Duties to include:

  • Install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Cisco switches, routers, and Microsoft Windows servers/workstations following evolving mission requirements.
  • Implement cybersecurity measures that ensure continuous, secure, and resilient operations across enterprise and tactical environments.
  • Maintain network components and proactively identify vulnerabilities through diagnostics and remediation planning.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, analysts, and government technicians to support system-related problem-solving and future enhancement needs.
  • Lead cybersecurity implementation activities related to securing systems under the Federal ATO process, ensuring proper controls are in place and compliance is sustained.
  • Contribute to work plan development, project execution, and delivery of technical consulting outputs.
  • Support government-led cybersecurity investigations and reporting by rapidly restoring protections and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for cybersecurity engineering and system administration practices.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree from an ABET accredited program in Cybersecurity, Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics with a concentration in computer science or equivalent
  • Clearance: Top Secret
  • Certifications: IAT Level III Certification
Experience:
  • Ten (10) years of experience implementing and maintaining cybersecurity control requirements, including system hardening, vulnerability assessment, and incident response.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco network infrastructure, Windows OS environments, and cybersecurity compliance processes (e.g., ATO).
  • Proven ability to analyze complex system and network challenges and deliver practical, secure solutions.
  • Experience may include plan, implement, upgrade, and/or monitor cybersecurity measures to improve cyber defense and maintain a cyber-resilient network; assess cybersecurity vulnerabilities for risks and propose and implement remediation actions or risk mitigation strategies; ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and electronic infrastructure; and respond to computer security breaches to re-establish protections and make required reports.
Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $180,000 to $90,000.

The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos has an opening for a senior Network Engineer on the DISA Defense Red Switch Network team in support of an enterprise VoIP management system - GSM-O II contract at Fort Meade, MD. The successful candidate will have a Network Engineering background responsible for the design, document, test, deployment and maintenance of the IP network solutions within an enterprise environment on a high-paced, fast-moving program.

As a Network Engineer, the successful candidate will be a part of a team that interacts with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customers and vendors but primarily with subject matter expert teammates. In this role, the candidate will be a subject matter expert (SME) in all things related to the IP Network technologies, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability of WAN and LAN infrastructure across multiple environments (DEV/TEST and Production). The candidate will also provide technical assistance, administer configurations, upgrade software, develop and/or update related documentation, ensure applicable STIGs are applied and documented, conduct and support testing on work performed, recommend enhancements, and troubleshoot and resolve issues associated with the various network components.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with DRSN engineers and site personnel for coordinating deployments and maintenance actions.
  • Evaluate system network requirements and make appropriate technical recommendations.
  • Proficiency with Juniper networking devices to include establishing remote management connectivity, updating the operating systems, coordinating and performing verification test (BER or "burn-in" tests) configuring alarm and system profiles, and configuring/testing various layers of the OSI model.
  • Assist IA personnel regarding network security and SSP maintenance. Ensure that the network configuration meets all IA requirements.

The Network Engineer is responsible for assessing systems, determining problems, providing solutions to issues that arise, designing systems, upgrading systems, maintaining systems and brainstorming possible improvements that can be made to a system in the future.

This position is 100% onsite at Joint Base Andrews, MD and requires an active Secret clearance to start.

The AFNCR IT Services program provides support services for information systems for Headquarters Air Force (HAF), Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other Air Force activities within the AFNCR, missions to include the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), and other locations, leased spaces, and alternate sites. The major support areas required are IT Operations and Maintenance; Plans, Projects, and Engineering (PP&E); and National Military Command Center (NMCC). Primary duties are as follows:

  • Monitor data or infrastructure system networks for various messages, alarms, or issues. 

  • Identify issues or problems and resolves as appropriate; escalates when necessary.

  • Troubleshoot problems using scripts and standard, routine procedures; escalates as appropriate.

  • Initiate resolution as appropriate for enterprise level routers and switches.

  • Interface with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance.

  • Process Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI's) as directed by management.

  • Maintain required security posture on all network equipment in accordance with DoD and local command mandates and requirements, including updates, STIGs, IOS upgrades, and other basic network security requirements.

  • Support special projects and day to day operations as needed or assigned by the site lead

  • Support on-call rotation schedule

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8+ years of related experience, additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

  • Currently possess an Active DoD Secret security clearance

  • Active CompTIA Security + or CCNP Security certification

  • Active CCNA Certification

  • Expert knowledge with LAN switching, including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP), Port Security, Spanning Tree, and Layer 2 and 3 switching configurations.

  • Expert knowledge with Layer 3 routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, etc.) and best practices on implementation.

  • Expert knowledge with with L1/L2 network troubleshooting (Unclassified and Classified

  • Expert knowledge of DoD network and application security hardening requirements

  • Experienced with programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting encryption devices at network points of presence including management via GEM-X or other DoD management tools.

  • Experienced with DoD COMSEC management processes and procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced with Cisco ISE and Cisco DNA

  • Knowledge of Air Force, Pentagon, and/or AFNCR

  • Experienced working at the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB)

Required certifications:

               o Evaluate the effectiveness of Automation and best practice insertion opportunities
               o Oversee development of SOPs/TTPs
               o Continuous Service Improvements (CSI)
               o System performance tuning and enhancements
               o Create and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans (EIP)
Evaluate network bandwidth needs and recommend measures to meet those requirements.
Provide expert knowledge of defense-in-depth standards, Network and Security architecture, network topology, IT device integrity, and common security elements.
Plan and execute network upgrades and maintenance activities with the appropriate Delivery Operations Managers, NOC Lead, Release Management team and other key stakeholders.
Serve as the senior Tier III escalation support engineer for Incident Management activities.
Develop and maintain technical documents, analyses, and reports.
Actively participate in Root Cause Analysis for Problem Management activities.
Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and mission-focused environment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree and 15+ years; additional years of related work experience may be substituted for a degree.

Must have a DoD IAT level II baseline certification, prior to start (Sec+).
Advanced/Professional level vendor certifications (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto).
10+ years' experience engineering and troubleshooting networks, including extensive routing and switching experience such as MPLS, VPNs, routing protocols i.e. BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, switching protocols i.e. Spanning Tree Protocol, VLANs, LLDP, VoIP, Multicast protocols and emerging network technologies.
In depth knowledge of IP network/subnet addressing.
Experience presenting to senior customer management, customer stakeholders, and company management.
