We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with top-notch programming skills to join our team. The primary role of this individual will be to manage and organize our battery performance database, enhance the existing formulas and calculations used for sizing utility-scale battery energy storage systems in Excel, and ultimately transition these calculations to a software environment. This software will allow users to input data and automatically calculate the appropriate sizing for battery energy storage systems.
**Responsibilities:**

**3. System Integration and Loss Management:**
+ Understand the sizing requirements for both DC (i.e. battery) and AC (i.e. inverter) components and ensure the sizing inputs are taking into account the detrimental factors from the broader energy ecosystem such as PV or wind.
+ Identify and manage losses in the system to ensure accurate battery sizing and project feasibility.
+ Implement measures to enhance the efficiency, performance, and cost- effectiveness of storage solutions.
**4. Power Purchase Agreements:**
+ Be hands-on involved with power purchase agreements review to understand unique use case details and requirements for each battery project that can impact the sizing and overbuild.
+ Size and optimize battery systems accordingly to meet specific project needs and contractual obligations.
**5. Value Engineering and Optimization:**
+ Conduct value engineering assessments to address bottlenecks and areas of improvement.
+ Engage in optimization initiatives to harmonize existing systems with cutting-edge technological advancements.
**6. Project Management and Supply Chain Coordination:**
+ Act as the main POC between the engineering team and the supply chain team for battery technology knowledge sharing.
+ Collaborate internally with the BESS project managers and project engineers to ensure project-specific constraints are taken into account for the project sizing, and act as main POC for communicating the project sizing with the supply chain team.
+ Perform due diligence on manufacturing sites, assessing battery cell, module, and container integration and testing processes.
**7. Pilot Projects and Innovation:**
+ Perform due diligence on the commercial and technical readiness of various battery chemistries (e.g., lithium-ion, alternative technologies).
+ Make recommendations for pilot projects based on the potential for commercialization and scalability in the United States.
+ Work closely to secure funding for pilot projects and drive innovation in battery storage solutions.
**Experience:**
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy storage design, engineering, and technology evaluation.

Pivot Energy is seeking an Energy Storage Engineer to join our team and work across disciplines to support the technical evaluation, selection, and development of battery energy storage in Pivot's project pipeline. This role will be instrumental in guiding Pivot Energy's procurement, partnerships, and project development decisions in the rapidly evolving energy storage landscape.

The Energy Storage Engineer will provide guidance to inform market offerings to ensure the successful evaluation and execution of storage projects, contributing a strong understanding of battery technologies, procurement & partnership decisions, battery operational parameters, battery system commissioning knowledge, and lifecycle economics. The Energy Storage Engineer will work closely with team members on the Strategy & Engineering teams on energy storage design engineering, equipment reviews and selection, and coordinate with third-party engineering consultants to smoothly navigate our pipeline between our Market Strategy, Engineering, Preconstruction, and Project Management teams. This role is highly collaborative and will require exceptional communication and collaborative skills in addition to technical expertise.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Support design review and analysis for energy storage equipment, prioritizing design and product quality for long-term operation and ownership.
    • Evaluate and compare different Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) vendors and products from technological and operational perspectives, prioritizing long-term operation and ownership.
    • Establish relationships with BESS equipment providers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), BESS Software vendors, and other technical solutions to make our BESS projects a success.
    • Maintain an internal database of BESS and OEM equipment providers and vendors
    • Evaluate vendor proposals for BESS, including pricing, technology, warranties, service offerings, and commercial terms
    • Complete comparative assessments of energy storage companies and integrators based on technical capabilities, execution track record, and risk factors.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create equipment specifications, procurement guidance, and project terms for Energy Storage-related equipment, including batteries, inverters, controls, etc.
    • Research and evaluate different energy storage technologies and provide recommendations for the best options for Pivot Energy markets & projects.
    • Collaborate with Pivot's engineering teams and external consultants to develop design documents for energy storage projects, including SLDs, site layouts, inverter specifications, testing criteria, etc.
    • Work with the Project Engineering team to validate commissioning-related activities and guide them to conduct site acceptance testing of energy storage equipment
    • Ensure vendor offerings align with project-specific technical requirements, timelines, and interconnection constraints
    • Establish and maintain engineering requirements for energy storage projects
    • Analyze and track warranty, degradation data, performance, and availability guarantees offered by different vendors
    • Coordinate the division of responsibilities and balance of systems with different Pivot teams for projects involving energy storage installation and commissioning.
    • Engage with vendors, integrators, and OEMS for different DC Block, AC Block, PCS, and software that can be used in Pivot's projects
    • Provide technical and product support for PPA negotiations and contract executions, as required
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system integration, safety standards, control strategies, contracting, and execution phases
    • Clearly articulate findings in clear, actionable reports and presentations for stakeholders as required
    • Willingness to travel on an ad-hoc basis as needed, including travel to quarterly retreats in Denver, Colorado

