Essential Functions
You must be able to twist, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, climb stairs, walk on uneven ground, work above ground on scaffolds, have depth of perception to avoid excavations and other hazards, hear well enough to recognize the sounds of horns and sirens on moving equipment and have good finger manipulation. There is a constant lifting of 10 lbs., frequent lifting of 25 lbs. and maximum single person lifting of 50 lbs. For items over 50 lbs. get assistance from a co worker. Team members must be able to climb on light or heavy equipment, carry and use hand tools. There is standing up to seven hours of an eight-hour shift. Ability to work in outside temperatures from 25 - 115 degrees.

Ulland Brothers, Inc., is a Civil/Highway-Heavy, aggregate and site development contractor with offices in Carlton, Virginia and Albert Lea, MN. Ulland Brothers has operated in the construction industry for over 100 years.
This is a union position with Operating Engineer #49 and requires being away from home periodically. This is a safety sensitive position.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
Operates various types of power construction equipment including but not limited to: rubber-tired backhoe, loaders, rollers, graders, excavators, etc. to excavate or move and place dirt or materials during the course of construction.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2 years' operating experience. Good ability and knowledge in the operation and maintenance of such equipment as listed above. Operation requires adjusting handwheels and depressing pedals to drive machines and control attachments such as blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing booms. Controlling levers and pedals on assigned equipment to lower bucket or scoop up material. Required to perform maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines. Requires ability to read and understand blueprints. CDL helpful.
ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires operating equipment in a safe manner. It is a requirement to follow instructions and meet set standards and to judge distances and slopes accurately. This is inside and outside work in all types of environments, conditions, weather, and seasons. Appropriate personal safety equipment is supplied. This is medium duty work requiring lifting, climbing and sitting. Crouching, or stooping and bending, full use of hand, arms, and legs and eye-hand coordination is essential. Reaching and feeling, overhead lifting, and repetitive motions are required: Talking and hearing; good eyesight (either naturally or with correction); and color discrimination are essential to satisfactory performance. Due to the nature of the position, an Operator may be required to perform other duties throughout the course of a workday. POSITION SUMMARY: Installation and maintenance of natural gas pipeline Responsibilities
Responsible for digging trenches, installing sewer, water and natural gas pipelines; and backfilling excavations with asphalt on road
Responsible for entering and exiting excavations varying in depth from 2to 5

Tapping and stopping off water or gas service tees from the main line, in addition to numerous push / pull activities associated to underground construction work

CMES Inc. was founded in February 1996 by professional civil engineers. The initial operations of CMES Inc. were conducted from their home in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The founders were only employees for a time, working diligently to obtain and complete projects within budget and on time as per contract specifications.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The heavy equipment operator shall possess skills to operate a variety of contractor equipment and trucks used in construction, maintenance and repair activities and performs a variety of semiskilled tasks in the maintenance of light, street, and storm drainage systems.
Heavy Equipment Operator Level I Essential Functions
1. Operates trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, materials, and supplies.
2. Must be competent in safety, understanding the Excavation guidelines as defined by OSHA.
3. Basic operational techniques of trucks and construction or power equipment, such as mechanized broom, man-lift, dump truck, hydraulic excavators, skid steers.
4. Operates jackhammers, mowers, brush chippers and other small equipment and tools to maintain street and utility systems.
5. Shoot grades.
6. Works with and assists the line crew in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and any related work with a backhoe, road grater or front-end loader.
7. Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment.
8. Assists in the installing and maintenance of traffic control devices.
9. Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Preferred Education and Experience for Level I Operator

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
