Job Summary: The Behavioral Health Emergency Services Clinician (BHESC) is a member of the Milwaukee Mobile Crisis team that provides crisis intervention services to Milwaukee County residents experiencing a crisis. BHESCs are part of a multidisciplinary team that provides crisis assessment, stabilization, linkage, and follow-up services over the phone, in person, face to face, or in the community seven days per week.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric and psychosocial assessment of youth and adults with significant mental health and co-occurring needs. Regularly evaluate dangerousness to self and others in children and adults (suicidal and homicidal ideation).
- Intervene in and manage the acute crisis phase of mental illness in the community. De-escalate, stabilize, and resolve mental health crisis events. This may include remaining with the individual in their community setting until stabilized and linked with other services.
- Effectively reduce any danger to self or others by either therapeutic interventions, arranging for immediate services, and connecting to services and/or supports in the community until the danger is eliminated and the person is engaged in therapeutic services.
- Implement the plan of care by utilizing psychotherapeutic interventions, related to crisis assessment as well as the development of a crisis plan. Provide follow up to ensure plan of care is implemented and successful.
- Consults and collaborates with the Community Access to Recover Services (CARS), Wraparound Milwaukee, community hospitals, law enforcement, Behavioral Health Crisis Services, and other mental health professionals. Provide community education regarding crisis management and mental health resource navigation.
- Assist with providing transportation when appropriate, provide support to other internal Behavioral Health Services Crisis Programs and provider networks, Department of Health and Human Services service areas, and telephone triage. Participate in community engagement and outreach.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Resident of Wisconsin at the time of application.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver's License, able to be maintained through employment.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, or a related Human Services field.
- At least three (3) years of related work experience.
- Able to lift/carry and push/pull up to 25 lbs.
- Willing and able to travel 50% of work time within the community.
- Willing and able to work irregular, unpredictable, or particularly long hours due to frequent overtime, weekend work, or shift rotation.

**Responsibilities**
Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
+ Aid with movement and placement of patients.
+ Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
+ Report findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Document necessary records.
+ Keep patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintain medical equipment.
**Requirements**
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
+ Nurse Aide credentialed from the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Certified Nursing Assistant credentialed from the state of Wisconsin, and in Nurse Aide Registry with eligibility to work in a hospital setting obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Additional certs may be required by specific job locations.
Education:
+ High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
+ Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
