Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:
Maximus is seeking a BUR Administrator to provide expertise to a federal client in support of their mission critical systems in defense of our Homeland.
We are seeking an experienced Backup and Recovery (BUR) Administrator to join our team. As a BUR Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our organization's enterprise backup solutions. Your role will involve configuration, monitoring, administration, and maintenance of a large environment of IBM Storage Protect (aka. IBM Spectrum Protect / Tivoli Storage Manager) and IBM Storage Protect for Virtual Environments (Data Protection for VMware) for the business continuity of Unix / Linux, Database, and Windows servers and virtual machines. Knowledge of NetBackup would be a plus but not a requirement for the potential candidate.
This is an on-site position that requires a Secret Clearance

Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up, configure, and manage Storage Protect / Spectrum Protect instances and clients.
- Manage LAN-based backups, monitor schedules, troubleshoot failures, and make sure all servers and databases are successfully backed up daily.
- Configure tape paths, oversee data and server restoration, and ensure retention policies align with business needs.
- Perform periodic health checks, install software patches, optimize performance, and conduct housekeeping for server databases.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Unix / Windows OS knowledge.
- Management of disk and tape backup pools
- Manage offsite copies of backed up data for business continuity
- Conduct storage capacity planning and forecasting to accommodate future growth and changing business requirements.
Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:
- Active Secret Clearance is required.
- Due to agency and contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens with no dual citizenship
- This is an on-site position at a government facility.
- Requires presence on-site five days per week in Annapolis Junction, MD.
- Candidates must reside within a commutable distance.
- Participation in a rotational on-call schedule for emergency page-outs is required.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Seven (7)+ years of experience in a Storage Administrator role or in a related field

In this role you will manage the Backup & Recovery Engineering activities. You will be the key focal SME to manage, operate, support the backup and recovery environment. In addition, providing guidance, coaching, & mentoring to the team members.
Responsibilities:
+ Prepare project plans, provide estimates for project tasks, and assist with prioritization in relation to capacity planning and performance analytics.
+ Work on establishing the Enterprise backup and recovery strategy and way forward.
+ Design, deploy, and administer Backup and recovery infrastructures.
+ Analyze and specify technology opportunities and make system recommendations.
+ Participate in project team meetings to represent the Backup & recovery SMEs and provide input on project design and architectures
+ Make sure there is a smooth changeover from the old technology system to the new one
+ Provide guidance on Automation and Orchestration orchestrate wherever it is possible.
+ Work closely with relevant stake holders to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the project(s).
+ Make sure that each stage of a deliverable is progressing on time and to the relevant quality/standards.
+ Determine requirements, develop specifications, architect a solution, and implement it in a timely manner.
+ Agree clear project scopes, objectives, deliverables, priorities, and timescales.
+ Keep abreast of all Data Protection & recovery technologies and corresponding complementing technologies.
+ Continually assist in updating roadmaps and future state documents.
+ Ensure project status reports to stakeholders are submitted by ensuring regular and accurate blogging and updates of projects and activities.
+ Ensure project deliverables are clearly defined, planned, prioritized & kept on track and within scope.
+ Act as a technical touch point for members of the team, offering guidance, coaching, mentoring and support.
Qualifications:
+ 10+ years in large Enterprise backup & recovery Engineering Environment
+ Experienced in managing and operation backup environment running backup management software tools such Dell EMC Data protection Suite, (PPDM, Networker etc.), IBM TSM Spectrum/Storage Protect, Veeam, & Veritas Backup Exec.
+ The ability to cooperate in a team environment is critical
+ An ability to think outside of the box with a long-term view, when recommending solutions.
+ Organizational skills are required to ensure compliance with corporate standards.
+ Supports recovery efforts in the event of systems failure, disaster and cyber ransomware attacks.
+ Candidates must have the ability to motivate and lead others in a positive manner and ensure the groups work gets done in a timely fashion.
+ Strong research initiative, a self-starter at locating relevant documentation, support and process assistance
+ Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact and communicate with a variety of individuals at all levels is required.

Compensation Range: The salary range for this position is between $130,000 - $140,000.
