GovCIO is currently hiring for a Cloud Migration Engineer with an active Secret clearance to plan, manage, and execute the migration of applications and infrastructure to cloud-based platforms. This position will be located in Arlington, VA, and will be a fully remote position within the United States.
**Responsibilities**
We are seeking a talented and experienced Cloud Migration Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud computing and extensive knowledge of cloud migration strategies and technologies. As a Cloud Migration Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, managing, and executing the migration of our organization's applications and infrastructure to cloud-based platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop migration strategies, perform risk assessments, and ensure the successful completion of cloud migration projects. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance and support to optimize the performance, scalability, and security of our cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop cloud migration strategies.
- Perform comprehensive assessments of existing on-premises systems, applications, and infrastructure to identify migration requirements and dependencies.
- Design and implement migration plans, including selecting the appropriate cloud platform, defining resource requirements, and establishing migration timelines.
- Coordinate and execute the migration of applications, data, and infrastructure to cloud-based environments, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Monitor and troubleshoot migration activities, addressing any issues or roadblocks that may arise during the process.
- Optimize the performance, scalability, and security of cloud infrastructure by implementing best practices and leveraging cloud-native services.
- Develop and implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans for cloud-based environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and enforce cloud security policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams regarding cloud technologies, tools, and best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in cloud computing and migration strategies, and propose innovative solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop a migration plan that outlines the steps involved in the migration, the timeline, and the budget.
- Identify any risks or challenges that need to be addressed.
- Execute the migration plan, which may involve migrating data, applications, and workloads to the cloud, as well as configuring and testing the new environment.
- Troubleshoot any problems that arise.
**Qualifications**
High School with 10+ years (or commensurate experience)
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Cloud Migration Engineer or a similar role, with a track record of successfully executing cloud migration projects.
- 3+ years of experience in cloud computing.
- Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Familiarity with cloud migration tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Solid understanding of networking, virtualization, and infrastructure concepts.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform) for automation and infrastructure provisioning.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect) are a plus.
- Relevant virtualization certifications (e.g., VMware VCAP, Microsoft Enterprise Administrator Expert) are a plus.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts.

**Posted Pay Range**
The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. The Sr Manager position will lead a high-performing group responsible for multiple Splunk deployments and data onboarding to enable visibility into cloud infrastructure across multiple organizations. This role will focus on achieving business objectives and meeting stakeholder needs by partnering with cross-functional teams to support company initiatives.
This is a remote position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide IT governance, including providing leadership and direction in the support and utilization of the technology capabilities of the organization. Develop, maintain, and enforce system standards.
- Oversee Cloud Engineers daily technical tasks.
- Oversee customer service functions and staff daily to ensure that excellent customer service is provided to customers and stakeholders.
- Interact with internal division managers, business lines and internal IT teams.
- Manage assigned team facilitating training, quality assurance, and dispute resolution by providing ongoing supervision and by monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports based upon management requests.
- Approve timesheets, develop team schedule and other assigned duties.
Job-Specific Essential Duties :
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Gather and rationalize requirements, then steer data-driven solutions that meet business or internal requirements.
- Develop relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to gain an understanding of business drivers and objectives, current IT capabilities, products, service and IT roadmaps.
- Prioritize tasks and user stories based on business needs, technical feasibility, and team capacity.
- Conduct sprint planning meetings to define sprint goals, allocate resources, and set clear expectations for the team.
- Lead agile teams through sprint cycles, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features and improvements.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field of study; or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of people management experience, 7+ years of project management and/or related experience.
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes and concepts with experience in managing Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Job-Specific Minimum Requirement s:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field with more than 10 years of relevant experience.
- Strong coordination skills to facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, fostering continuous improvement and team collaboration.
- Knowledge of monitoring frameworks, logging systems, and observability tools like Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic or others.
- Working knowledge of native cloud services: AWS, Azure, GCP.
- Experience building and supporting products & services in "As a Service" models (e.g. SaaS, IaaS, PaaS) and platforms. (e.g. AWS, Azure)
- Previous programming/scripting experience with languages: Python, PowerShell, JavaScript frameworks (NodeJS, Angular), Bash, Web Services.
- Experience with Agile/continuous integration/DevOps using code pipeline tools, Terraform, Azure Devops, GitHub.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to influence peers and superiors (technical and business) the strategic direction of overall solution.
- Must be able to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment of competing and alternating priorities.
