About the Role:

Planet is looking for an experienced strategic partnerships and business development leader to join the Go-to-Market (GTM) Strategy team at Planet. This high-impact role will be responsible for driving partnerships and deals aligned with Planets overall corporate strategy. The role will report to the Vice President of GTM Strategy and Investor Relations.

In this senior and high visibility role, you will be expected to create and drive key elements of Planets corporate strategy and plans. For example, you will support the AI research team in identifying impactful product and technology opportunities with Cloud and generative AI companies and develop plans that create differentiation for Planets data and accelerate customer adoption. Youll build these strategic partner relationships to help unlock broader market potential for Planets data.

You will conduct build, buy, partner evaluations and execute deals with the goal of driving growth and shareholder value. In addition, you will support Planets Space Business Group as the deal lead driving late stage Constellation Services partnership and deal activities, including deal structuring, negotiations and closure.

This requires strengths in strategic thinking, business development, deal structuring, negotiations, project management, financial modeling, analytical & problem-solving skills, cross group collaboration and executive communication skills. Prior experience at a Cloud or generative AI company is a plus. This is a tremendous opportunity to drive meaningful impact on the company's growth.

This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to be in our San Francisco, HQ 3 days per week.

Impact You'll Own:

  • Identify how strategic partnerships and transactions can help accelerate company strategy, including with Cloud / AI partners
  • Support the entirety of the deal process including sourcing, diligence, negotiation, and execution with support from large cross functional teams
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis to assess company valuation and synergy opportunities
  • Prepare and give business reviews to executive leadership team regarding progress and roadblocks
  • Develop best practices for diligence, valuation, negotiation and integration
  • Shape strategy by identifying key industry trends, maintaining relationships with relevant external partners
  • Instill a customer-first culture centered around placing Planet customers at the forefront of every business decision

What You Bring:

  • 12+ years of work experience within or across corporate strategy, strategy consulting, GTM strategy, corporate development, and/or business development for technology companies
    • 7+ years of experience developing, leading, or executing commercial partnerships
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills including financial and company valuation analyses and pricing strategy
  • Ability to excel across a wide variety of work including strategy, sourcing, analysis, negotiation, and integration
  • Experience successfully negotiating to close deals
  • Proven track record of sophisticated problem solving, attention to detail, and delivering results cross-functionally including evaluating, executing and integrating acquisitions
  • Experience effectively communicating strategic objectives and action plans to executives and multiple teams across a variety of functions
  • Excellent leadership experience and ability to work with colleagues across multiple disciplines and in geographically dispersed locations

Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.   • Working with various teams such as BD Core, New Business Team, Creative, Events & Sponsorships, Martech, Library & Research, Alumni, Brand & Communications, and the Financial Information Center in the delivery of information on client intelligence, research, pitch information, events, and lawyer materials
  • Assisting in monitoring office initiatives with key account clients in the market
  • Acting as the go-to resource for office BD needs and support

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
* Performs prospect development activities in assigned territory. Develops and closes relationships with prospects to increase the overall new business acquisition by office or region.
* Achieves specific annual production target and revenue goals assigned by management. Tracks and communicates results as requested. Documents and records all sales activities in the designated reporting system (myCNB).
* Calls on prospective clients within the framework of a business development program including identification of prospects, suitable method of contact and determination of their needs to match appropriate products/services for cross-sell purposes.
* Cultivates referral sources through contacts within the Bank and in the community through involvement in civic activities, philanthropic organizations, and community sponsored programs to obtain new business prospects and referrals.
* Works with management to plan business development opportunities. Maintains limited personal contact with new customers and collaborates with relationship managers with the sales and implementation of banking services. Passes off prospects to Relationship Managers per Bank's segmentation policy, after the deal is closed. Remains alert to customer needs in order to makes appropriate referrals to other departments as they arise.
* Interacts with Bank colleagues to discuss prospects/referrals and formulates sales strategies. Makes ongoing calls to develop referral sources and obtain new business development opportunities.
* Leverages business opportunities by including internal sales partners to accomplish cross sale expectations in Cash Management, Wealth Management and International products and services in addition to Commercial, Core and Private Banking core products (i.e., deposits and loans).
* It is the individual responsibility of every employee to maintain a current awareness and understanding of appropriate banking laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures, and to comply fully with those laws, regulations, policies and procedures

Applicants and Employees in Unincorporated Los Angeles County:The Los Angeles Fair Chance Ordinance (LAFCO) requires employers conducting criminal history checks for applicants or employees to state the job duties for which certain criminal history may have a direct, adverse and negative relationship. For this position, these job duties include: engaging with clients, employees, and other third-parties (including the general public); accessing company and client information, IT systems and infrastructure, assets, property, and products, including proprietary coding, programs, applications, and data; and appropriately handling such information, including company and client confidential and personal information. For this reason, certain criminal history may result in the withdrawal of a condition offer of employment. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the LAFCO and the California Fair Chance Act.
