The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
The Ground Systems Support (GSS) organization is looking for a Project Manager in the Construction Management Department with a background in construction and fabrication. This individual will provide oversight and assistance in managing all aspects of construction projects for COMET and lead special projects and project teams as assigned by management to support strategic goals and objectives. Within the Ground Systems Support Directorate, the Construction Management Project Manager position will assume overall responsibility for the following:
**Responsibilities**
Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Provide Project Management oversight and assist in managing all aspects of construction projects.
- Provide Project Management oversight and assist with the management of Project Scope, Risks, Budgets, Estimates, Schedules, and Schedule Changes.
- Provide Project Management oversight in coordination with Construction Managers who oversee Craft Labor Projects.
- Demonstrate understanding of, and assist in, project scheduling development and resource loading to capture all work performed.
- Prepare or request Period Of Performance (POP) Extensions, Requests for Information (RFI) on engineering drawings, Letters of Technical Direction (LTD), and other technical documents, contract mechanisms, etc., in execution of construction projects.
- Perform duties as single Point-of-Contact (POC) for fabrication projects where work requested is sent offsite, all or part, and not performed at the various shops managed by COMET. Provide oversight for this work, once identified by Ground Systems Support (GSS) Management to be outsourced, from inception until delivery and closeout
- Host / Facilitate Project Team meetings.
- Create appropriate Statements of Work (SOW) for outsourced work and be POC for and work any issues in concert with COMET Project Managers, Engineering, Logistics, Launch Equipment Services (LES) Shop, and outside vendors.
- Exercise sound judgement and demonstrate excellent skills in working with other organizations, NASA and COMET customers, Contracts, and outside vendors.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including on-going or one-off special projects.
**Qualifications - External**
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least four years of experience.
- Experience in project management principles, facility and ground hardware design/build projects and project cost accounting is mandatory.
- PMP Certification is highly desirable.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings; working knowledge of end-to-end processes of construction and fabrication including assembly and test; experience writing statements of work and basis of estimates; understanding of sub-contracts execution and legal/regulatory requirements.
- Experience with raw materials and material processes such as grades of metals, chemical processes, and treatments (passivation, pickling, Alodine, etc.) is desired.
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills with NASA and other Contractors, and effectively represent COMET's needs on various projects with outside contractors as POC for GSS outsourced work.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
- Must be able to coordinate work between multiple project disciplines.
- Requires demonstrated leadership skills as evidenced by prior experience.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects without missing deadlines or sacrificing accuracy and quality.
- Must be self-motivated, demonstrate understanding of program and project priorities, and be able to work highly independently.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and customer interface skills with a proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects with multiple stakeholders and to deliver results within schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned including special projects unrelated to normal work.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.
- Must be able to travel to support position requirements.

**General Purpose of Job**
The Construction Management Intern is responsible for the oversight and successful execution of maintenance and CAPEX projects at the site. Under close supervision, intern will be responsible for providing technical support to the maintenance planning and scheduling department as well as the CAPEX department. This position will plan, coordinate, budget, and supervise all phases of a maintenance project to ensure it is completed on time, within budget, and to the required safety and quality standards. This position will consult with maintenance engineering and maintenance work coordinators for feasibility and constructability review, cost preparation, and the project scope of work per the construction package, owning field productivity of all contractors and Indorama associates associated with the maintenance project execution. This role will help drive improvement by standardize best practices in the Planning function and helping plan jobs when necessary. This role is critical to the effective and efficient execution of maintenance work through job planning, estimating, and obtaining, materials to execute maintenance work. This position will frequently interact with planners, schedulers, operators, technicians, storeroom personnel, area operations maintenance coordinators, maintenance work coordinators, and engineers.
**Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities**
+ Responsible for maintenance schedule/execution plan/constructability input.
+ Oversees and manages contractor(s) construction activities to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, environmental guidelines, quality assurance programs and construction safety programs.
+ Responsible for construction efficiency.
+ Monitors and tracks schedule and progress and ensures overall project schedule compliance.
+ Coordinate material (field/shop/etc.) and equipment to minimize any inefficiencies during the construction phase.
+ Coordinate permitting and make-ready process.
+ Construction package development - help ensure all work is captured to avoid scope changes during the execution phase of the project.
+ Coordinate a pre-job field walk of the construction package with maintenance work coordinators and contractors for critical jobs.
+ Coordinate any fabrication required.
+ Provide drawing comments on issued for comment packages.
+ Review approved for construction packages with planning and scheduling team.
+ Perform job site inspections for quality control.
+ Ensure all personnel have a safe working environment and follow the agreed upon safety standards and procedures.
+ Conduct daily safety field observations and interventions.
+ Participate in Pre Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
+ Provide input to maintenance weekly schedule.
+ Attend maintenance planning and scheduling meetings, as requested.
+ Provide status updates to mentor on project assignments.
+ Under management supervision, ensure that activities are carried out to comply with the integrated management system, as applicable (safety, food safety, GMP, health, environmental, quality and responsible care requirements).
+ Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
+ Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
+ Assists other employees in accomplishments of Indorama company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
+ Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participates in and completes company required training programs.
**Education / Experience / Skills Requirements**
+ Must be a full-time college student at the Junior or Senior level by the end of Spring 2026, currently enrolled at an accredited university seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, or Construction Management.
+ 3.0 GPA or higher required.
+ Must be authorized to work in U.S. and not require work authorization sponsorship for this position or in the future.
+ Must possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card. Please visit for information on TWIC.
**Specific Skills and Knowledge**
+ Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
+ Knowledge of project planning, project cost, and scheduling control.
+ Knowledge of engineering and construction standards, materials, and companies/vendors processes.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of industry safety standards and applicable laws.
+ Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and project plans.
+ Knowledge of the basic principles and methods used in chemical plant manufacturing and analyses.
+ Must be detail oriented and analytical.
+ Strong planning and organizational skills.
+ Self-starter with proven leadership abilities, strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.
+ Ability to align with the strategic direction of the company.
+ Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
+ Able to build relationships across all organizational lines.
+ Able to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
+ Must be willing to commit to the summer program for the entire 10-week program.

As a Construction Management Intern you will be in the field, working on water infrastructure construction projects targeting lead service line and water main replacement. Working under close supervision of senior construction engineers, you will assist in observation, field inspection, reports and project documentation.
