technical solutions related to packaging materials, filling, and packaging line equipment to support SIG's Total System Sell model.
  • Knowledge expert with VFFS, HFFS, flow wrapping, pre-formed bags, and other types of automated packing equipment.
  • Commercialize new products through execution of validation protocol.
  • Provide written technical reports and value-added customer documents.
  • Assist with on-site training for customers.


You bring these skills, experience & education
  • 10+ years' experience with flexible film and converting process as a packaging engineer or engineering role.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required from a four-year academic institution. Major in Package Engineering, Packaging Development, Mechanical, Chemical, or Material Science is preferred.
  • Familiarity with any of the following is preferred: flexible packaging, aseptic processing and filling, horizontal and vertical form fill seal equipment, injection molding, plastics extrusion or barrier films.
  • Experience interacting with customers preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 35% domestically. May include travel to Canada and Mexico.
