The Opportunity:

The Quality Assurance Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing automated tests to ensure the quality and functionality of software applications. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and manual testers, to create robust testing frameworks, identify defects, and drive continuous improvement in the testing process.

Excellent communication, professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills combined with a deep understanding of automated testing and proven ability to learn and adapt are necessary for success in the role of the Quality Assurance Automation Engineer. Applicants should also have proven technical leadership, testing, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

This position works closely with QA Analyst peers, development, product and customer success teams and reports to the Software Quality Automation Team Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all software releases meet the required quality standards with minimal defects by rigorously testing the software through automation
  • Analyze test results, identify bugs, and work with the development team to resolve issues
Leadership & Team Management
  • Mentor QA Analysts, providing guidance, training, and support in regard to automation test execution and writing
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, encouraging continuous improvement
Automation Strategy & Implementation
  • Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts using industry-standard tools and frameworks
Test Automation Development
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for various software applications using tools like Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, or similar
  • Develop automated tests for full automation of web application
  • Integrate automated tests into the continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline
Test Planning & Design
  • Collaborate with product managers and developers to understand product requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Create detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on functional and non-functional requirements
  • Identify and prioritize test cases for automation
Test Execution & Reporting
  • Execute automated test scripts and analyze the results to ensure software functionality and stability
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using issue-tracking tools such as Jira
Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with developers to identify and resolve issues during the software development lifecycle
  • Collaborate with manual testers to understand existing test cases and help in automating them
Performance & Load Testing
  • Develop and execute performance and load tests to ensure the application can handle expected user load
  • Analyze performance test results and work with the development team to resolve any issues
Continuous Improvements
  • Continuously improve the existing test automation framework and test scripts for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and best practices in QA automation
  • Mentor and train team members on test automation tools and techniques
Project Coordination
  • Coordinate testing efforts across multiple projects, ensuring timely and effective delivery of QA activities
  • Act as the primary point of contact for QA-related issues and escalate concerns to management as needed
Process Improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the QA team to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Implement and promote best practices in testing and quality assurance processes
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance or testing
  • 2+ years of experience in software testing, with a focus on automation
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#
  • Deep understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC), testing methodologies, and quality processes
  • Experience with web-based testing environments
  • Experience with test automation tools like Selenium, Appium, TestNG, JUnit, or similar
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies (Especially SAFe)
  • Familiarity with performance testing tools like JMeter
  • Experience with API testing tools like Postman or RestAssured
  • Knowledge of database testing and SQL
  • Knowledge of software testing methodologies, including unit, integration, system, and regression testing

Role Description:

Title: QA Automation Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA or Boca, FL or Chicago, IL

Duration: 12 mo + extensions + FTE

Day to Day:

Quality Engineering is transforming into a Cloud-based DevOps oriented Automation centric organization. In order to deliver high-quality software with speed to market in mind, we are looking for an experienced, smart, driven individual who will help us deliver world-class products. This could include working in new technologies such as Selenium, Java, Cucumber, a BDD framework, Continuous Integration, and a cloud-based environment with proven experience in automation scripting driving efficiencies into day-to-day Quality Assurance processes. The candidate is responsible for the design and implementation of a solution that can automate accessing and interacting with web services-based interfaces, along with driving other emulation software that tests certain aspects of our product.

*Coming in to help with mobile automation and mobile performance testing for a government project.*

Must-Haves:

  • 5+ years experience working as a QA Automation Engineer .
  • 3-5 years of proven experience using Java - (QA-related space)
    • Experience with TestNG framework with Java.
  • 2-4+ years of experience using Selenium Webdriver & Selenium IDE for automation .
  • 2-4+ years with Mobile Automation (preferably Appium )
    • Creating test frameworks and adding more regression scenarios.
  • 2-4+ years of experience using SQL on the backend.
    • Joins to joins, stored procedures, etc
  • Experience using GitHub for source control (pushing/pulling through the repository)
  • 1-2+ years of experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab /Jenkins /Github - any works)
  • Some hands-on experience testing on any of the public cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP )
    • Azure preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the entire SDLC Requirement gathering & analysis, planning, design, development, testing, and implementation
  • Good verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Cucumber/BDD framework

•Develop and execute test automation scripts utilizing tools such as Selenium, Jmeter, and API by performing comprehensive risk analysis for extensive test coverage.

•Integrate tests into the CI/CD pipeline to facilitate continuous testing and provide rapid feedback.

•Maintain and expand test automation libraries, frameworks, and tools for smoke, functional, and regression testing while adhering to coding standards that ensure product quality and automation readiness.

•Review test scripts to meet quality standards and best practices, ensuring scalable and reusable automation frameworks.

•Document software defects and issues concisely and resolve recurring code issues using specialized testing knowledge.

•Identify, document, and monitor defects uncovered through automated testing, conduct defect-triage, and provide recommendations.

•Communicate identified risks to the QA/Dev team and report any impediments affecting sprint goals and release deadlines.

•Conduct performance and load testing to ensure reliability and scalability.

•Develop and implement comprehensive performance test plans followed by detailed analysis of results.

•Systematically organize and evaluate automation test reports.

•Implement and enhance automation tools and processes.

•Maintain up-to-date and accessible documentation.

•Recommend new automation tools and technologies by staying informed on industry trends and advancements.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of combined Automation and QA testing experience
  • 3+ years of automation experience
  • 2+ years of automation coding in C#
  • Automation testing tools such as Selenium, Jmeter and SoapUI/API
  • Continuous testing in a CI/CD environment such as Azure DevOps
  • Automation test framework, such as xUnit Preferred
  • Visual studio, git repository or other development IDEs and tools.
  • Strong SQL knowledge and basic understanding of Databases such as MS SQL server
  • Working in an Agile development process.
  • Bachelor's in computer science or related field.