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

    • Experience with commercial & industrial (C&I) energy storage projects at the distributed generation level (preferred).
    • Operational knowledge of energy storage controls and/or modeling software

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES
    • Prior experience in procurement, vendor selection, RFP management, or technical due diligence
    • Understanding of power electronics, energy management systems, and grid interconnection requirements specifically related to Battery Energy Storage Systems
    • Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., UL 9540, IEEE 1547, NFPA 855), interconnection rules, and grid compliance
    • Knowledge of utility processes and requirements for interconnection to distribution and transmission systems with regard to battery storage

$100,000 - $35,000 a year

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The estimated base salary range for this position is 100,000 - 135,000, depending on relevant experience, along with eligibility for the company's substantial bonus plan, with a target bonus of 30% of annual salary (prorated in the first year based on start date). Compensation will be based on factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

UMM in partnership with Otter Tail Power Company and OATI have received a grant to fund a large-scale energy-storage demonstration project. The project has a specific goal of installing, operating, and analyzing the performance of a 1 MW battery that will integrate into the campus’s electrical grid, which is largely powered by clean energy. The project is a grant that is funded by the LCCMR process via the State of Minnesota Environmental Natural Resources Trust Fund. This position is a unique opportunity to work with industry and higher education partners on a novel and high visibility technical project. The position also provides an opportunity to learn and grow in an emerging clean energy field and have an opportunity to learn project management skills. Posting Date 06/10/2025 Closing Date 08/10/2025 Location in MN West Central Job type full-time For (8351IS) $23.30 - $6.44 per hour. For (8352IS) 25.14 - 32.92 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience Primary Duties Coordinate, Organize and Develop the project - 40% Lead project team with members from the University of Minnesota Morris, Otter Tail Power Company, OATI and other members that join the team as the project develops. Present information on the project to various groups and leaders. Develop communication materials in support of the project (print materials, banners, features for websites and articles). Support efforts of the project to connect to overall campus and community goals for carbon reduction via renewable energy projects. Job Summary
The Product Manager is responsible for providing offering management leadership to drive growth and profitability of Vertiv's Energy Storage offerings globally. The role requires frequent collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Service teams to execute new offering programs and manage the existing portfolio of offerings.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute product lifecycle management plans including product introduction, line extension, engineered to order, and end of production.
  • Develop and maintain business cases through ideation, development, and launch.
  • Research market trends, demand drivers, customer needs, and the competitive landscape.
  • Convert research insights into innovative product strategies and detailed market requirements.
  • Ensure all customer facing offering documentation and marketing collateral is available and accurate.
  • Provide offering information to Customers, Sales, Customer Service and Application Engineering.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, product demos, and other sales enablement tools.
  • Develop and track metrics to measure post-launch sales performance of new offerings.
  • Collaborate with Marketing teams to develop marketing programs for demand generation.
  • Manage list pricing and discounts.
  • Manage product line profitability and volume forecasts.
  • Assist in championing resolution of offering issues (i.e. delivery, quality, inventory)
  • Identify and pursue continuous improvement projects that deliver improved efficiency and/or quality.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related technical degree; Electrical Engineering is preferred; Master's Degree in business administration is preferred.
  • 8+ years technical, product/service management, strategic planning, marketing, or directly related experience.
  • Experience with Lithium-Ion Batteries or VRLA and or Battery Monitoring is preferred.
  • Ability to quickly develop cross-functional and cross-regional relationships to achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrated competence in problem solving, data analysis, & project management.
  • Process and results oriented with proven ability to accomplish goals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Smartsheet, and other business applications.
  • Excellent communications skills - written & verbal.
  • Travel:
    • This position requires up to 10% domestic and international travel.
