Role Description
As a Principal Consultant on the Americas Upstream & Carbon Management Consulting team, you will play a key role in our growing Americas consulting practice. You will be involved in all aspects of the consulting process, from shaping the opportunity, performing the analysis, managing the project, and working closely with senior clients and Wood Mackenzie experts to develop insights that support critical strategic decisions.
Your primary role will be managing commercial and strategy consultancy projects for companies in the Upstream & Carbon Management sectors in the Americas. This includes a growing number of energy transition-themed engagements related to Portfolio Resilience, New Market Entry, CCUS, GHG emissions, etc.
This role requires a high level of creative thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities coupled with detailed knowledge and experience of the Upstream & CCUS markets. These capabilities must be accompanied by a strong command of oral and written communication skills in both internal as well as client-facing environments. Additionally, outstanding team and project management capabilities, in a consulting context, are required for the purpose of this role.
The role requires frequent engagement with and work alongside senior client teams and occasional travel throughout the Americas region. We are also not looking for just a principle consultant, rather, we are looking for the next leaders for Wood Mackenzies Americas consulting practice who will help advise our clients with the most pressing questions and strategic decisions.

Main Responsibilities
As a Principal Consultant at WoodMackenzie,you will lead our consulting assignments and business development efforts. Your main responsibilities will be:
- Manage and execute complex consulting projects by setting up a detailed project plan and working with a team to execute toward milestones.
- Be the main point of contact with key client stakeholders during project delivery (status calls, presentations) and ultimately responsible to deliver such work on time and within budget.
- Train, coach, and mentor junior consultants to deliver high-quality work for our clients and build a bench of future industry experts and leaders
- Engage clients to identify potential business opportunities, translating open-ended business inquiries into formal project proposals.
- Bring a thorough and current understanding of the upstream sector in the Americas region, within the context of the energy transition, and be able to effectively discussrecentevents and implications with clients and colleagues
Knowledge & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as business, economics, finance, statistics, or engineering; master's and/or MBA preferred
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in a management consulting or energy-focused consulting role, or other strategic/commercial role relating to upstream oil and gas. Other industry experience is beneficial but not required.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with clients
- Experience managing key project workflows and overall coordination of projects in a Project Manager role
- Strong understanding of the energy value chain (exploration, development, production, transportation, transformation and commercialization), including the implications of the energy transition
- Strong understanding of commercial operations, business models and strategies
- Track record of quickly becoming knowledgeable and speaking credibly about a wide range of subjects and themes
- Other language skills (e.g., Spanish) are not required but a plus
Recent projects our Upstream practice have engaged in include:
- Advising a government in the Americas and developing a successful licensing round strategy, including fiscal system design, bidding criteria assessment, and overall regulation
- Advising an energy infrastructure group to formulate its CCUS strategy and assess its internal capabilities for execution
- Evaluating and benchmarking the carbon footprint of the portfolio of a large independent against industry and leaders in the context of the energy transition
- Conducting a multi-phased market entry assessment for an American independent, evaluating economic potential, as well as commercial, country and regulatory risks
- Executing a commercial due diligence for a midstream player in the Lower 48 to assess the feasibility of a gas pipeline expansion
- Performing a buy-side commercial due diligence for a National Oil Company (NOC) around existing oil field assets in the Americas
- Assessing the resiliency of the portfolio of an independent gas producer against different climate scenarios for the TCFD report
- Conducting a study about the financial industrys requirements on ESG disclosures, and actions for the energy industry, and its implications for an upstream focused operator
- Evaluating the feasibility of transforming a potash mine into an oil field evaporation pond
- Assisting operators to build/adjust their strategy and portfolio to be more resilient considering the Energy transition

- Organize and conduct small group meetings in project communities to assist local decision-makers on matters affecting facility development of water/wastewater facilities and/or developing solutions to existing water/waste disposal problems.

The preferred candidates will have field experience working at Superfund and other contaminated sites, running complex field programs, preparing planning documents and preparing reports for environmental characterization and remediation projects. As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:
- Performing work up to 50% onsite at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL) site in Simi Valley.
- Onsite field work would include but is not limited to soil and groundwater sampling, water level measurements, manual pumping of remediation wells, monitoring/troubleshooting an existing onsite solar powered groundwater extraction system, oversight of subcontractors, and other environmental field work.

The Maryland SoccerPlex is currently seeking an experienced, positive, and innovative self- starter to join the Grounds and Environmental Management (GEM) team as a Director of Grounds and Environmental Management. This individual should be motivated, open-minded and environmentally conscience. As Director, this person will be responsible for all planning, scheduling, and personnel management for the GEM team. As such, their main focus should be the creation and maintenance of high quality, multiuse natural grass playing surfaces. The Director will also be responsible for maintaining cohesive working relationships with not only SoccerPlex administrative staff, but County Parks maintenance and administrative staff as well. Long-term, the Director is expected to continue field renovations which lead to natural surfaces that are playable and consistent even in extreme conditions. The Maryland SoccerPlex - a 160-acre Park with 24 full-size fields (13 Bermudagrass, 8 Cool season, 3 Artificial) - is located in Boyds, MD (northwest of Washington, DC).
Responsibilities
Management :
- Create separate, annual agronomic plans for the SoccerPlex's 8 cool season fields, 13 warm season fields, 3 synthetic fields, as well as 80 acres of common areas surrounding playing surfaces.
- Agronomic plan must comply with all Maryland state fertilizer and pesticide laws,
- Integrate progressive/innovative strategies to maintain superior quality, high use natural grass surfaces,
- Manage and maintain annual operating budget including all purchasing,
- Propose annual budget adjustments as needed,
- Research and procure fixed assets on an annual basis, including but not limited to equipment, field construction/improvements, and landscaping construction/improvements,
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers,
- Development and execution of environmental safety plan,
- Coordinate with SoccerPlex Director of Operations on field usage and scheduling throughout the year,
- Coordinate/collaborate with Montgomery County maintenance staff weekly to ensure compliance with county regulations as well as maintain this unique private/public partnership,
- Plan, execute, and manage field improvement projects such as drainage and irrigation installation/repair, reseeding/sodding/sprigging of fields, etc.
- Act as general contractor on all field related construction projects,
- Continue progressively improving SoccerPlex natural playing surfaces via drainage installation, improved grass varieties, innovative cultural practices, etc.,
- Oversee daily operations and coordinate with Manager and Assistants to achieve agronomic goals,
- Operate turf maintenance equipment including various mowers, tractors, utility carts and other equipment essential to turf management operations,
- Oversee equipment maintenance plan for large fleet of John Deere, Redexim, and other turf equipment

Maryland SoccerPlex is on the northwest side of Washington, DC in Germantown, Maryland. **Pay Range:**
- Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP) - Min Salary $ 136,300.00 - Max Salary $ 204,400.00
**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
