Department Overview

Our Minneapolis 7th floor is a 33-bed pediatric unit that provides care to infants, children and young adults in the areas of hematology, oncology, general medical/surgical care and patients needing behavioral crisis monitoring. Our team of dedicated professionals specializes in care of patients with hematology and oncology diseases, including new diagnosis, transfusions, chemotherapy administration, central line maintenance and end-of-life care. Our 7th floor staff also care for general medical/surgical patients, particularly those with non-infectious illnesses in order to maintain a clean environment for our patients with weakened immune systems. We utilize three inpatient rooms to support patients who need behavioral crisis monitoring. Our patients have an average length of stay ranging from a few days up to months depending on the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment the patient is receiving. We work collaboratively with our outpatient hematology/oncology clinic to coordinate ongoing chemotherapy treatment and system management. We value, teamwork, open communication, safety and respect. **What You'll Do:**
The **Clinical Support Specialist** plays a key role in assisting nursing staff with daily operations, ensuring quality resident care, and supporting clinical and administrative tasks in the nursing home. This role involves ensuring nursing staff comply with day-to-day operations by communicating the facility's policies and ensuring the general order. Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and a positive image throughout the facility.
**Key Responsibilities of a Clinical Support Specialist:**
**Clinical Support & Resident Care:**
+ Assist nursing staff with care planning, patient care, assessments, treatments, and medication administration.
+ Support nurses with assessments, treatments, and medication administration as needed.
+ Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report findings to the nursing team.
+ Assist in care plan development and implementation.
+ Responds promptly and professionally to phone inquiries during shift.
**Administrative Support:**
+ Manages incoming calls and resident and family concerns with professionalism and empathy.
+ Oversee admissions, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.
+ Maintain medical records and assist with reports, audits, and quality assurance.
+ Guide new employees and support all staff with scheduling, training, and adherence to policies.
+ Promote teamwork, professionalism, and a culture of excellence.
