The City of Taylor is seeking candidates for a Supervisor position located at the Taylor Sportsplex, within the City of Taylor.
There is no required experience for this position, but previous managerial or supervisory experience is certainly preferable.
POSITION SUMMARY :This position will be responsible for overseeing daily facility operations and employee performance during their particular shift. A shift supervisor's job description involves a variety of different tasks, from assisting customers to reporting daily building requirements/needs.

- You'll support the commitment of the YMCA to child abuse prevention by:
- Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor.
- Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children.
- Report any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
- Complete all child abuse prevention training as required.
- Teaches and demonstrates the Y's values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring and faith.
- Implements all YMCA member and staff polices consistently. Communicates and documents incidents as needed according to YMCA guidelines and procedures.

- Brings diverse individuals, groups, organizations and communities together for sharing and mutual support.
- Regularly walks all areas of the facility and the outside grounds. Monitor activities. Respond to member needs and assist as needed.

- Maintains approachability and visibility to YMCA members and staff. Identify and take ownership of solving problems in a professional manner. Always convey a positive attitude when interacting with members, guests and staff.
- Maintains availability to support the Relationship Managers to ensure member are able to access the facility and their needs are met.
- Serves as the primary responder to all security and disciplinary incidents, fire alarms and medical emergencies. In an emergency, summon any needed professional assistance (police, fire, EMS, etc.) and follow their directions.
- Assists in identifying needed improvements in the areas of risk management, safety, grounds care, and overall member service.
- Attends all required training events and staff meetings.
- Works collaboratively with coworkers and association leadership.
- Ensures a strong focus on character development and diversity, equity and inclusion throughout programming.
- Reports damaged equipment or safety hazards promptly.
- Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Rock River Valley.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Six months to one-year related experience and/or training desired.
- Minimum age of 21 years old.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are a must; proven ability to work with children and adults of all ages.
- Previous customer service, sales or related experience strongly preferred.
- High degree of self-confidence and problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- CPR, AED and First Aid certifications required within 90 days.
- Praesidium Academy trainings.
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
- Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.

Nature Of Work
This is responsible building and staff supervision work that involves overseeing the safe and effective operation of buildings, facilities and equipment in recreational facilities for the Parks and Recreation Department. Work also involves the indirect responsibility for the supervision of all on-duty personnel. Work involves responsibility for indirectly supervising on-duty staff, ensuring building, facility, and equipment safety; performing record keeping procedures and security checks; distributing flyers and other information regarding activities; participating and implementing programs, activities, and special events; and enforcing established policies and procedures. Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age with high school diploma or GED.
- Experience and knowledge of recreation facility building operations, procedures and practices, and providing customer service.
- Ability to obtain Loudoun County Pool Operators license, Standard First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer within one month of employment.
