About this Role
The Application Engineer is to develop dispensing solutions for our customers from our existing product portfolio of Fragrance, Lotion and Foam products. the technical lead within Thomaston for standard catalogue products and products with minor change for product or process projects and communicates all technical data including drawings, BOM's, and interpretation of test data. Here's a list of duties that the Application Engineer performs on a typical day:
- Provide technical support to the Commercial Sales Team, and Customers by selecting the most appropriate product configuration for the customer's specific application need (specification). Select and develop concepts and designs for existing dispensing systems which may include the refinement/improvement of existing products. Once the new product is identified, manage the implementation from the draft stages to manufacturing release. Some projects may require some capital appropriation.
- Manage (plan, track, communicate, document, and expedite) the implementation of new product configurations from the proposal stage, through award and subsequently through manufacturing and customer usage. New product configurations are based on catalogue, released product configurations.
- Plan and coordinate the qualification and validation of new designs and packages by understanding the product application/requirements, following the established testing requirements, reviewing the test results, and preparing technical documentation supporting the release of designs and packages or providing direction for further improvement/development to the customer.
- Occasional domestic day travel is required as needed (up to 20% of time)
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline or equivalent technical experience is required.
- Experience with plastic properties, mechanical design, and SolidWorks drafting; and the application of these skills, is essential.
- Minimum of 3 years of applied engineering and/or project management in component configuration design.
- Must be capable of using CAD and business software for analysis, communication, and project management. Must have demonstrable skill in AutoCAD 2-D software.
- Must have experience with SolidWorks 3-D design software.
- Experience with high-speed assembly and hydraulic systems technologies are a plus.
- Working knowledge of project management tools and techniques, statistical methods, testing techniques in order to qualify products and solve problems preferred.
- Must demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Must have good technical writing and professional communication skills.
- Must be proactive in obtaining information, completing tasks, and maintaining project deadlines.
- Must be a self-starter capable of autonomous goal-oriented project completion.

The Sales Technical Support / Controls Engineer will support Roofing Systems and Integration Sales along with engineering and commissioning of smaller integration projects.
Sales Support Responsibilities:
- Attend Request for Quote Walk throughs:
Gather information needed for sales to produce a quality proposal.
- Site investigations for Proposals:
Investigate systems with more detail than the Request for Quote Walk though.
Collect data:
Drive Horsepower's
Motor horsepower's
Enclosure sizes and posable locations
Conduit runs
Operator stations and functions
Field devices and locations
- Procure Installation proposals from Electrical Contractors:
Create Electrical Contractor Task lists that Electrical Contractors can reference in their proposals
Walk Electrical Contractors though job sight
Review and evaluate Electrical Contractor proposals
Control Engineering Responsibilities:
- Engineer smaller projects (Projects with less than 200hours of engineering)
Electrical Schematics
Bill of Materials
Programming
Panel Test
- Commission and Start-Up of engineered systems:
Smaller projects should take less than a week
Qualifications/Requirements:
- BSEE, BSME, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrate a commitment to follow-through
- Highly effective customer relationship skills
- Field experience in industrial manufacturing plants
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Organizational and analytical skills
- Display professional and technical confidence in a sales position
- Travel estimated at 25-30%, most trips to be less than one week
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to program PLCs; Rockwell Automation and others
- Abilit to program HMIs:
Panelview ME and SE

- Conduct site investigations for proposals, collecting data such as drive horsepower, motor horsepower, enclosure sizes and locations, conduit runs, operator stations and functions, field devices, and their locations.
- Procure installation proposals from electrical contractors, create task lists, review, and evaluate proposals, and walk them through the job site.
- Engineer smaller projects (less than 200 hours of engineering), including creating electrical schematics, bill of materials, programming, and panel testing.
- Commission and start-up engineered systems; smaller projects should take less than a week.
- BSEE, BSME, or equivalent experience.
- Strong follow-through, customer relationship skills, and effective communication.
- Field experience in industrial manufacturing plants.

- Willingness to travel 25-30%, mostly short trips.

Job Description
- Technical Support: This will involve extensive phone interaction with customers to diagnose field problems and provide instructions to correct them. Availability and rapid response will be required. Good listening and oral communication skills must be used to efficiently extract relevant information from the caller, which will lead to proper diagnoses and accurate instructions to address the situation.
- Manage RMA Process: Orchestrate the entire RMA process from initiation to closure. This includes providing authorization to return products, evaluation and failure analyses of returns, determination of warranty or non-warranty, pricing, and receipt of PO from the customer, and managing process through the closure of RMA record. Also, periodic reports should be provided to management documenting all RMA activity. Additional requirements will include providing trend analysis reports to management to identify warranty costs, product quality issues, training needs, and potential design problems.
- Customer Training: Under the direction of the Training Coordinator, provide product training to customers for ACCUTROL products and services.
- Manage Database: Manage database in conjunction with regional operations people by maintaining and updating information as often as necessary. This will involve entering field-generated reports and sending updates to regional operations people. Also to track updates made by the engineering department.
- Field Service and Operations Support: When required, travel to customer sites to support system or product startup activities, system troubleshooting, or other related activities.
- Manufacturing and Engineering Support: Provide support to the manufacturing and engineering departments as required by supervisor.
- A 2-year technical degree is desired, and 3+ years of related experience will be considered.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Knowledge of the HVAC building automation industry is a plus.
Interpersonal Skills
Excellent verbal and written and communication skills are essential for this position. Must be able to work well under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor, even when dealing with difficult customers. Must also possess good management and data collection skills with a high sense of urgency in dealing with resolving customer problems.
